For the first 4 days, you will be doing yoga practice at Yoga Light-House Retreat. For the following 3 days you venture into the mountainous part of the island. Sky scraping tree giants, with paths trodden by rain, animals and finally humans; magic fountains created by waterfalls where you will be able to bath and wash away all the urban fatigue; inspiring and pacifying landscapes.
You will also learn how to balance the 3 Doshas, that is to investigate and discover the weak points of your constitution (prakriti). If there are any recurring diseases, you will learn how to combat and eradicate them by managing your lifestyle. Not only that, you will increase your body endurance and vitality.
On a mental level, you will learn to master the methods and kriyas of the mind, sense of control and stability. Through your individual practice, you will learn how to acquire stability and serenity in your mind; you will grow positive traits and features of your personality so that you remain centered, focused, confident and relaxed in your day to day living.
Yoga Light-House also provides a consultation of traditional doctor of Sri Lanka (a doctor that is knowledgeable in herbs and naturopathy) if you have any physical concerns. He will use pulse diagnose (Nadi Vijnana) to determine your Prakruti (given at birth) and Vikruti (obtained through living) conditions of physical and energy bodies. Based on the consultations, you will be proposed a food and lifestyle plan for you to consider.
On the 6th and 7th days, you will embark on a pilgrimage to the highlands of the island - an excursion that is intended to reflect on your yoga practices. Your retreat comes complete with a climb to the sacred peak of Sri Pada (known as Adam's Peak).
Salutation to the dawn of new day at the Adam's Peak. Adams Peak raises high in the sky at 2243 meters. On top of it there is a hollow vaguely resembling a footprint. The road to the summit of the sacred mountain passes through a string of spectacular waterfalls, winding among the densely overgrown with tropical vegetation slopes and tea plantations.
To reach the top you need to go through around 5,000 steps. The Sri Lankans try to make the climbs to the summit comfortable, but the ascent still seems to be endless - at every turn, another flight of stairs opens and looks steeper than the previous one. However, the spectacular views are definitely worth the entire grueling journey to the summit.
Yoga Light House is located on the western coast of Sri Lanka, in a quiet and prosperous area called Waikkal, on the shore of the magnificent Indian Ocean. Where beats of industrialized life come to a complete stand still giving way to super natural tropical environment, and you a chance to get new insight and experience of unprecedented yoga state of mind, body and soul.
