Hawaii Island Retreat & Eco-Boutique hotel offers twenty elegant suites and yurt bungalows. The suites are color matched and named for the large, antique Saxon prints of tropical flowers. Each suite has a spacious bathroom with a large soaking tub and separate shower. These spacious suites are 375 - 450 square feet and decorated with turn-of -the-century-Hawaii furniture. All suites have private balconies and chairs, overlooking the fragrant garden as well as ocean. The yurt bungalows have valley or garden views.
Hawaii Island Retreat's Hawaiian yurts offer a unique alternative to the elegant boutique hotel for individuals and groups seeking greater simplicity and economy. Nestled within a needled ironwood grove, the yurt village is adjacent to the Hawaiian eco-spa complex and features seven spacious yurt bungalows, perfect for couples or shared living during private retreats.
Yurt Village guests have easy access to the spa's massage bunglalows, movement room, sauna, and infinity pool. Meals are served in the main hotel, where guests can also enjoy our fragrant gardens, open-air living room, theater room, and library.
The yurts have two single beds or one king, and a private toilet and sink. The indoor and outdoor shower options and the spa locker rooms are nearby for showers.

This retreat will facilitate relaxation and rejuvenation; provide an opportunity to de-stress, clear your mind, and reconnect; and help you develop the tools to establish peace and perspective in your everyday life through yoga, meditation, nature, journaling, Ayurveda discussions, self-care practices, and community development. In your first day, there will be an orientation, you can make new friends and embrace familiar ones. Yoga Centered School, Studio & Boutique will provide a guided tour, discuss itinerary, and answer any questions you may have in this orientation.
You will discuss the importance of practicing yoga with a high-quality of awareness, integrity, and intention and how this spills over into all aspects of your life which is where the true transformation occurs.
During the retreat, you will enjoy two daily yoga asana practices, including meditation and pranayama with experienced, sustainainably minded teachers Amanda Webster and Molly Masaoka. At the end, you will receive 25 hours of continuing education credit recognized by Yoga Alliance from ERYT-500 hour teachers Molly Masaoka and Amanda Webster on the topics of the eight-limb path of yoga and daily and seasonal optimal health practices.
If you have spent much time in Hawaii, you are familiar with the concept of “talk story", a local term that describes the time spent sitting around with friends telling stories, sharing memories, and generally “shooting the breeze”. Jeanne is a gifted story-teller who will captivate you with many incredible stories about this property. They will fill you with a sense of wonder and spark your curiosity about the mind-body-spirit connection.
“Sangha” is a Sanskrit term for community; typically a community gathering of a spiritual nature. In these sessions, participants may share their experiences and ask questions; Molly and Amanda will guide the conversations with specific questions, readings, or themes and offer suggestions on how to incorporate the practices you engage during the retreat into your everyday life.

Stroll the sacred valley, sit where royals councils mediated agreements, allow yourself to find peace and resolution with your own conflicts, sometimes the resolution is to simply welcome the uncertainty and discord so that it does not tear you apart. It’s been more than 15 years since Molly took that first class. She is now the owner and director of Yoga Centered Studio on the Big Island of Hawaii. She teaches classes, retreats and teacher training workshops worldwide. Over the years, she has been fortunate to study with some of the world’s most influential instructors including her primary teachers Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty. she has also completed teacher trainings with Don Stapelton from Nosara Yoga Institute, and Annie Carpenter of Smart Flow Yoga.
Her specialty is breaking down asana and vinyasa into manageable steps to suit each individual, and encouraging you to own your practice as it needs to exist in each breath without comparing yourself to the person next to you, trying to live up to your previous practice, or shutting down when something challenges you. Amanda is also a certified Ayurveda counselor, through the American Institute of Vedic Studies, and often incorporates the ancient holistic practices of Ayurveda into her teaching.
Hawaii Island Retreat Center is an eco-friendly purpose-built retreat center in Kohala, on the Big Island of Hawaii, that features a boutique hotel fashioned after 19th century Hawaiian palaces.
