4 Days Bespoke Personal 1-2-1 Retreat with Yoga in North Norfolk, UK

2 The Loke, Oulton, Norwich NR11 6NX, UK

Bespoke Yoga Retreat UK

“Unable to sleep properly, eat properly, or even to think properly, I arrived at Jane’s retreat, feeling completely overwrought, on the verge of crashing. I was offered a custom-designed program, one-to-one, over four incredible days, with as much, or as little, space as I needed, but with loving guidance through some structured workshop activity with plenty of reflection, through chanting and meditation, and through regular satsang, all in the tradition of Yasodhara yoga.” If you are feeling like Hilary, or just want to unwind and be completely looked after in the peace of the North Norfolk countryside, this is the perfect environment to support and hold you. Physical practice is completely optional.

The accommodation is deep in the peace of the North Norfolk countryside, which, along with support and care, can help you step back to gain perspective and move forward with clarity. Accommodation is either shared with Jane in the main house or self contained.

In the main house there are beautiful large, airy, south facing double guest bedrooms with tea and coffee making facilities as well as hair dryers and towels. There is a luxury bathroom, which is mainly for your own use, but may also be lightly shared.

If you'd like to be self contained, The Retreat is adjacent to the main house and is a studio apartment within its own half-acre garden, with sun trap patio. It has a stunning Spanish tiled shower room, and a wood burner to be cosy with in the winter. There is a supplement for The Retreat, depending on time of year.

The 30-meter light, airy kitchen, with views over the garden to open fields, is available for retreat participants, as well as the outdoor decking area and half an acre garden, which has a stream at the bottom. In the winter, the wood-burner in the kitchen keeps everything cozy, and in the summer, there's no better place to be than out on the decking, watching the sun go down. Mid season, we sit by the fire pit and contemplate the moon and stars.

The yoga studio is available for your own practice out of dedicated workshop time, so the environment is supportive, personal, and holding. People love the peace and quiet here, the rural tranquility, as well as nearly 30 years of practice that has gone into the fabric of the place. All guests are made to feel very welcome and are 100% supported in their journey throughout the whole time on retreat, responding spontaneously to any needs as they arise. You rest and relax here, and enjoy the rural tranquility of this beautiful place.

Your retreat program includes morning chanting/ breathing/ meditation sessions, to be decided on to suit you, a one and a half hour reflective Hatha yoga session and evening satsang or meditation session. During the day there are informal opportunities for discussion at meal times and afterwards. Once you have booked your retreat, Yoga Lightness will speak in advance, and fine tune your program and dietary requirements.

During your retreat you are nurtured with:

  • High quality home cooked food, made from top quality ingredients, organic where possible, including home grown organic produce from the garden when in season
  • 100% attention and focus from your host and teacher of many years experience throughout your stay
  • High quality, clean, bright, and comfortable newly refurbished accommodation
  • A unique peaceful and supportive environment with views over gardens and trees
  • A guest led experience at all times
  • A relaxing and stress free environment during your stay
  • Guided morning meditation sessions, a one hour Hatha yoga practice and reflective work for problem solving and goal setting if so desired

Retreat location

The situation is unique, in an idyllic rural location in the beautiful Bure Valley area of North Norfolk. You can walk to the village shop in the pretty village of Itteringham, where you can get tea, coffee and exceptional cake, as well as Wi-Fi. Or walk round the local lanes and woods, which back onto the Blickling Hall estate, a stunning National Trust property just two miles up the road.

In good weather, enjoy the decking, overlooking the half-acre garden, which backs onto open fields and has a stream at the bottom. Some evenings you can sit round the fire pit and watch the stars come out. Due to little light pollution, some nights it seems as if you can reach up and touch the Milky Way!

The location is a five minutes' drive from Aylsham, and fifteen minutes from Holt and Reepham. It is within easy reach of the North Norfolk coast, and only a thirty minutes' drive to the beautiful historic cathedral town of Norwich.
