Staffs wish to make your stay at The Last House, a very special experience. As Geoffrey Bawa’s final example of his infamous brand of architecture throughout Sri Lanka, this six-bedroomed seaside escape enjoys space, ventilation, and barefoot luxury in a private location.
Décor throughout the property is largely a mix of fresh white walls and gray polished cement floors, serving as a backdrop to a mixture of antique, and contemporary furniture, all adorned with bright colors. It is an excellent choice when looking at where to stay in Tangalle. Bedrooms enjoy views of the sea or a lagoon, set in tropical gardens with a central swimming pool.

You will begin your day with morning meditation and pranayama, followed by one and a half hours dynamic Vinyasa yoga in the morning, then an additional one and a half hours restorative or explorative yoga in the early evening. The days are yours to enjoy, whether you prefer to explore the local sights, go surfing, lounge by the pool, or walk the amazing Mawella beach. The Last House is right on one of the best swimming beaches in the south with a gorgeous pool as well, so there will be plenty of time to swim and soak up the Sri Lankan sunshine.
You will stay in a boutique hotel with everything you could wish for and Yoga Light Vibes has taken it over exclusively for their intimate retreat. You will enjoy expecting delicious food such as juices, teas, and fresh fruit first thing, a large Sri Lankan brunch post-yoga, and an amazing dinner with vegetarian and local seafood dishes mostly.
Sally-Anne is Yoga Alliance 500 hours RYT qualified, having completed both her 200 and 500-hour training with Quantum Yoga Founder, Lara Baumann and Judith Daniel in India. She started practising with her mum when she was four years old. In March 2017, she is co-teaching the next Quantum Yoga teacher training with Lara Baumann in Sri Lanka.

Any property so near to the beach will want to serve fresh and wholesome seafood, and The Last House is no exception, although they will be offering delicious alternatives for those craving more variety. The kitchen has been developed over time using regular consulting chefs with experience in Australia, UK, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
Dinner might start with ocean crab salad with spicy coconut sauce or lemongrass and lime leaves seafood soup, main fare from crispy skin snapper fillet with coconut lime, and dahl sauce upon mash to Rajasthan mutton curry with pandan steamed Basmati rice and fresh coriander. A full selection of Sri Lankan curries, of course, remains popular and has the whole household doing their beloved part in the kitchen. All rounded off with a choice of desserts.
Breakfast, which is included in all room rates, will typically offer subtle blends of fruit juices according to the season, eggs almost anyhow, pancakes, muesli, cereals, and some galvanising Sri Lankan starts to the day, all with a selection of Sri Lanka’s renowned teas or coffee. Lunch serves a variety of salads incorporating local lobster, prawns and tuna, a mixed tempura or mezze plate, or seafood risotto to name a few.
Daily morning tea, juice, and fresh local fruit, delicious, hearty brunch, and wholesome evening meal each day including authentic local Sri Lankan cuisine, salads, healthy curries, local seafood, and plenty of vegetarian options with fresh mineral water are available throughout your stay and included in the price. Vegan or gluten free can also be catered for with advance notice. You also have middle-week and final closing ceremony cocktails.
