Melanie Woods

Yandara Yoga Institute (Yoga)

Melanie discovered yoga when she was 19 years old traveling alone in India. After returning home to California, she continued to explore, learn, and deepen further into the yoga practice, which eventually took over into a lifestyle. In 2012, with encouragement and support from her teachers, she completed her 200hr YTT at the Yandara Yoga Institute in Baja, Mexico. She began teaching Vinyasa flow, therapeutic, and restorative yoga classes for all levels in San Francisco, and fully embraced her wandering nature, taking her yoga mat where ever she goes.

"I have booked the Yoga Sailing Holidays for yoga&sail in October 2016. Everything has been already started with ease and joy. The booking and the conformation was done very quickly, the staff helped me with any question that I had. On the boat I have met the amazing crew, who made my trip one of the best holidays of my life. We started the mornings with yoga, breakfast together and had an enjoyable sail to other islands. We went swimming in beautiful and extraordinary places, enjoyed meditation and food, which the crew prepared. Due to different tastes within the crew and the group we tried various different foods. I enjoyed diving from the boat, the sailing and all the bays and harbours we have visited. Everyday all people on the boat were full of energy, in a best mood and made my holiday very special. I really enjoyed this and would recommend to everyone! "

"I have to say, I’ve never heard of “Yoga and Sailing” before, so I thought I’d try it. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but right from the moment we arrived at the marina I knew we were in for a good week. We were welcomed with a big smile and glass of champagne, so I knew we made the right decision. Everything was done at a relaxed pace, the meals were just heavenly, I don’t know anything about sailing so I left that to the men, while I read my book and improved my tan. The holiday ticked all the boxes because we got away from the crowds, we were docked in a new island every day, so we got to see a lot of Croatia, we had amazing weather, swam in the clear water, made new friends and had amazing food on the boat and in the traditional restaurants. I can’t recommend the trip enough, so if you’re thinking about doing it, hurry up and book!"

"What can I say apart from wow? Everything was just heaven. We sailed from Split (Croatia) to our first port with a glass of wine and the sun on our face. In the mornings we had sunrise meditation, followed by the most amazing yoga session with Melanie. Each day we sailed to postcard-perfect bays, had lunch which our amazing hostess made for us as we were swimming, then headed into our port for the night. I don’t sail, but I loved every minute of it, with the lapping of the water against the boat, the breeze in my hair, and the sun kissing my face. Don’t get me started on the local food and wine. Take me back. For anyone considering the trip, just do it. The locals are friendly and the crew are attentive to your every need."

"I went more for the sailing and not so much the yoga. Not to be a spoil-sport, I participated in the meditation and yoga and I think I’ve been converted. I found calm with the meditation and the yoga really made me feel amazing. Whether you sail or not, it doesn’t matter, but what a great way to see the islands of Croatia. The skipper certainly knew his stuff and I always felt comfortable. The hostess (which was a treat) kept on surprising us with the most delicious meals. This was a unique way to relax, see the sights and make new friends."
