The 20 spacious en-suite bedrooms are superbly equipped with satellite TV, telephone, heating, air-con, safety deposit, free Wi-Fi, mini-bar, hairdryer, fluffy towelling robes, complimentary toiletries and a daily maid service. Theres an outdoor pool, small gym, sauna, yoga shala and an excellent Michelin listed restaurant.

Blissful yoga retreat in the lovely Altea

Our yoga and hiking retreats take place in the coastal town of Altea, an hour north of Alicante. Airport transfers offered at certain times. Altea is a lovely Spanish town considered to be one of the prettiest in this region. Sheltered by coast hugging mountains that tumble to the sea, the weather here is warm all year. We'll be venturing out into the stunning countryside for our hikes, opening our bodies in daily yoga sessions, feasting on delicious vegetarian food (fish options), and, if you fancy more, you can join the optional horse trek, bike ride, Spanish cookery workshop and pampering therapies or, simply relax in the sunshine by the pool with a good book. Bliss!

The Yoga

Well be practicing yoga twice a day before breakfast and dinner with passionate, experienced teachers. Morning sessions focus on simple flowing sequences to stretch muscles and open joints whilst we synchronize breath with movement so that your practice becomes a calming moving meditation. Evening classes are more restorative where we will hold postures a little longer using the breath to move deeper within, helping you re-connect with your inner peace. Bliss!

The level is suitable for keen beginners, those with a lapsed practice and intermediate yogis. Our teaching style is relaxed, no pressure to be perfect. Likewise there's no room for ego as its not what were about. It doesn't matter what other people can do, just work with what you have. Be patient, keep practicing and your body will open up and let you back in.

"The few days spent in Denia were most enjoyable and inspiring. I felt safe and well looked after from the moment I arrived in Spain including the people I met on the bus and train journey from Alicante to Denia! I went with an open mind, consciously not comparing classes at home with retreat classes, which made the differences enjoyable and fresh. The daily program included 1.5 hour morning yoga and 1.5 hour afternoon Pilates the time in between could be spent joining in on organised activities cycling, a coastal walk or horse-riding or choosing from a long list of spa therapies to enjoy, exploring Denia or reading a book in bed no pressure to join any activity. This suited me well as I travelled alone and only needed to consider what I wanted to do. Brunch and most of the evening meals are enjoyed together at one of the hotels the food was delicious and the company ever so interesting. Loreto Street eateries, just around the corner, offers tapas and other meals, snacks, drinks where one just cannot go wrong. I stayed at the Hotel New Roma which is wonderfully located, super clean and the staff great. The on-site restaurant is very popular with local guests as well as travellers, which means it gets very noisy. Due to the open, modern hotel layout, the noise is not contained to the public areas but spills over to the guests rooms as well as into the communal inner quite courtyard at times this was very annoying. However, Nicole and Gary could not do enough to make us feel at home and happy they were professional and warm hosts. We were even each given a stamped picture postcard of Denia to post home! I can recommend this retreat to anyone who wants to enjoy alone time-out from daily life and simultaneously improve their Pilates and yoga exercise. I think Ill be keeping my dairy open for their next yoga only retreat.", edited

"This holiday was one that will last forever in my heart and soul. My first yoga holiday but definitely not the last, I hope to book again with same company. The one thing that stands out most is the genuine love the organizers have for what they do and the care they show to each of their customers. All teachers, massage therapists, biking guides etc are local people so its good that we were supporting the local community too. The hotel is family run and the food is super tasty, fresh and locally sourced. This has been a fantastic holiday for me - and I have been on some really amazing holidays! - my love for yoga has only increased because of this retreat, its simply the best holiday I have ever been on.", edited

"I was greatly anticipating this holiday and on arrival felt an immediate sense of welcome, relax Im here" & "this is it" which felt great. I considered arriving a day early but actually it was lovely to arrive and have yoga on my fist evening. I immediately felt 'checked out' in a manner that I'd really longed for and likewise 'checked-in" on a whole different level. I really loved the ambience of the hotel; it was very well suited to a yoga break. The outside world was left behind whilst I adjusted to my temporary home & family of sorts. I felt relaxed and happy and my mind was free of all the usual clutter. These feelings deepened along with my sense of strength, inside and out. My lasting memories will be of a time and place where I felt at peace with my body, my mind and all around me plus, the massage which was among 3 of the best Ive ever had in the World!. I hope to return.", edited

"Lovely hotel - great location and character - very Spanish and relaxing. The yoga element was perfect - well structured - allowed varied levels - perfect pace - was great to have a more challenging guest teacher for a couple of sessions too. My lasting memories are of finding space, relaxing, improving my yoga in a lovely non-threatening friendly environment, feeling very cared for & being in a great place to unwind and think a little about the jungle we live in. I loved it all and I will come back.", edited

"I thought the yoga classes and hiking were amazing. I felt Id really improved on my yoga alignment, technique and breathing - the teachers were lovely - Nicole is a great yoga teacher, very intuitive & I learnt lots of little tips that have helped improve my practice in particularly my breathing and alignment. Overall I had a lovely time, felt so relaxed after the first yoga session & liked that we all dined together and everyone socialises. My lasting memories are of how great I felt at the end of the holiday and how much my yoga practice has improved. On my last morning I even got up early and went for a run along the beach towards the next town - I made it just as the sun came up, it was beautiful. ", edited

"I had a great time! I had never done a yoga retreat before and this one had a good combination of serious yoga and freedom to explore the area either alone or with the group on hikes or excursions. Everything was well organized & the website gives a lot of information so there were no 'surprises'. I was impressed by Nicoles (the yoga teacher) ability to 'read' the group and know just what we needed. The location is gorgeous. I felt refreshed and happy at the end of the retreat. (I would have loved a few more days...) I will always remember the warmth extended by Nicole and her team and by all the other guests in the group. In general, this has been a tremendously positive experience. I will definitely recommend the retreat to friends and would be happy to come back for another session. Thanks!", edited

"The yoga teachers did a brilliant job considering they did not know any of the students or their abilities when they arrived just goes to show the level of their professionalism. I felt each student was able to attain a good class to the level of their own ability but there was also encouragement to stretch themselves and try new things if they wanted to without feeling intimidated. I loved the Yin yoga & as it was good to have a meditation workshop as I've had limited experience of meditation but I know have a better feel for what it can do."

"I was completely shattered when I arrived but being able to slob out for a few hours was very welcomed. Having not done anything like this before my apprehensions were easily dismissed on meeting the group and after the first class. I knew I was going to enjoy my stay. I liked the structure of the holiday, perfect environment and weather (of course)! Classes and activities were as advertised and the hotel as expected. Definitely felt I had improved my practise and learned new things to explore further by the end of the 5 days. Met some lovely people, ate some lovely food and had some good laughs. I definitely will do something like this again in the future."

"Overall the level of yoga classes/teaching was pitched very well, given the differing levels of yoga experience across the group. I found the classes quite challenging, but always in a structure where I was freely able to explore and expand my yoga practice."

"I didn't really know what to expect when I first arrived as it was my first yoga holiday! But I was so impressed - firstly by the hotel, my lovely big room, also the pool area was so pristine and well designed, the meal on the first night was delicious and healthy which is exactly what I hoped for. The structure of our days was well thought out. Obviously the yoga sessions were FANTASTIC and the brunch afterwards was a great idea to all sit down together. I was lucky to meet such a great group of people and we all got on so well. I have been so inspired by this holiday and from my daily yoga with Nicole, I am determined to keep it up and squeeze in as many classes as I can in my routine, also I would love to return to Spain to learn from you again. Thank you so much!"

"Little bit anxious before arriving ..just the unknown and knowing I hadn't done much yoga, imagining everyone else would be fantastic at it .. but of course I neednt have worried. Lovely hotel, lovely smiley Nicole on arrival, great first yoga session ..pretty sure I was nearly asleep at the end of it! The hotel poolside was lovely & the hotel owner was fab. We laughed a lot - maybe more than I'd anticipated we would - & met some properly lovely people which I guess shouldn't be surprised at given that we were all at least similarly minded to have ended up in the same place together. Came away feeling much more supple and 'powerful' though, having returned home, the bad back I had before I came on the retreat has re-appeared! Maybe I'm allergic to home!"

"I had such an amazing time on this yoga retreat- it was everything i was hoping for. I was able to relax but at the same time able to join in on activities when i wanted including the guided walk and cooking class. The food was delicious and healthy, the hotel was intimate and beautiful. Gary and Nicole were great hosts and brilliant teachers. I enjoyed both the Pilates and yoga- but overall preferred the yoga. I also met some great people . I would definitely recommend this retreat for anyone looking for time out in a stunning setting."

"I can honestly say that there is nothing more than could have improved the programme for me. I thoroughly enjoyed every single moment and have returned home with renewed energy and vigour. The venue was perfect, as was the hospitality and facilities in the hotel. On the two occasions I opted to deviate from the programme, I was actively encouraged to enjoy my alternative choices as "it was my holiday" - and that is how I felt every single day. I have raved about my holiday since my return. From my personal point of view, I am already planning that a Yoga Breaks in Spain holiday is becoming a 'must have' to achieve the balance I want in my life."

  • Review by Andrea

"I felt anxious on arrival largely because of being with an unknown group but felt much better after first meal once Nicole asked everyone about themselves & their expectations of the break. Without that it would have been impossible to get people to talk over dinner. The Pilates teacher was an unexpected surprise as I was not sure I would cope with Pilates but she was so positive and inclusive with humour that it was impossible to resist trying very hard for her! I was unsure about meditation but really enjoyed it - mainly because the teacher was so un-hippie about it all and just got on with it!Nicoles yoga is exceptional and gives a great deal of her heart to the group, the holiday and the yoga. Her conviction and care is conveyed in many ways. My lasting memories are getting better at yoga day by day, being part of a group that grew to understand and enjoy the differences in people and the kindness of everyone (often conveyed by humour) that enabled all of us to practice yoga and Pilates so well. Thank you very much indeed."

"My experience this time, as it was last time, was amazing. The hotel itself is elegant and full of character and the staff could not be more friendly or helpful. It catered for my every need in such a lovely, low key manner, I couldn't have felt more comfortable."

"You literally couldn't have made this break any better. I know that's probably not that helpful but it's true! Overall it was perfectly planned and thought through. Our well-being, energy levels and comfort were always clearly at the very forefront of your minds. The yoga and pilates were amazing - even when I didn't 'feel' like it (like first thing!) I still felt compelled to go and only ever felt better for it. I felt nourished and cared for throughout. But I want you to know also that the little surprises each day did not go unnoticed and just made it that bit more special. We all felt loved, how amazing is that?! Thank you both so much, you really are marvellous people."

"I had a truly wonderful time, one of my best holidays to be honest. The blend of exercise, lovely people and wonderful location was just perfect. I would also like to have had another day or so just to completely relax. I have to say the lady that did the therapies was awesome and I think that everyone ought to have a go at the Chakra balancing and crystal healing as part of their package as it is a beautiful experience."

"As Ive been before it felt like "coming home" on the arrival day. And, as before, I was surprised again how the group merged and felt closer together at the end of the stay. As always it was a pure pleasure to be part of the retreat and I was sad to leave on Tuesday. Please keep it up. Hopefully, I'll see you again next year!"

"I calmed down over the five days, became more centred, more mindful and in a better place. I felt the whole holiday had a yogic thread throughout and so the benefits were cumulative. I had a glass of wine on a couple of nights and that was a mistake as you notice the effect the next day -my fault! As ever when you return home you feel different and you always hold on to a bit of that .. so you are ever so slightly changed for the better. It's was a great opportunity to have time for reflection and then moving on."

"Many, many thanks for such a wonderful yoga break. I so enjoyed my yoga sessions with you and learnt a lot to help me on my yoga journey. The level of yoga was just right - not too easy nor too difficult. My practice since coming home has improved after working with you. Some of the things you said really helped. I have just felt so happy on my return a sort of glow with lots of energy. Long may it last! I really liked the hotel, the people and the ambience of the place gave me time to read, rest and recuperate. So for me it was all perfect - I would certainly come again."

"I just wanted to thank you for the inspiring, life-transforming experience I had with you in Denia. Your kindness, warmth and happiness is so obvious and how you easily share that with total strangers is amazing. You are such good role-models for the power of yogic lifestyle. I came back to Iceland relaxed, centered, focused, inspired and had found my inner peace again. I'm back on track with my yoga and some answers about what to do with my life -isnt it amazing how much can happen in less than a week?"

"What a wonderful few days this has been. It's been an ideal way to detach from life & gain some space. The hard work & passion you put into the programme is so clear & I truly feel pampered & cared for. Your attention to detail & excellent planning made it particularly special. I was blown away by the standard of the hotel in terms of the comfort, the service and the quality of food. I can't wait to come back with a friend."
