Accommodation

You will be staying for a 3-night stay at Amarant Retreat accommodation, a luxury in the Yarra Ranges. The building is set over 3 split levels providing plenty of private space for sleeping, relaxing, and talking to fellow retreatants. There is one 4-shared room available, all other accommodation is twin share. At Amarant Retreat, it is easy to unwind and find a place of inner calm, either outside in the beautiful forest and gardens, or inside curled up by the fire.

Retreat etiquette

  • Attendance at all sessions is required. If you are sick, or cannot attend for any other reasons, please inform Sanjay.
  • Do not bring any non-yogic reading material.
  • Keep the five Mahayana precepts: no killing, stealing, lying, sexual conduct, no tobacco, alcohol or other mind altering substances.
  • Silence is to be kept from waking up to after you finish lunch.
  • You are requested to stay in the Amarant grounds throughout the yoga retreat.
  • No visitors will be allowed during the yoga retreat.
  • You must attend each session promptly.

Instructors

Sanjay
Sanjay began exploring consciousness development and the healing arts at the age of 15. His asana (physical posture) practice is integrated with daily pranayama, as well as meditation and philosophical study spanning many spiritual traditions. These include Kashmir Shaivism, Mahayana Buddhism, and yoga’s sister science of Ayurveda. He offers workshops and retreats throughout the year to further his students’ knowledge and provide the opportunity to find inner peace and happiness. His teachers are Pattabhi Jois, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Ani Karin, Swami Shankarananda, and Paul Dallaghan.

Location

This retreat is going to be held at the stunning Amarant Retreat, about 70 kilometers north-east of Melbourne. This luxurious, restful, and peaceful surrounds of Amarant are perfect for your deep inner yogic practices. Amarant rests in a 25-acre of magical temperate rainforest on Mount Ben Cairn in the Yarra Ranges National Park. The park is visited daily by birds and other wildlife residing in the surrounding forest.

Food

On this retreat, you will eat foods from an Ayurvedic nature, vegetarian and well balanced for all constitutions. The menu is designed to take into consideration times of the day and the current season. Meals are simple, fresh and natural. Eggs, onions, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes, and chilies of any type are not included on this retreat as they have negative effects on the mind. Kindly inform Yoga Sanjay if you have any special dietary requirements, they will try to accommodate your needs.
