These retreats are held at a 4-star country house hotel which began life as an Olive farm before being renovated into a peaceful hotel some 7 years ago. The hotel has a great position being at the very point where the countryside meets the edge of Altea old town - so we're an easy 10 minute walk to the town of Altea and 25 minutes to the sea yet still have the most amazing, peaceful mountain & sea views.
The 20 spacious en-suite bedrooms are superbly equipped with satellite TV, telephone, heating, air-con, safety deposit, free Wi-Fi, mini-bar, hairdryer, fluffy towelling robes, complimentary toiletries and a daily maid service. Theres an outdoor pool, small gym, sauna, yoga shala and an excellent Michelin listed restaurant.
Our yoga and hiking retreats take place in the coastal town of Altea, an hour north of Alicante. Airport transfers offered at certain times. Altea is a lovely Spanish town considered to be one of the prettiest in this region. Sheltered by coast hugging mountains that tumble to the sea, the weather here is warm all year. We'll be venturing out into the stunning countryside for our hikes, opening our bodies in daily yoga sessions, feasting on delicious vegetarian food (fish options), and, if you fancy more, you can join the optional horse trek, bike ride, Spanish cookery workshop and pampering therapies or, simply relax in the sunshine by the pool with a good book. Bliss!
Let our airport transfer meet you at Alicante & bring you to the yoga hotel. Time to settle in and unpack before a welcome gathering and our first yoga session prior to dinner.
Awaken your body and senses to the day with a mini-breakfast of fresh fruits and herbal teas prior to the uplifting 90 minute yoga class to open & inspire you for the day. A delicious buffet breakfast / brunch is then enjoyed on the alfresco terrace before departure on our first walk through the local countryside to give you a good orientation of the area. Return to hotel mid-afternoon to relax, perhaps take a dip in the pool before the evenings wind down yoga class and dinner at the hotel.
Nourish your body with fresh fruits and herbal teas to slowly awaken before morning yoga practice and breakfast. Today is a day of leisurechance for you to really relax or, explore the Altea town, enjoy some therapies, join the Horse Trek or rest by the pool. Late afternoon Mudras, Meditation and Mantras workshop before dinner. Supper tonight is at a local restaurant join us if you like, its not compulsory.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast before the short drive into the mountains for a day hill walking including stop to enjoy your picnic lunch with amazing views. Return to hotel late afternoon for a rest before closing the day in a deeply relaxing restorative yoga session. Tonight is a free evening, you choose where to dine from any of the delicious local restaurants or dine at the hotel.
After morning fruits and tea and glorious morning yoga to stretch out after yesterdays walk, the rest of the day is free for you to enjoy as you please. We have an optional Spanish cookery workshop and lunch and an optional guided bike ride too or maybe youd like a massage to iron out any knots? The day draws to a close with a deliciously relaxing yoga session prior to dinner at the hotel.
Have a lie-in, you deserve it! Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before our transfers back to Alicante airport.
Well be practicing yoga twice a day before breakfast and dinner with passionate, experienced teachers. The sessions will include Hatha, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga to improve your strength, flexibility and range of movement. Morning sessions focus on simple flowing sequences to stretch muscles and open joints whilst we synchronize breath with movement so that your practice becomes a calming moving meditation. Evening classes are more restorative where we will hold postures a little longer using the breath to move deeper within, helping you re-connect with your inner peace. Bliss!
The level is suitable for keen beginners, those with a lapsed practice and intermediate yogis. Our teaching style is relaxed, no pressure to be perfect. Likewise there's no room for ego as its not what were about. It doesn't matter what other people can do, just work with what you have. Be patient, keep practicing and your body will open up and let you back in.
Nicole qualified as a yoga teacher with an Excellent Diploma after a two-year yoga training course with FRYOG (Friends of Yoga International) and has since gone on to train with some of the yoga famous, and not so famous but equally fabulous, teachers including Shiva Rea, Liz Lark, Godfri Devereus, and Claire Missingham.

Youll see coast hugging mountains tumbling down to the sea along the entire length of the coast together with lush crops of citrus, olive, almond, peach, fig, cherry and carob trees amongst the Mediterranean fruits and vegetables ripening in the sun. The perfume from the blossom is truly intoxicating and helps create a naturally beautiful setting for your Blissful Retreat.
The hotels Michelin listed kitchen creates delicious and colourful vegetarian and fish dishes for us using fresh, seasonal local produce which ensures everything we eat is bursting with freshness and optimum nutrition. The very lovely hotel owner Vincenta - brings us fresh eggs from her hens for breakfast and bakes a fresh cake each morning to add to the fantastic buffet breakfast. Yum!
Throughout this retreat, youll be provided with three times 3-course vegetarian suppers at the hotel with refreshments. During your stay, there will be two evenings where your taste buds can explore local restaurants. One of these evenings we will organize a group meal at a restaurant, your attendance is not compulsory nor complimentary, join us if you fancy.
A full range of holistic and traditional pampering therapies will be available during rereat.
We offer a private transfer service from/to Alicante airport. Meeting guests between 11.00 - 13.00 on arrival day and arriving back on final day at midday. Transfers are 40 EUR each way. Flights arriving outside of our transfer times can be accommodated with a private taxi or public transport. Contact Yoga Breaks Spain for more details.
If you'd like to travel with the 'locals', there is a resort 'hopper' service that operates from Alicante airport at regular times throughout the day. The drop off point in Altea (the yoga town) is a 10-minute cab ride to the yoga hotel. Journey time can be up to 1.5 hours due to stops en-route. Please ask Yoga Breaks Spain for more details.
If you wish to catch the train, you first need to take a cab to the north end of Alicante harbor where youll find the FGV (Ferrocarril de la Generalitat Valenciana) train service calling at Altea. Train journey takes approximately 2 hours from Alicante centre. Ask the organizer for more advice.
