During this training, you will stay at Yoga Padma Rishikesh's homely guest house surrounded by mountains. It is a sanctuary away from town and traffic jams, a great place for yoga special courses and spiritual retreats to be held. They have an open kitchen which can be used during your stay and a yoga hall with the capacity of 20 persons in one class.

They have eight double rooms which are simple, rustic, and homely, each with its own character and picturesque view of the mountains beyond. All are have en-suite bathrooms with hot water and room heaters for the winter months. All are non-smoking rooms. Two rooms on the first floor have balconies while the ground floor rooms have veranda sit-outs. All the rooms are airy, and there are no televisions or phones in the rooms.

Program

You will experience a tremendous transformation in your life and practice from the teachings and presence of a master. The most effective way of learning and teaching is from direct experience. This is traditional teaching where you will inherit the fruits of the wisdom of the Rishis from ancient time to the present day in the Sivananda lineage. During the programs, you will live in close contact with your teacher. You will have the privilege to study with Indian culture.

Away from the distractions of the home environment, everyday responsibilities, business, and appointments, you will be amazed on how focused and attentive your mind will be to absorb this knowledge. In Yoga Padma Rishikesh, you will live each moment of the program with awareness, bringing about growth and transformation.

This course will be conducted in two levels. Each level comprises of 100 hours with self-study. Whether you are a beginner or advanced in your practice, all yoga practitioners are welcome and encouraged to join this month-long program. From sunrise to sunset, students will be engaged in extreme personal growth and development of their yoga practice.

Through this program, students will cultivate happiness, gain balance, and relish in the divine light within their hearts. This course is created for individuals with aspirations of becoming yoga teachers but is appropriate for any individual wishing to further expand their yoga practice. Cultivate happiness, self-love, and positivism in a yoga program deeply devoted to spiritual growth and understanding.

Throughout the course, you will learn an approved curriculum in a nurturing and supportive classroom environment that caters to your individualized skills. Level A

In this level, half-course will be completed with the introductory practices. For completion, one must practice both level of courses.

Curriculum

The asana or yoga posture classes include the philosophy and core practice of Hatha yoga, Vinyasa yoga, structuring and sequencing asana, asana for health, Vinyasa sun and moon salutation, joints movement and Pavan Muktasana, standing and sitting asana, backward and forward bending, twisting, inversion, balancing, and meditation asana.

Yoga Darshana or yoga philosophy will teach you the six Indian philosophies, the importance of yoga philosophy, the history, origin, eight limbs, and aim of yoga, emotional purification through yoga, yoga Sutra of Patanjali, and the five states of mind respectively, disturbed, stupefied, distracted, one pointed, and controlled. This course also includes Vritti modification of the mind, the nine disturbances of meditation, and mastering the yoga practices.

Yoga in daily life is an important discussion too, just as much as Kriya yoga and its importance of practice, the seven chakras and their importance in human life, yoga and Kundalini awakening, ancient texts of yoga tradition, philosophy of Ayurveda and natural healing, how to improve sex and relationship through yoga, and the three states of consciousness.

You will also discuss Adhyatma Sadhana or spiritual practices by amplifying your understanding on Kirtan or chanting and singing spiritual music, chanting Vedic hymns and mantras, Arati or singing glory of divinity, and Japa or recitation of divine sounds. Meanwhile, pranayama, otherwise known as the power of breathing, improves your understanding of correct breathing and the five aspects of it, exercises to strengthen the diaphragm muscles, lungs, and diaphragmatic breathing.

You will be taught how to sit doing pranayama, its concept and necessity to be practiced, understanding the five major prana, upa-prana, and how prana flows, understanding the function of nadis and chakras in breathing practices, aura and prana, and the eight major pranayama practices such as Kapal Bhati, Bhastrika, Bharamari, Nadisodhanam, Ujjayai, Sheetli, Sheetkari, and yogic breathing.

Sharirik Vijnan or the anatomy course includes the skeletal system and understanding of joints in yoga, the muscular system, strengthening and flexibility of muscles, the respiratory system, spiritual anatomy, Kundalini and chakra, and the study of the spine. A study of meditation and concentration is also part of the program Dhyanam and Dharana. This includes the basics of meditation, how to sit, breathe, relax, and focus in meditation.

Different categories will be tackled such as candlelight gazing, So-Ham meditation, mantra, chakra meditation, Kundalini, dancing, and laughing meditation. You will also learn about Sat-karma such as Jala-Neti, Kapal-Bhati, and Trataka. The alignment or adjustment course includes hip and joints opening, correcting postures, preparation for advance postures, and safety of adjustment.

You will also be taught mudras, or yoga gesture and attitude. This comprises the introduction to mudra and the five group of yoga mudras, Jnana, Chin, and Bhairava mudra for meditation and memory. Finally, yoga Nidra or psychic sleep, and sleeping meditation will be explored.

There will be discussions on full body and tension relaxation, heart center, awakening subtle body, and chakra awakening yoga Nidra, healing relaxation practices Ayurveda or healing practices, Ayurveda and alternate therapy, understanding Tri-dosha and healing diet, introduction to healing and natural healing, self-massage, and how to do Ayurveda massage.

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Dehradun Airport (DED) since this is the nearest airport. Transfer from the airport is included, a taxi will pick you up.

Arrival by bus

Rishikesh is well connected by road to other Indian cities. You can get Govt buses to Rishikesh from New Delhi, Haridwar, and Dehradun. New Delhi to Rishikesh buses usually takes about 7 to 8 hours to reach and Rishikesh to Haridwar is just a 45-minute journey.

Arrival by train

Rishikesh has railway connectivity with limited trains. Haridwar Railway station is very close (35 kilometers away) so its the best option to reach Rishikesh.

Shatabdi Express (train number 12017), A/C special (train number 12205) and Mussoorie Express (train number 14041) are one of the best options to reach Haridwar from New Delhi. From Haridwar to Rishikesh, you can hire a taxi or you can hire an auto rickshaw.
