Yoga Holidays Portugal and their teacher, Spiros, will be leading you through a week of yoga and free movement, immersed in the beautiful natural surroundings of their central Portugal property. The week will include yoga classes, forest walks, wild swimming, tasty food, lounging in the sun, and relaxing in hammocks with a book from their yoga library. This week is suitable for both beginners and more experienced practitioners.
The accommodation will be in one of the lovely eco yurts. The Yoga Holidays Portugal guests are always very pleasantly surprised by just how comfortable everything is, (despite being ecofriendly) and how well the system for water heating, electricity and heating the yurts in the cooler months works.
All yurts and the bell tent have electricity, solar reading lamps, shelving and some storage space, carpets and rugs. All the beds have mosquito nets.
Bathrooms and toilets are shared by a maximum of five guests. As they are living sustainably, the bathrooms have solar heated hot water and eco-composting toilets. The bathrooms and toilets are built in a modern style using wood from their land; they are clean, comfortable and totally green!
The morning classes will be stronger physical classes, with dynamic movement and heating postures, while the afternoon classes will include more meditation and slower asana practice. The end of the week will bring the guests favorite: wine, bonfire and hot tub evening.
Spiros' journey with and within his body started 16 years ago by practicing martial arts. Since then, his practice has included yoga, mindfulness meditation, Taoist meditation practices, and lately contact improvisation dance. All of these disciplines have influenced the way he practices and teaches yoga, giving him a focus on the breath and grounding, and a flow between free form and alignment. He completed his teacher training in 2012 with Still Flowing Yoga and has been teaching on and off since then.
This retreat is located in a unique and beautiful small eco retreat center in the heart of Portugal, in Ribeira Relvas, Oleiros; close to a stunning reservoir for swimming and a short walk away from a picturesque traditional Portuguese village.
