100-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Wales

This course is designed to equip the yoga teacher with some specific yoga work that will be of benefit to women preparing for pregnancy, going through pregnancy and postnatal changes. Your aim is to keep mum fit and healthy throughout pregnancy and to be able to prepare her body to be able to cope well with labor.

Guests who stay for five days or longer may use the laundry facilities if required. They aim to be flexible with their accommodation by trying to fulfill every need. There is one double bedroom for couples, or if you need a private room (please note this is only for couples unless there are no couples booked or you are willing to pay the rate of a couple), there is a double bedroom.

Dormitory style accommodation

There are two rooms, one with three single beds, and the other with four single beds.

The caravan

The caravan is a cozy space that can accommodate up to two people. It is situated a little way from the main house in a quiet wooded corner with views out over the country fields.

The caravan has a small kitchen, useful for making hot drinks and light snacks if you wish. Again, guests may use the toilet facilities or the usual shower, bath, and restroom inside the house.

Camping

There’s a large garden and depending on the numbers, you can camp here for a short period using the compost toilet and the shared facilities. The guests are encouraged to use the toilet in order to be environmentally friendly, but there is also the choice to use the other conventional facilities.

Students who complete their training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance Professionals (UK).

Day 1, Monday: Pre-conception

Includes cleansing techniques, dietary advice, lifestyle choices, Yama, and Niyama.

  • 11:30 Arrival and introductions
  • 12:00 Hatha yoga for healthy pre-conception (Aruna, Surya, Namaskar, and Loma viloma series to balance body and mind) kaya kriya and relaxation (Loma-viloma visualization).
  • 13:30 Lunch break
  • 14:30 Session with Jnandev on yogic cleansing, preparation for conception
  • 15:30 Sectional breathing and Pranava Om
  • 17:00 Relaxation practices: kaya kriya relaxation, pranayama (Savitri rhythm) and yoga Nidra (jnana yoga kriya) Moksha kriya
  • 18:30 Close for the day

Day 2, Tuesday: Early pregnancy (13 weeks - 28 weeks)

  • 09:00 Hatha yoga sequence for early pregnancy, sukkah rhythm
  • 11:00 Anatomy and physiology, stages of Pregnancy and general concerns, questions and answers sessions - presentation with midwife Lorien
  • 13:00 Lunch break
  • 14:00 Talk on Vedic philosophy and pregnancy with Jnandev
  • 15:00 Kati chakra kriya sequence and pranayama - Pranava AUM with mudras and sounds
  • 16:30 GP Dr. Catherine -guest speaker on women's health
  • 18:30 "Live" pregnancy yoga class/observation (if students are available)

Day 3, Wednesday: Late pregnancy (28 weeks - 40 weeks/term)

  • 09:15 Hatha yoga for later pregnancy, marmanastanam kriya (public class)
  • 11;15 Presentation with Rachel Crow, womb meditations and cycle charting
  • 13:00 Lunch break
  • 14:00 Pranayama, Savitri rhythm, and Brahma mudra, kukkriya and the birthing breath (students practice leading the birthing breath)
  • 16:00 Reviewing practices students want to recap/"students" practice
  • 17:00 Close for the day

Day 4, Thursday: Early pregnancy review

  • 09:30 Hatha yoga, early pregnancy reviewed
  • 10:30 'Live’ postnatal mother and baby yoga class (if students available)
  • 12:00 Relaxation techniques/pranayamas
  • 13:00 Lunch break
  • 14:00 Presentation with retiree midwife and breastfeeding counselor Lin
  • 15:00 Yoga therapy and partner yoga, a helpful hand during pregnancy
  • 16:00 Health and safety and teaching skills
  • 17:00 Chair yoga
  • 18:00 Close day

Day 5, Friday: Hatha Yoga

  • 09:00 Hatha yoga for late pregnancy reviewed
  • 10:30 Pranayama, Brahmari or Bramahra
  • 11:00 Hypnobirthing presentation with Heather
  • 13:00 Lunch break
  • 14:00 Practice teaching and lesson planning
  • 16:30 Talk on yoga practices and our emotional health for mother and baby with Jnandev
  • 18:00 Close for the day

Day 6, Saturday: Postnatal yoga

  • 09:00 Postnatal yoga session
  • 10:00 Students teaching classes
  • 11:00 Presentation with physiotherapist Caroline
  • 13:00 Lunch break
  • 14:00 Pranayama, Surya and Chandra Nadi, Alternate nostril breathing
  • 15:00 Postnatal sequence reviewed
  • 16:00 Pregnancy yoga teacher’s responsibilities, expectations, skills and abilities, knowledgebase, questions and answers session with Deepika and Jnandev

Day 7, Sunday: Review

  • 10:30 Hypno-birthing techniques presentation (Heather)

Students certified after completing and submitting:

  • 1 detailed case study
  • 3 pregnancy lessons plans with written feedback from students
  • 1 postnatal yoga lesson plan
  • Essay on the benefits of yoga during pregnancy?
  • Describe the practices that work on the pelvic floor in yoga and why is it important?
  • In what situations should you not allow the pregnant student to participate in the yoga class and what might you need to do?
