The course is very demanding and requires high levels of self-discipline and commitment, so it should not be undertaken lightly. There is a huge wealth of knowledge and information to digest so you will need the full support of your family and friends and you will find new reserves you did not know you had in order to complete this cutting edge course successfully. The friendships and camaraderie engendered by the demanding schedule makes the process very uplifting and you will learn how to teach with confidence. It may even change your life!
Whether you have been practicing for many years or are relatively new to yoga, our intensive teacher training course offers the opportunity for you to understand, deepen your appreciation and develop the skills required to teach within the vibrant world of yoga. It is a demanding and challenging course, but the combination of skills and knowledge that you will learn make this a truly life-enhancing experience.
Although the course is designed for yoga students who have a strong desire to teach, it is also ideal for those who are looking to immerse themselves further in their yoga and take time for reflective personal development. You will enjoy plenty of outdoor space and warmth, ideal for the practice, study and contemplation of yoga.
Nevertheless, potential students should be aware that it is an intensive and demanding course. Training courses at Yoga Shala Ibiza are held in our new eco-friendly yoga center, Garden of Joy, where we pay great attention to the environment and the community in which we live. All teacher training courses are alcohol and drug free.
The Ibiza Bija Yoga Alliance Teacher Training Diploma is awarded to students who attend all the sessions and fulfil all the requirements of the course (including a pass result for the final class assessment and written assignments). They will gain a Yoga Alliance 200-hour certificate which enables them to teach worldwide. Jacqueline's past teacher trainees now teach yoga in many different ways to suit their lifestyles, either on a part-time or full-time basis, enriched by the options of ongoing support and continuous professional development.
Our training draws on the inspiration of Swami Sivananda and Jacqueline's beloved Guruji Shri K Pattabhi Jois, his students Derek Ireland, John Scott, Jivamukti Yoga Gurus David Life and Sharon Gannon, Mr BKS Iyengar, Shandor Remete of Shadow Yoga and many other great gurus. Our approach relies on passing on the skills for appropriate modification, safety in asanas and adaptation of postures for various medical conditions.
In this comprehensive course you will learn:
How the muscles and joints work within the postures
Pranayama, mantra and meditation
The main philosophical texts and how they are relevant, both to the history of yoga and yoga as it is practiced in the West today
The methodologies we use ensure that this is a cutting edge teacher training course, which is both transformational and confidence building. Our teaching methods are student-centered and fun. Although there is plenty of theory in the syllabus, we use interactive teaching methods, practical yoga sessions, role-play, and pair and group work to help you develop confidence and autonomy.
The key to safe yoga teaching is understanding, and that understanding comes through experience, observation, dedication and teaching. We do small peer-group teaching sessions from the beginning of the course in which we road-test how to deal practically and professionally with any situations that can arise in a yoga class. You are encouraged to start teaching your own class early on in this course.

It also has an outside shaded yoga platform and a swimming pool. As there is very little light pollution, our stars twinkle very brightly.
The light brunch and dinner are prepared using the finest available ingredients, including homegrown organic produce.
Although the focus is on yoga, while you are in Ibiza you can take the opportunity to experience aquatic sports, such as windsurfing and sub-aqua diving, in the beautiful clear sea, as well as hiking and horse-riding. It is very easy to commute around the island by bus and small ferries, and we can provide local knowledge to help you find your way around Ibiza on your days off.
