Throughout these retreats, you will be focusing on different guided meditations every day in the morning and evening to teach your mind to relax and focus on silence within. The aim is to help you return with a more positive and happy mindset.
There will be different series of yin and yang based Vinyasas taught to you every day - yang every morning and yin every evening - designed to slowly open up the whole body over five days so that by the last day of the retreat, every muscle within your body feels open, alive, relaxed, rejuvenated, and energized.
Note that all the classes are all optional during your yoga retreats. You are given the chance to develop at your own pace and to enjoy your stay as much as possible, in order to become healthy in mind and body, to learn how to relax and deal with stress, and to learn how to feel at one with yourself.
Each morning at 08:00, there will be a meditation and yoga session while every evening, there will be a meditation session. Attendance to both of these is highly recommended as these are designed to assist in your detoxification process.
During the detoxification process, blockages and tensions held in the physical, mental, and emotional levels of the body are released. These practices help you to let go of them, to relax properly, and to sleep more comfortably. During the day, you can relax, swim, have a therapy session, explore, and walk around the area and even help out in the organic gardens.
At your yoga retreat center, the aim is to help you develop your health, learn relaxation techniques, and learn meditation in order for you to deal with stress, improve the quality of your life, your happiness, and your sense of well-being. You will be taught meditation, asana (posture), chanting, and breathing techniques.
You will be asked at the beginning of each yoga retreat what areas you want to develop in. Your yoga retreat will be personalized according to your wants and needs for your own development, whether you are a new or established student of yoga.
Your yoga teacher will be using his highly developed teaching system during each class at your yoga retreat at Yoga Eco Oasis to teach yoga. Your yoga retreat center will be run specifically as a shala - a place of refuge and a place to find inner peace. Your Yoga Eco Oasis will be a perfect place to escape the stresses of the modern world and develop a sense of peace, calm, well-being, and happiness.
This powerful program is based on the five point of yoga by Swami Vishnudevananda with a personal approach for helping people to attend this five points. Yoga in community will be use to stimulate body and mind awareness and helps to work in group in more effective and loving ways.
The yogic physical exercises are called asana, a term which means steady pose. The body is as young as it is flexible. So initially, your concern is simply to increase body flexibility and strength. The asana also affect the internal organs and the endocrine system (glands and hormones).
Yoga teaches us how to use the lungs to their maximum capacity and how to control the breath. Proper breathing should be deep, slow, and rhythmical. This increases vitality and mental clarity.
When the body and the mind are constantly overworked, their natural efficiency to perform work diminishes. Modern social life, food, and work make it difficult for people to relax. Many have even forgotten that rest and relaxation are nature’s way of recharging. In order to achieve perfect relaxation, three methods are used by yogis - physical, mental, and spiritual relaxation.
Besides being responsible for building your physical body, the food you eat profoundly affect your mind. You will know the basis of a yogic diet to help you attain a high standard of health, keen intellect, and serenity of mind.
Here is the most important point of all, you become what you think. You should maintain positive and creative thoughts, as these will contribute to vibrant health and a peaceful, joyful mind. The mind will be brought under perfect control by regular practice of mindfulness meditation. When you experience happiness is because you have achieved perfect concentration at a time, then all the worries and problems of the world disappeared.
On the physical level, meditation helps to prolong the body’s anabolic process of growth and repair. It has been scientifically proven that as meditation brings about a prolonged positive state of mind, it rejuvenates body cells and retards decay. If you meditate for half an hour daily, the mind and body become calm and steady and you will be able to face life with peace and spiritual strength.
In this program, there will be also circle dance and community yoga.
Circle dance is a style of dance done in a circle (open or closed). The connection is made by hand to hand, with musical accompaniment. Dance can be gentle or more energetic. Circle dancing is an ancient tradition, probably the oldest known dance formation and common to many cultures for marking specials occasions, ritual, strengthening community, and encouraging
The dance can be a part of a meditation. The aim is to experience the joy of dancing with others and to create a sense of well-being and community. You will learn from very easy dances to more complex ones, such as Spanish dance.
Community yoga or yoga in community is the future of yoga. You are used to practice yoga in a personal way but now you have to share your self with others, that is the real meaning of yoga (union). This practice is accessible to all skill levels. It is about meeting people, connecting, communicating, and having fun, all the while reaping the benefits of a real yoga practice, i.e., strength, balance, and flexibility.
You will be showed everything you need to know to combine your yoga poses with others (partner or a group) and create fascinating geometrical shapes that are fun and connective. Community yoga integrates Hatha yoga, partner yoga, kaleidoscope yoga, Thai yoga, circle dance, and meditation.
Carlos is a skillful and intuitive yoga teacher passionate about helping others connect with their inner selves. For over 20 years, he has been dancing in the most prestigious Spanish dance companies like, Antonio Gades, before meeting the inner spirit of yoga and became a certified yoga teacher at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta school in Neyyar Dam, India, in 2003. Besides Hatha yoga, Carlos introduces his pupils to other various styles of yoga such as a nurturing combination of Hatha, Asthanga, and Vinyasa flow.
Since 1999, when Ana came into contact with veganism, she made a personal decision to adopt that philosophy of life. This is a philosophy that renounces food of animal origin, in search of a personal ethic in harmony with the environment without sacrificing the pleasure of tasting flavors, textures, and aromas. She later set up her own restaurant and was completely self-taught researching and creating her own culinary style.
Spain From a young age, Jose was interested in mysticism and he practiced in different Western schools looking for something that would give him inner harmony that he was seeking. He practiced mind control and meditation for many years. Jose dedicated himself to reconcile nutrition with people's spiritual side because one can hardly balance his or her energy if the physical body is not properly harmonized. He also dedicated entirely to provide students the necessary path for the body to function properly according to their biological heritage.
This retreat will take place in Competa, Spain. Competa is an inland white village in the Axarquia - a small region well known for the Andalusi legacy of Muslim rule. The Axarquia region is situated in the easternmost part of the province of Malaga. In its towns and villages, visitors will find large open natural spaces like the sierra, mountains, hillsides, steep cliffs. and extensive beaches, where to enjoy the Mediterranean native cuisine and a magnificent cultural and artistic heritage.
Yoga Eco Oasis' location is a privileged tourist destination surrounded by olive groves, almond trees, and a 4000 hectare wildlife reserve in Sierra Almijara, just 15-20 kilometers from the main tourist attractions of the Costa del Sol, including the beaches (a nudist beach is very near if required) of Torre del Mar, the famous Caves of Nerja, and within striking distance of Granada, Sierra Nevada, and other places of interests.

In this retreat, you will be served 100% healthy, delicious vegetarian organic meals using locally grown fruit and vegetables twice daily. The recipes used will be created by health and nutrition experts including Jose and Ana, the founders of Yoga Eco Oasis. Wholemeal foods will be used as well as foods low in saturated fat during your yoga retreats. All meals are based on the principles of good nutrition, health, and good taste.
There is no meat or fish on the yoga retreats. All the food is vegetarian in the tradition of yoga and ahimsa (non-violence). The yoga tradition encourages the vegetarian diet during the practice of meditation in order to increase the experience of peace. Your meals at the yoga retreat center will contain beans, nuts, avocados, tofu, seeds, and other vegetarian sources of protein, allowing you to build core, back, and other muscle groups that have been developed from practicing yoga postures by yogis for millennia.
Other special dietary requests such as vegan, dairy free, gluten free, and wheat free will also be catered for.
In Axarquia's towns and villages, you will find large open natural spaces like the sierra, mountains, hillsides, steep cliffs, and extensive beaches, where you can enjoy the Mediterranean native cuisine and a magnificent cultural and artistic heritage.
To discover the Axarquia, you are advised to take any of the four proposed routes running through the different towns of the region:
Along a beautiful coastline of beaches dotted with cliffs and coves, you also find hills covered with vineyards and the white country houses and farmhouses where sweet wine, famous since Roman times, is produced. Another star product along this route is the medlar, and in Sayalonga, they celebrate Medlar Day in May, a fiesta dedicated to this precious fruit.
In Nerja, the caves called Cathedral of the Paleolithic deserves a special mention, and also the nearby Cliffs of Maro. In Frigiliana, a town of Moorish and medieval origin, there are two interesting buildings: a former granary built in 1767 and a 16th century Renaissance palace which is now the only factory that produces the delicious Molasses or Miel de caña in Europe.
Other unique fiestas are the Night of the Wine in Competa and the Three Cultures Festival in Frigiliana in August, and the Fiesta de las Migas or Fried Breadcrumbs in Torrox in December.
Among the lush beauty of the sierras that crown the Axarquia, the strong identity of this route is reflected in the unique landscape of mountains where the green of olive trees and pastures predominate. The Verdial and Hojiblancaff varieties of olive trees produce one of the best olive oils in the world with a distinctive taste, prepared in traditional mills following a totally natural process.
In Periana, The Day of Verdial Oil is held every year in April. Like olive oil, gastronomy is one of the strong points along this route and you can sample the peaches of Periana, the Roman bread of Alcaucin, the oil doughnuts of Riogordo, the gazpacho in Alfarnatejo, and the cherries of Alfarnate.
At la Viñuela reservoir it is possible to participate in various cultural activities and tourist attractions. During Holy Week, you can enjoy El Paso de Riogordo, a live representation of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, declared tourist's national interest. Some unique fiestas are the Gazpacho Festival in Alfarnatejo on the first Saturday in August, The Fiesta of Water in Alcaucín (August), and the Fiesta of Mosto (grape juice) in Colmenar (December).
The subtropical fruits (mangoes, papayas, custard apples, and especially avocados) together with the magnificent sun that can be enjoyed on the coast are the theme of this route. The agricultural diversity is due to the exceptional micro climate created by the mountain range of the natural park of the sierras of Tejeda, Alhama, and Almijara. Some unique fiestas in the region are the Country Fair in Benamargosa in April and the Almayate Living Nativity in December.
Inland villages which reflect the Arabic roots of the Axarquia with an authentic Mudéjar pattern peppered with minarets, archades, and other details that confer this route a charming spell. Another unique fiesta is the Andalusi Arab Festival of Salares in September.
In Vélez Málaga, there are plenty places of interests such as The Chapel of Our Lady of the Remedies, the Church of St. Mary of the Incarnation, the Teatro del Carmen, the Tower of Homage, the Palace of the Marquis of Beniel, and the Church of San Juan Bautista, declared heritage of cultural interest.
In Malaga city, must-see tourist sites are La Alcazaba, the Picasso Museum, the Cathedral, the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, and La Concepción Historical Botanical Garden, among others.
In Nerja, some places to visit are the beach and cliffs at the natural park of Maro and Cerro Gordo, the balcony of Europe (el Balcón de Europa), and the Caves of Nerja.
You can visit other beauty spots to enjoy the natural scenery, including the watch towers of Muslim origin that gave the town of Torre del Mar its name, the pheonician ruins by the rock called El Toro, the fortress and town of Vélez Málaga, the sea promenade of Torre del Mar, the Baviera Golf course and Añoreta Golf among others, and the Caleta de Vélez marina harbour at the far east side of the promenade at Torre del mar.
Nearby and along the coast it is possible to carry out and enjoy many activities such as bike riding, walking, sailing, playing golf, or even kart racing. The close proximity to the Mediterranean sea and long sun shine hours help to give the climate of this region a distinctly Mediterranean character, unique in Europe.
There are massage, Thai massage, and reflexology treatments available for additional costs. Treatments tend to cost around 50 EUR each. Please feel free to send an inquiry to Yoga Eco Oasis if you want to find out more.
Please book your flight to arrive at Malaga International Airport (AGP). Transfer from and to the airport are included. Yoga Eco Oasis will pick you up from the airport. "Hello Anna and Jose Antonio, Thanks to you both for a fantastic course and the most welcoming atmosphere at Eco Oasis. After this, I can improve my life through yoga. We are now cooking something from the course every day and I am still eating a vegan diet. Before the retreat, I really needed inspiration for a healthy way to live and eat and now I feel so inspired to continue on this vegan/raw path .I’m really looking forward to your upcoming activities and workshops so we have a reason to visit Spain and Andalusia again."

"My experience at Yoga Retreats Eco Oasis was one of ultimate peace and calm. The centre itself is beautiful and located in the mountains of Andalucía it was the perfect escape from the chaos of central London. Fran is an amazing teacher. As I was quite new to yoga and it was my first retreat, I was a little apprehensive but he put me at ease from day 1 and I never looked back! It was lovely to spend the week with such a great bunch of people too - all like minded but from very different backgrounds. And I must also mention the food - it was delicious!! I've never eaten so well in my life! All in all, I left Yoga Eco Oasis feeling great and with a new outlook on life. I enjoy Yoga so much more because of it and would recommend it to anyone."

"Thank you so much for such a fantastic weekend, I was very sad to leave so soon because we had such an amazing time. The best part for me was being around like minded people with whom i can be 100% myself which doesn’t happen very often in my life unfortunately. I always try to be very open minded and socialize with people who just don’t understand veganism but this weekend has taught me that I need to make more friends with like minded vegans and spend more time with people like myself. Overall the yoga retreat has taught both myself and James a lot and we will take everything we learnt and use it in our everyday lives. Its helped us change the way we live for the better, and hopefully it will help James to understand why I live the way I do a little bit more (hes getting there slowly). Ana was the STAR of the show and made cooking so much fun, we laughed and laughed the entire retrait which is the best medicine one could ever wish for so thank you so so much for the time we shared this week"

"First of all I’d like to start with a big ‘Thank you’. I had booked my week in Cómpeta fairly spontaneously, only two weeks in advance. I’d had a bit of a rough time earlier in March and felt I needed to treat myself, to get back into shape and recharge my batteries. The Yoga and Cooking Class Retreat with Eco Oasis seemed just what I needed – and overall my expectations were exceeded. First of all, I thoroughly enjoyed with Yoga practice and all the cooking class, and the style and atmosphere in which they were taught. Our group was very small, and José Antonio took care of each visitor’s needs, which made all of us progress and develop day by day. It was so useful to have someone help you make constant adjustments and improvements. And what I learned has kept me motivated and helped me to improve my practice now that I’m back in London, both in class and at home. Food was amazing too! Anna was an absolute star! Every single dish was delicious. And it was impressive to see how much care went into it to make every meal special and healthy. I would have enjoyed my week with my group pretty much anywhere, I’m sure. But the fact that we were surrounded by beautiful mountains and had lots of sun and fresh air made the whole experience all the more enjoyable. I wish I could do it again soon, and highly recommend it!"
