During this retreat, you will be staying in a family run hosted villa with sun terrace and pool, set a short walk from Moraira and the beach. The villa offers separate guest accommodation with sitting room, dining area, and guest kitchen for making drinks and snacks.

Depending on rooms booked, there are choices of single room, twin room with private use showers, or a double room with en-suite. If you book a shared room, you will also share a bath or shower room. You may only book shared room if you have a friend or partner who come to the retreat with you.

Please note that currently, there is an intermittent building work adjacent to the retreat. You may hear some noise from the construction.

This yoga holiday program is suitable for beginners and for those returning to yoga after a break. The main emphasis being on a safe holiday in the sun with the beach to unwind and relax. The daily class may combine a fusion of various styles, including the most popular style, Hatha yoga. Some sessions may be offered by different instructors to give you the chance to try different styles.

First session will focus on simple, flowing movements to gently stretch and synchronize the breath with the postures. The days' class and time will vary according to the time of year, the sun, and shade. This enables the class to be taught outdoors, usually at the beach overlooking the sea and mountains. You may walk or take the transportation.

The daily class will vary according to the abilities of students present. The qualified instructor will assess the daily level of class, to allow everyone to flow at their own level that day. Hatha yoga is probably one of the most popular styles of yoga today for its relatively slow pace focusing on the postures and the breath, perfect for beginners. As classes and instructors may vary the class duration time is from 70 to 90 minutes in length. This depends on which days of the week you are attending.

Most people choose to sleep later to unwind and therefore daily yoga class can start around 9.30 a.m., 10.30 a.m., in the afternoon around 4.30 pm, or later depending on time of year, the instructor, and summer heat. Lunch is usually taken around 1.30 p.m. unless requested early or later, especially during the hot summer months when you wish to enjoy longer beach days.

Some people enjoy taking lunch or dinner out at the local cafes by request. Dinner at the villa is served in the dining area around 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., depending on the evenings when you wish to be out late or eat earlier, in order to go out. This is by specific request. Evenings can be spent enjoying a walk in Moraira, or along the beach, gift shopping, or listening to the weekly live music shows a short stroll from the villa. Friday is the local market day with many bargains and produce.

Anahita Csurilla qualified as a Hatha yoga teacher from Sivananda Yoga centre Budapest in 2010. Anahita has a master's degree in the Prana Nadi Method of natural healing and a level 4 master of competence since 2012. She has also attended Matra University of Alternative Science from 2009 to 2011 in Hungary. She also studied other forms of yoga including Vinyasa flow. Her Hatha yoga style is becoming more influenced by Therapy yoga and in her classes and workshops, she pays attention to the individual needs of her students, the chakras, and the health giving benefits with renewed energy flow.

This yoga holiday will be held in Moraira, Spain. Just 90 kilometers north of Alicante, on the coast via airport transfer, lies the pretty town of Moraira, a small beautiful port and marina town, known as the jewel of the Costa Blanca, Spain. During the holiday, a variety of traditional home cooked food will be served daily, freshly prepared by the hosts. The daily meals may consist of salmon, chicken, beef mince, pasta, or rice along with fresh vegetables and salads, or a vegetarian option. There is only one daily meal option, but the hosts will always consult with everyone on arrival about their favorite foods and cook accordingly, to suit everyone in the small group.

Groups may vary and you may be the only guest. The host will keep any single guest company, should they wish, or respect their privacy for those who wish time alone. Dinner usually consists of two courses, including a dessert. Yoga Retreat Spain will try to accommodate your dietary needs, likes, and dislikes. Vegan option, however, is regrettably unable to be accommodated.

Breakfast is a 'help yourself' at a time to suit each guest. This may consist of cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit, toast, and a choice of herbal teas and coffee. Drinking water is provided. Yoga Retreats Spain only asks you to wash up your own dishes after breakfast, as it can be taken at any time to suit each person.

Yoga Retreats Spain respectfully ask you to wash up and tidy after eating or preparing any snacks, drinks, or any items of food you may have purchased during your stay, every day. This is to help keep the guest kitchen tidy at all times, out of respect for others.

After all other meals, the crockery will be taken away by the villa hosts for cleaning. This enables the hosts and you coordinate as a team, in order to move quickly together to the next activity, either walking or by car. The hosts are very much about family, teamwork, and sharing. Please note that you cannot expect for a hotel experience during your stay in the villa.

The following meals are included:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner

The following dietary requirements are served and/or catered for:

  • Regular (typically includes meat and fish)
  • Vegetarian
  • Other dietary requirements on request
(If you have special dietary requirements its a good idea to communicate it to the organiser when making a reservation)

Optional activities in the summer months from June to September are kayaking and SUP boarding for hire from one of the local beaches, which is proving to be very popular. You may also try beach walking or a walk to the Cap D'Or, an eight kilometers walk to and from the villa with spectacular views.

You will need a reasonable level of fitness to climb the last one kilometer up the mountain path to the top. A drink at the beach café after the descent is the most popular activity to do after and before returning back into town.

Mini treatments are available locally in Moraira by appointment. For those who wish to have a treatment, to avoid disappointment, it is strongly suggested that these are booked at the beginning of the holiday as the studio gets very busy. There are too many treatments to list here with special offers and some prices changing weekly. Yoga Retreats Spain will direct you to the studio, just a short walk from the villa.

"I was not quite sure what to expect, when I booked my yoga trip from Canada but I am very happy that I did. From the moment I arrived I felt 100% comfortable and taken cared of. I loved the yoga sessions and will go home to tell my daughter about the various postures I learned. Moraira is a beautiful spot and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the town. Chatting to both of you was like chatting to old friends that I have known forever. Thanks for a wonderful time!"

"An ideal week of running and Yoga. We would have never attempted the hills without your guidance and the routes were spectacular. The yoga sessions with the great teachers have shown us lots more positions to help our running and the outdoor classes were such a change from smelly gyms at home! Moraira is a lovely wee village and we enjoyed relaxing and swimming on El Portet beach. The food was great and was just what was needed of each point of the day. The different salads have given us new ideas for packed lunches and look forward to seeing Sebastian on Masterchef. Thanks very much for looking after us for the week - we are certainly fitter, more relaxed and more flexible than when we arrived ! See you in Malaga."

"Paul and Amanda were perfect hosts, welcoming, kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they skilfully catered for the differing needs of my mother and myself. We enjoyed yoga by the beach, swimming, markets, restaurants and relaxing by the pool, not to mention cuddle-time with their lovely cats. The weather in September is wonderful and the area is very beautiful. All in all a wonderful holiday!"

"There are two real issues with this “retreat”. Firstly, it is not a retreat and therefore should not be advertised or priced as such. Secondly, the hosts blew so hot and cold that rather than feel relaxed, I felt on edge and unsure whether today I would be acknowledged and chatted to or made to feel in the way and an inconvenience. Whilst they do often ask if there is anything you need, if you take them up on it you receive such a prickly response that it puts you off asking for something again. This is such a shame as the villa itself offered good, clean facilities with a lovely pool and terrace which was very private. Moraira too, is a very nice town and easily reached on foot. Lunch and dinners were adequate and with good variety across the course of my week-long stay. You had to make your own breakfast from the fridge and wash up after as well as after lunch and dessert course of dinner. I felt this should have been made clear beforehand along with the fact that rooms won’t be cleaned at all throughout your stay. It is true, as others before me have said, that you feel you have to fit in around the hosts’ schedule and they put their needs before that of their paying guests. Whilst there are frequent offers to take you out in the evenings which is a lovely gesture, it should be optional as guests are on holiday and here to relax and do as they please. You get the feeling you have affronted the hosts if you ask to do something different or request to leave a bar earlier than they wish. I honestly think Amanda and Paul are well-meaning but it simply does not always come across this way and I am not sure they realize how “off” they can sometimes be with their guests."

"We are a family run a boutique hosted family villa not a hotel but as such we can tailor the experience for our guests. On arrival, we always ask guests what they want from their yoga retreat. All the beds are of a very good quality from IKEA, further more all our bedrooms have a private bathroom or shower room. We like to give guests their own private room, regardless of what they have paid. It is not unusual for guests to ask to see more photographs of the accommodation, which we are always happy to supply. A previous guest decided to henna her hair and stained one of the baths, for which we apologized, this bathroom will be completely re-fitted shortly, however all other bathrooms and en-suits are as new. All bathroom towels are good quality matching towels, however we do ask guests to bring their own beach towels. If guests forget to bring their own beach towels, we provide good quality beach towels, which are not the same as the bathroom towels. The kitchen was cleaned before the guests arrived. They were the only guests here, using the kitchen, if guests make a cup of tea, we ask that they wash the cup, we do not think that is asking too much. We make all lunch and dinners and then clean away and tidy up after these. It is not a hotel but a home from home, were they have a more intimate experience, where guests can make a cup of tea, a snack and relax and read a book by the private pool. I'm glad she enjoyed the private yoga classes tailored to her needs, on the beach each morning ( or in a studio near the beach ). Guests love the beach yoga and the sound of the surf is so relaxing. We enjoy what we do and spend a lot of time with guests on a one-to-one basis, taking them out for meals, music evenings and drinks at beach bars. If guests wish to go shopping or be taken to the beach ( which is only an 8 minute away walk ) we drive them, this is all part of the service we offer to our guests. We also collect guests from the bus at any time of the day or night, as they may arrive and depart to suit their flights."

"I stayed with Amanda and Paul Fletcher in Moraira. I booked this retreat as the reviews seemed to be very good. However, I arrived on the Monday evening after a full day of travelling, feeling tired and too hot, to an apartment that was dirty and uncomfortable. The property had been advertised as having en-suite bathrooms and although I had my own bathroom, it was down a corridor rather than en-suite. On arrival I wasn't offered a meal, nor was there anything to eat or cold to drink (only a half full carton of orange juice which I am unsure of how long this had been open) in the apartment. Prior to my arrival I had informed the hosts that I am intolerant to wheat and cows milk and they had stated that this would not be a problem. When I reminded Amanda of this, she said 'oh you might have told us' but did not make any effort to rectify the situation. I also had wished to do both the vegetarian healthy eating (this wasn't an option I found on arrival) and juicing that was on offer but was only given the juices. This consisted of a juice at breakfast, lunch and a soup in the evening. I did not feel confident that the hosts were qualified in nutrition or to run a juicing program either. I work in health and typically a juicing detox means that when the client is hungry, they have a juice. Not only did I feel faint and unwell at times during this retreat, I also had to go to the local supermarket to buy food, despite booking and paying for this retreat under the knowledge that all meals would be provided for. I mentioned to Amanda that I was struggling with the juicing, I was given an extra juice that day but no evening meal. If the hosts did not feel like cooking and we're going out to eat, the guests either had to go with them to eat (even if they did not wish to go out) or were not catered for at all. This did not appear to concern the hosts. Twice during my stay, I was given a juice 5 minutes before having to leave for a yoga class and on my departure. This was not enough time to drink this but Amanda did not seem bothered about this at all and neither did she seem bothered that I would not have enough energy for the yoga class. I was aware prior to arrival that building works were going on near by, however I did not appreciate the hosts putting their washing machine on early in the morning outside the guest rooms. Especially when a retreat is meant to be relaxing and restful. Other issues I had were that there were broken tiles in the swimming pool and the filter wasn't working and the beds were actually camp beds with broken springs. Amanda also offered the chance to attend a Pilates class on Thursday which I agreed to having enjoyed the class on the Tuesday. However once Thursday came, this was no longer on offer nor did she inform the guests why. I found this couple to be the least yoga minded people ever. The had no knowledge of yoga or nutrition and only seemed bothered about the money being made. I felt uncomfortable in asking for anything, especially as I was repeatedly informed of the 'strange guests' they had over the years. "

"Hosts: Amanda & Paul are amazing: they can't do enough for you and I felt as if I had made two new friends.Tip: research what else you might want to do and come prepared. If you want something more intimate with less laid on for you, this may be the one for you."

"Amanda & Paul are so friendly, you are treated as part of their family, as soon as you arrive. I was in a single room, found the beds super comfy and slept very well. The shower has a continuous stream of hot water, lovely way to wake you up in the morning. I was a beginner to yoga, but the choice of three yoga teachers, made it much more interesting."

"I stayed at Yoga retreats in Spain for 10-days. I had a single room and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Spent time at the dog shelter and took a couple of dogs out for a walk. I love animals, so that was a great surprise for me, followed by a coffee and cake by the beach. We had a morning yoga session down at El Portet Beach, choose a great beach and it was a lovely day."

"Paul and Amanda are fabulous hosts, organising what ever guests requested, tennis or golf lessons, nothing was too much trouble. A perfect balance between excellent yoga classes and an activity holiday, with great walks. A truly beautiful tranquil location, with relaxing days at the nearby beach. Deliciously prepared Meditarranean dishes and the fresh fruit in Cointreau, was "to die for". Thank you so much, I look forward to returning and seeing you both."

"Well what can I say, its been an amazing 6 weeks and youve all been absolutely fantastic. From the yummy food to the great company, yoga, walking and interesting jokes along the way. I am now on my way to a healthier fitter life style and I know I could not have done it without you. I will miss the rusty man, marina and will always have fond memories of my time with you. Hopefully we will meet again before too long, keep in touch."
