Join this retreat to experience a Mayan-inspired yoga holiday, enjoying the luxury of a 13th century mansion! This program is inspired by the Mayan traditions, especially the sacred vision of the sun cycles through equinoxes and solstices as observed in the Mayan rituals and architecture. This will be a cultural journey to live the heart-opening Mayan-inspired ceremony to ask for the blessings provided by the spirits of the four directions.
During this retreat, you will stay either in a shared or a private room. The mansion was built in the 13th century and has been owned by the same family ever since. The venue is filled with history, but has also been renovated and modernized.
The mansion features seven double rooms with twin beds and en-suite bathrooms, a medieval kitchen, a dining room, community spaces, a large terrace, a pool, an outdoor patio, and a gorgeous and historic yoga room. Due to the design of the mansion, you will have the opportunity to enjoy space alone to relax and recharge or share your free time with others in the group.
During this retreat, you will experience a Mayan-inspired ceremony and a moving and heart-touching ritual performed to ground an intention and to ask for the blessings provided by the spirits of the four directions, to continue coming. In return, seeds, fruits, flowers, words, and practices will be your offerings.
The retreat will close with a beautiful Tantric meditation circle where the sense of community and recognition of the light you carry and share with each other will make its presence.
The yoga practices during this retreat will follow and breakdown the concepts of the ceremony, using Eastern traditions such as yoga, meditation, martial and healing arts, and other practices to reinforce the integration of the concepts right where these ancient cultures merge. In general, the morning yoga class will be more energizing and vigorous, while the afternoon yoga classes will be more restorative and gentle.
The lead instructor, Victor Varana, comes from a diverse background of martial arts, Kundalini, Hatha, Power, and other yoga styles, all of which influence his teaching style. The classes are appropriate for all levels of yoga practitioners. In addition, yoga Nidra classes will be held. All classes end with a sound healing, drumming, and throat singing savasana.
