Join in for a magical journey to Ireland as you take a step back into the past of the Medieval Ages where castles were abundant and life was simple. In this retreat, you will learn a bit of Ireland's history with yoga classes thrown in the mix! Unwind yourself as you dance along traditional Irish music at the castle's local bar or spend the afternoon visiting boutique shops showcasing Irish designers. During this retreat, you will be staying at Springfield Castle. The rooms are available for single or double occupancy. If you are coming with a friend, Yoga Retreats Ireland will do their best to accommodate you. Springfield Castle is the ancestral home of Lord and Lady Muskerry.
County Limerick is the birthplace of Malachy McCourt, the author of Angela's Ashes. One of the delights of staying at Springfield Castle is the seclusion and tranquillity offered by the 200 acres of wooded estate. When you drive in through the gates and up the three-quarter mile long tree lined avenue, you will feel the magic of entering a “different world”.
There are fields of quietly grazing deer and acres of woodland walks tempting you to explore. Springfield is a prime example of an Irish Castle with gardens. The organic farm, woods, and gardens at Springfield are all yours to roam and in the season you can enjoy a visit to the Victorian era walled garden with flowers, herbs, salads and vegetables organically produced for local markets and available to guests.
A tour of the farm with Jonathan on the tractor and trailer to meet the deer is a fascinating opportunity to see nature up close. Wildlife abounds at Springfield and the dawn chorus in spring and summer may be the loudest thing to disturb you.Walking through the woodlands and avenues you may be lucky enough to see some of the wildlife that lives here. We have rabbits, foxes, badgers and even barn owls.
You will have two yoga classes for all levels daily and will be held in the West Wing of the castle which boasts a heated floor. Caroline, Ena, and a local guest teacher will be teaching a class with you. If you wish to improve your practice or have never been to a yoga class. This is the place to for you.
Do not worry about your novice experience as a yogi as there has been past guests that have never taken a yoga class. One lady started her yoga practice at the age of 76. It is truly a testament that yoga is for everyone.
All classes with have assists and adjustments as Ena will also be teaching Nidra yoga, the yoga of sleep. They hope you will take away some of the tools from this practice to your daily lives. Your afternoons are scheduled with group activities or time to be alone. County Limerick is the birth place of the Irish writer, Malachy McCourt, and all guests will be sent a copy of his book, Angela's Ashes. It is truly a sad story but with the resilience of the Irish, it has now become a musical.
In the evenings, dance along traditional Irish music at the castle's own bar. You can also join Yoga Retreats Ireland on a trip to nearby Newcastle West which is a small town is situated on the River Arra where you can spend the afternoon visiting boutique shops showcasing Irish designers.

Ena believes life is a journey filled with new paths and unwritten pages; a story to be told. A trained ballet dancer and teacher, currently Cecchetti IV teacher certified, and pediatric nurse, winning a DAISY award for compassionate nursing in 2013. Ena married her high-school sweetheart Joseph and together they have two wonderful daughters. For many years, yoga took a backseat as Ena focused on her family and nursing career. She read yoga books, practiced with instructional DVDs, and developed a self-guided home practice. As her girls grew, so did her passion and interest in yoga.
This retreat will take place at County Limerick, located in the province of Munster in Ireland. The castle is situated on a 200-acre wooded lot. You will walk among the ancient lime trees.
You will be joined by a local chef who will whip up some tasty and nourishing meals daily. Please let Yoga Retreats Ireland know if you have any dietary restrictions. They will do their best to ensure your dietary needs are met. The local foods will be used depending on the seasons. Tea and fruits will always be available in their kitchen as the kitchen never closes in Ireland.

Please book your flight to arrive at Shannon Airport (SNN) or Dublin Airport (DUB). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request as Yoga Retreats Ireland will organize them for you. A chartered bus will be available for pick up and return to both airports on the first and last day of the retreat.
