Cal Pau Cruset offer luxurious, stylish, and elegant accommodation. The beautiful farmhouse is made up of a main building and three smaller houses. As Cal Pau Cruset is situated in the wine region of Penedes and the area is famous for its cava (Spanish champagne), the houses are named after the various native grapes.

For this retreat, your yoga group has been given the gorgeous houses, Casa Moscatel and Casa Parellada. Each house has wonderful views of the vineyards and hills, with each house having balconies, kitchen area and lounge area, patios and gardens to chill and enjoy. There is a selection of uniquely designed rooms within the houses, from private double or single room and luxurious shared rooms for two to four people.

This yoga retreat with Julie invites you to embrace much more than just doing the posture and when the posture is no longer the goal, the practice takes on a whole new attitude. You will be kinder, more patient, more present, and the body responds by softening, opening, and the postures open to you.

You will also be invited to a deep listening of the body, an awakening of the spine through playful exploration of your body through the asanas, through breathe, meditation, and simply arriving into a sense of wholeness.

Scaravelli yoga

Yoga inspired by Vanda Scaravelli is a stress free yoga that can be picked up by anyone who is wishing to connect with and understand their body better and perhaps even to come back to a place of wholeness. Ultimately, this understanding within the body leads the student to a better understanding of him or herself.

Daily program

Julie will offer two yoga sessions each day from Saturday morning. On the arrival day, there will be one session of yoga. The yoga sessions will begin with a gentle invitation to open up the body and then gently explore and deepen into different postures, breath, and meditation through the weekend. The yoga will be suitable for all, the experienced and those new to yoga.

The evening yoga session on Friday and Saturday will be a more restorative practice and the afternoon session on Sunday is a gentle closing practice. All yoga classes will take place in the stunning shala, a room of 120 square meters with oak wooden floors, amazing views, lots of natural light through 12 arched windows, and central heating to be able to receive groups all year.

There will be one period of silence between Friday evening and Saturday morning to support each other in arrival and to begin the invitation to be with your heart in gentle mindfulness.

    Julie is deeply inspired by the work of the late Vanda Scaravelli and teachers of her work, including John Stirk, Diane Long, and Liz Warrington, who work with the relationship between the spine, the breathe, gravity, and space to find freedom of movement and health in the body and mind. Julie's work and classes also acknowledge the meditation of yoga and include meditation practice.

The retreat will be held in Cal Pau Cruset, a beautifully and lovingly renovated traditional Catalan farmhouse dating over 150 years old. Situated among vineyards in the Alt Penedes, Spain, Cal Pau Cruset is located in the town of Torrelles de Foix, a region famous for its wines and champagnes.

The grounds accommodate many gardens and patios to settle down with friends you meet, a good book, or even a glass of wine or local cava. There is a swimming pool, barbecue, Jacuzzi, sauna, sunbeds, and a small bar. Not forgetting the organic vegetable garden and the resident pig “Lola”.

It is an inspiring, idyllic, and peaceful place where the owners have worked with love and care to create the perfect surroundings for students to come and fully immerse themselves on a retreat.

Beginning with Thursday evening dinner, you will be offered delicious, organic meals created by Cal Pau Cruset’s Italian cook, Claudio Masala. Followed by deliciously nutritious breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday.

The meals are prepared with love, dedication, creativity, happiness, generosity, and olive oil with fresh, seasonal, and locally grown ingredients, perhaps from the small vegetable garden. The meals prepared are Spanish, Catalan and Italian, Greek and Moroccan, Indian and Indonesian dishes. The meals are vegan and vegetarian but dishes with fish or meat are also on offer. All special dietary requirements are catered for.

Cal Pau Cruset have organic almond, cherry, apple, nisperos, kaki, plum, and lemon trees in addition to three hectares of vineyards. They make their own chutneys out of nisperos and grapes, bottle their cherries so they last over the winter, roast their almonds and make marmelades that their guests can buy.

There will be time in the day to enjoy free time. Immersed in the inspiring natural surroundings, you might rest in the gardens, go for a walk or bike ride through the vineyards and forests, or to the nearby waterfalls.

Reiki and anti-stress massages will be on offer by resident practitioners for an extra cost.

Driving directions from Barcelona

  • Take the AP-7 highway direction Tarragona-Lleida (toll), exit in Vilafranca Penedés.
  • Once past the toll gate and enter in the roundabout take the first exit, "Vilafranca N. / Altres Direccions".
  • Next is the call sign "Altres direccions (BP 2121)", continue in that direction for 10 kilometers to "Sant Martí Sarroca".
  • Drive to the village of Sant Martí Sarroca. Go through it and right after the end, on the right, find the gas station "The benzinera St Marti".
  • Turn right just before at the junction "Font-Rubi / The Llacuna" and continues for about one and a half kilometers, find a sign telling you that ends Sant Martí Sarroca, and enter the field of Torelles of Foix.
  • At about 25 meters, after the signal, there is a pink house on the left and in front of a small road on the right with a sign indicates "more Bertran Barri".
  • Cal Pau Cruset is the fourth house on the right after about one and a half miles (do not turn left where Can Cruset of Greansola indicated, this is a new house).

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. Airport transfers cost 25 EUR per person each way in a minibus of maximum seven and minimum four people.

Airlines that fly to Barcelona include Ryan Air, Easyjet, Iberia, Vueling, British Airways, Norwegian, Swiss, and Monarch.

Arrival by train

To get to Cal Pau Cruset, you can take trains that run regularly to nearby Vilafranca de Penedes from Barcelona. Yoga con Julie organize a pick up and transport from the train station that costs 6 EUR per person each way with minimum three people per car.
