Nestled between the luscious green mountains and 100 yards from the deep blue Caribbean ocean, Old Fort Bay, is truly a diamond in the rough. Imagine being picked up and driven a leisurely 80 minutes on one of the most serene ocean coastal drives of Jamaicas beautiful north shoreline. Gaze upon tropical, breathtaking views, and catch the native fauna and flora along the way.

Arrive through the gated community and drive deeper down into the comfort of your private beachfront villa. Open your mind to the idea of performing yoga on soft, powdery beaches or by the luscious gardens. Let yourself be guided through a nature walk of grassy fields tucked up against the picturesque backdrop of the mountains to a private waterfall.

Choose to lie out and catch some sun, sipping fresh coconut water, or go for a refreshing swim. Find a cozy chair or hammock to curl up in and enjoy the fresh sea breeze while being engrossed in a novel and listening to the Jamaican reggae beats playing in the distance from the hillsides.

Since a large percentage of your health is based on what you put into your body, Yoga by Chandras commitment to you is providing you with Jamaicas freshest food. From the juicy flavorful fruits (oranges, mangos, papaya, and pineapple, to name a few), to the fresh fish and home grown veggies (sweet potatoes, yams, and callaloo - leafy greens that are similar to spinach).

Yoga by Chandra can offer you a nice variety of food that can cater to your dietary needs. Whether you want to cut back, trim up and lose weight or just indulge in Jamaicas finest foods, like its famous jerk chicken, red beans and rice, or the fresh cut fish of the day.

You be the boss and take control of your experience here, by telling what you believe will leave you healthy, happy and satisfied, wanting to come back and stay longer! You will not only get 3 main dishes a day, but healthy snacks, along with herbal teas, Jamaicas famous coffee, coconut water, fresh juices and to aid you in your detox or overall gourmand experience.

"Thank you for such a wonderful experience at Old Fort Bay Cottages, Jamaica. I had so much fun with you and all the time we spent on the beach! Miss June was a fantastic cook and we experience all new Jamaican style cuisine. It was fun to go touring around Jamaica and experiencing areas we would never have seen otherwise. The beach is fantastic and as I stare at my snow banks, I miss it already. We had so much fun I especially loved our time in the water. My beachI miss it so! It is one of the most beautiful beaches and the water is clear and wonderful!"

"Chandra is full of life and energy! Not only did she motivate me to move my yoga expertise to the next level but she was an amazing tour guide and knew all the best lookout points for Ocho Rios. One of my favorite experiences was hiking to the secret Laughing Falls and stopping at various points along the way to practice our yoga positions and take in the scenery. I left Chandra and Jamaica with a deeper understanding of inner peace and a rejuvenated zest for life. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life and one that you cant afford to pass up!"

"Miles away from the busy life, Yoga by Chandra in Old Fort Bay, Ocho Rios, Jamaica is fun, relaxing and restorative. Just got back from the retreat and I'm already planning to go there again. While I was working at YogaLife, I contacted Chandra about her yoga retreat in Jamaica so we could include it on the 'Upcoming Retreats' page. We arranged to meet for breakfast one morning to talk about it. Chandra's enthusiasm and passion for what she was trying to create were infectious--and I decided I would attend her 7-day retreat in July.We had a yoga class on the beach every morning. It was an energizing Vinyasa flow class and I was thrilled I was able to keep up with the others. As the week went on the pace got more challenging but Chandra was able to suggest modifications to help me along. By the end of each class, there would be sand everywhere--all over our yoga mats, in our hair, all over our clothes-- and we would take the mats into the ocean and rinse them off. We soon discovered that if you roll up the mats they act as floats so we'd bob around in the waves for half an hour before heading back to the house for breakfast. The sea in Old Fort Bay had the bluest and clearest water I've ever seen; even standing neck-deep in the water, I could still see my feet! And on most mornings we had the beach to ourselves. Our meals were cooked by the lovely Miss June who made sure we were all fed properly, vegetarian or otherwise. Breakfast would be over by 11 a.m. and we were free until our evening yoga class at 6 p.m. Our evening yoga class was more restorative compared to the invigorating morning class. It was usually on the beach, but one evening we decided to have the class in the garden instead. What were the highlights of the retreat? Being in a new place, getting to know new people, getting to know myself a bit more, not even thinking about turning on my laptop the entire time I was there, going to the beach every day, trying different foods. And a personal highlight for me: getting into crow pose for the very first time. I'd tried it at various times over the last 4 years--I was so close on day 4 I could taste it, and finally got it on day 6! I had the biggest smile after that!Would I go back? Definitely. I'm already trying to figure out how I can work it into my travel plans for next summer."
