The qualified yoga teacher, Yvonne Martin, gives regular yoga, individual attention and guidance to pupils based on the yoga philosophy. This is done by means of yoga, meditation and breathing therapy. During all of which breathing is of central importance, breathing is the reflection of the body's energy. Yoga is movement and movement is nothing but change, and for change movement is the tool.
There is a maximum for four persons to stay at the yoga center. You can share a room with bathroom or make a reservation for a single room.
In this retreat the body experiences breathing and consciousness differently. After all, yoga has a soothing effect and strengthens the mind. In combination with breathing, the yoga posture works on the consciousness level and the human equilibrium.
For Yoga Centrum Curacao, yoga is movement and movement is nothing but change, and for change movement is the tool. In Sanskrit yoga postures are called asanas. Asanas are beneficial to the body, the mind and the soul.
These favorable effects are achieved in particular by redressing the balance in the endocrine system and the central nervous system, both of which influence the immune system. With this feeling of strength and vitality, you are a better match for the demands that life makes.
Exercise based on body postures leads to a deep relaxation of the body that in turn ensures a greater degree of awareness of one's body. Yoga is also a spiritual journey that gives people the space to discover their own possibilities in a way that is best suited to them.
Meditation places the body and mind in a state of deep tranquility. During meditation, breathing becomes calmer and as a result the level of lactic acid in the blood reduces. This provides greater stability of the autonomic nervous system and lowers tension.
Breathing therapy is a combination of breathing and yoga postures. In order to assist you during treatment, breathing is carefully observed and advice is offered on different ways to improve your breathing.
A hiking tour in nature with a yoga session on the beach is included.
Owner Yvonne Martin graduated for the Higher Education for Human Resource Management in 1993. Before starting this study, she has worked in different segments within the healthcare since the mid 70s. Yvonne did mediation work in three important sectors of the labor market, services and care, industry and government.
She started a three-year Raya education in 1999, to be able to work with heart and soul. She continues with her yoga training at the Saswitha education for Yoga and Philosophy. In 2006, she obtained the diploma for training at the Saswitha Institute for Yoga and Philosophy with Chakra psychology as specialization.
After a few years, Yvonne decides to start her own practice. This is a long-cherished dream to live and work abroad. Therefore, she moves back to her native island of Curacao in 2007. Then in 2011, Yoga Centrum Curacao N.V. is officially established. Yvonne gives spiritual classes, from a certain parity making it more relatable.
The fields where Yoga Centum Curacao focuses on are breathing and breathing therapy, mindfulness and meditation courses, meditation and yoga retreats, yoga for beginners and advanced, and Ayurvedic massages for recovery and conservation of a healthy body.
Curacao is the ideal holiday island for a good rest, not only by the sea, there are many areas with no one in sight. Stay for a while at the Yoga Centrum Curacao to relax and enyoy the tropical climate.
Curacao is the largest island of the Netherlands Antilles and is one of the most important Caribean islands. The island is 61 kilometers long between its two furthest points and between five and 14 kilometers wide.
Curacao has a large number of small beaches. Most beaches have free admission. Only a few ask for a contribution for maintenance. Beaches can be found at nearly all the hotels and various private beaches are also open for tourists.
Curacao was created from volcanic limestone on which coral has grown for centuries. It can easily be seen during a first dive. You immediately encounter the magnificent coral reefs along the coastline. No wonder that scuba diving is now one of the most popular sports on Curacao.

The retreat offers daily vegetarian meals, tea, coffee, and juices.
Nature lovers wont believe their eyes. You can drive through Christoffel Park, up to the foot of Mt. Christoffel. For those whose cars are not in great shape, no need to worry. If the car cant make it up the hill, there's a jeep available daily to haul your car out of the park.
The many landhouses comprise one of the important, if not the most important, architectural heritage of the island. Curacaos landhouses played an important role in the islands history and are unique. Most of the landhouses can be toured; an appointment may be required.
You can enjoy the rich and varied history of Willemstad. Under leadership of an architect or historian, weekly guided tours are made by Otrabanda, a part of Willemstad. Also there is an excursion to climb the unique fosfor rich table mountain.
"My friend and me took a yoga class during our stay in Curacao. Our navigation system lead us a bit wrong, but we found the place in the end. Yvonne practiced Hatha-yoga with us and it was a nice experience to practice yoga in the middle of a caribbean island :) Thank you for this class!!!!"

"It is amazing that this type of individual yoga retreat exists. Yvonne has two pleasant rooms for visiting yoga students to stay, adjacent to her spacious yoga studio. I was the only student staying at Yoga Centrum, and I do not think that this is unusual. On a couple of occasions one of Yvonnes regular students attended the morning yoga session, but for most of my week it was just Yvonne and me practicing yoga together in the morning and in the afternoon.Yvonne leads one through a gentle intelligent series of asanas in each of the sessions. But the emphasis is less on the physical aspect of the asanas themselves, and more on the kind of mind/body balance that a practice integrating asanas, pranayama and meditation can manifest. This is probably not the right yoga retreat for someone looking to master the next big impressive pose.A retreat at Yoga Centrum is more suited to the student who views a yoga practice as a vehicle for shedding the ego, than someone for whom yoga is yet another ego-based pursuit. The caveat here is that, assuming you are the only student, Yvonne can probably tailor your retreat to your interests. I learned as much from the time I spent with Yvonne off the mat, going for a walk to see turtles, or having tea after dinner, or watching birds in the garden, than I did during the yoga sessions themselves. This would not be possible at a typical yoga retreat with more students. It was hard to leave after a week spent with this lovely person (and three wonderful dogs). But even in this there was an opportunity for learning and practicing yoga in experiencing a sense of utter letting go."

"If you're looking for a chance to stray from the touristy path on your visit to Curacao, I highly recommend yoga time with Yvonne. She picked my husband and me up at the cruise terminal and whisked us off to a tranquil beach for some good stretching and swimming. Yvonne is a wonderful instructor and the location was just beautiful. We couldn't have asked for a more peaceful, serene excursion. We wished we could have stayed longer!"

"Prepare yourself to discover the most amazing Yoga Centrum in Banda Abou. I'm a student of this Yoga Centrum for about four years and I'm still enjoying the way Yvonne, my yoga instructor, teaches me. She's a welcoming person, a wonderful teacher. At her Centrum you can enjoy the quietness and the peace of the nature. You'll also find some beaches not far from the Yoga Centrum where you can do some watersports as canoeing, kayaking, sailing, and swimming after finishing yoga lessons. What a great decision."
"I am living in Curacao part of the year. When I am there I take my yoga classes at Yvonne's Yoga studio. It is very relaxing to be there, the surroundings are very peaceful. Yvonne is a welcoming person and a great teacher, and she tailors the classes to the need of each student."
"We moved from the US to Curacao and lived on the island for three years. I had the opportunity to begin my yoga experience at Yoga Centrum with Yvonne. She is wonderful! And she was kind enough to teach the classes in English which really helped me understand the poses. I now have a love for yoga because of Yvonne!"
