Come and join this yoga retreat in the heart of the beautiful Italian countryside with Yoga on a Shoestring Ltd. Jaya Jaks will be your teacher during this holiday. You will dive deep into meditation and yoga classes, enjoy delicious meals, and stay overnight at a beautiful accommodation in Sabina. An amazing experience is waiting for you, so take your chance and make it an unforgettable memory!
The exquisitely restored 17th-century stone buildings have been converted into accommodation and overlook a panorama of olive groves and fruit trees. The rooms are designed in a simple, natural style with a combination of new and antique furnishings. Four of the bedrooms are en-suite, and the other rooms share a bathroom between two rooms.
All accommodation is shared between two or three people with very limited availability for single occupancy. Single yurt accommodation is also available. There are three yurts close to the pool area with an outdoor shower and shared indoor bathroom facility. In the summer, it is too hot to go in the yurts in the day, but they are comfortable and pleasantly cool at night.
The yoga practice will be held outdoors on the magnificent wooden yoga platform overlooking the lush valley or in the serene and tranquil indoor yoga space with views over the hills and vales. The morning class will gently open the body and attune the mind to the breath, moving and building into a flowing and dynamic sequence.
The group will meet again in the late afternoon for a more gentle and restorative class. The holiday is suitable for all levels of ability. Also, an optional day-trip excursion to Umbria will be available for those who would like to explore the culturally rich hill town of Orvieto and on this day, there will be no afternoon yoga practice. The arrival time at In Sabina on May 19 is between 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. In Sabina cannot receive guests before then. The latest departure time on May 26 is 10 a.m.
Jaya started practicing yoga in 1995 and has explored many styles since. She completed an intensive nine-month teacher training in Byron Bay in 2003 and taught at Brahmani Yoga (former Purple Valley) in India until 2008. Jaya teaches a dynamic flow style that combines the integrity, precision, and alignment of Iyengar with the movement and breath awareness of Vinyasa. Jaya's techniques tend to suit students of varying abilities, as they can be both calming and challenging. Most importantly, Jaya creates a safe and nurturing environment that encourages self-discovery and non-competitiveness.
The retreat will take place in Sabina, Italy. In Sabina, an elegant and breathtaking retreat center in the heart of the Sabine Hills, offers spectacular views and a magical setting. Less than an hour north of Rome near Umbria, In Sabina lies in the midst of the untouched Italian countryside.
The property is peaceful and rustic, offering a haven of spiritual practice, relaxation, and rejuvenation. The retreat center’s grounds are lush and abundant with lovely gardens, a pond, a natural spring, and swimming pool. This is the perfect location for stunning sunsets and nature walks.
Three delicious Italian and vegetarian meals will be served daily. On one evening, there will be dinner out at a local restaurant.
You can quite easily join activities while enjoying a week of deep rest and rejuvenation here. Relaxing by the swimming pool, having a massage treatment with an excellent therapist, finding a quiet secluded spot with a good book, or taking a walk in the stunning natural surroundings are good choices. There are nice walks from the house and even better ones just a short drive away.
The area is rich in sites of historic and natural beauty. Only 10 minutes away, the charming medieval hilltop village of Casperia is a favorite haunt for In Sabina groups for dinner out on a Friday evening. An optional day trip to the culturally rich hill town of Orvieto, just an hour away, is also offered during the week.
Please book your flight to arrive at Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) or Ciampino - G.B. Pastine International Airport (CIA). Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO) is the best option for the shared group transfer. However, a transfer can also be arranged from Ciampino - G.B. Pastine International Airport (CIA). It is a good idea to book your flights as early as you can for the cheapest deals. It is best to take a flight arriving between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Yoga on a Shoestring strongly recommends that you join the minibus transfers from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO), which will be arranged to bring you directly to In Sabina. The price is very reasonable and quick as it takes only one hour and 15 minutes from either airport and in many cases, it costs less than taking the train. For six, eight, 14, and 16 people in a minibus, the price is 29 EUR, 22 EUR, 18 EUR, and 16 EUR per person respectively.
The earliest time a minibus can leave the airport is 3:30 p.m. and Yoga on a Shoestring suggests that if you are on an earlier flight that you wait there, you will be advised of the exact meeting point nearer the time. If there is a group arriving at Ciampino - G.B. Pastine International Airport (CIA), a transfer from there can also be arranged for the same price.
If you prefer to take a train, the closest station to In Sabina is Stimigliano. From Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO), the train costs 11 EUR one way and takes 1 hour and 50 minutes. A taxi from Stimigliano station costs 25 EUR for up to three people with little luggage. There is no direct train from Ciampino - G.B. Pastine International Airport (CIA) to Stimigliano Station.
