Teacher trainees will stay and practice at the beautiful Doce Lunas Resort. It is nestled within the jungle, in a quiet neighborhood of the quaint, yet vibrant beach town of Jaco, on Costa Rica’s central Pacific Coast.

Doce Lunas is unique among Costa Rica hotels, having five acres of jungle gardens. Luxury lodging, at the base of a jungle covered mountain, with plenty of spaces to relax and unwind, and only a few minutes away from beautiful South Jaco beach.

Macaws, toucans, white faced monkeys, and pisotes are regular visitors of this secluded and quiet hotel. You will delight in fresh (and organic when available) local ingredients at Eclipse Restaurant, enjoying a breakfast and lunch everyday of the training. You'll explore an introduction to partner practices, along with workshops on embodying and spotting inversions, working with the energetic quality of the classroom, compassionate communication, mindfulness of the breath, healing touch, and several meditation techniques.

All of this will empower you with the tools to intuitively incorporate these unique elements into your yoga practice and teaching. Knowing that healthy yoga bodies begin from the inside-out, the approach to the yoga of food helps you discover how your relationship to what you feed yourself is a powerful expression of your connection to source and presence. Sample schedule

  • 09:30 Chanting, asana practice, and meditation

  • 13:00 Relaxing time by the pool, self study, nap time, etc.
  • 14:30 Lecture: The study and discussion of various practices, philosophy, etc.
  • 15:30 Asana workshop, anatomy, and practice teaching: Working into the asanas, asking questions, getting feedback, and practice teaching
  • 17:00 Guided meditation practices / lecture

The schedule is subject to change depending on specific activities and/or lectures. Morning hikes, walking meditations, kriyas, cooking lessons, partner practices, and other activities are also included in the program and are not mentioned in the above chronogram. This is more of an idea of what a typical day will be like.

Techniques, training, and methodology

Yoga Revolution sequence

Learning the mindful and spacious Vinyasa yoga sequence designed by Anabel Miranda. It includes a setting of an intention at the beginning of the practice, pranayama, modified sun salutations, standing postures, seated postures, twists, hip openers, and inversions. The practice moves at a soft pace with a strong energetic flow, with influences of Chinese medicine, tai chi, and chi qung.

Asanas, basics, and more

  • Exploration of asanas and modifications to best benefit the practitioner, including the use of props

Pranayama - bandha - kriya

  • A strong emphasis in the mindfulness of the breath, the breath movement is the body movement

The theory behind the practice
