Getting fit and healthy doesn’t just mean spending hours sweating away in a gym. Join Yoga Breaks Spain for daily yoga, Pilates, cardio boost sessions, beautiful hike into the nearby mountains, guided bike ride, and super delicious healthy food. This yoga and fitness retreat holiday makes the most of the beautiful Spanish climate as you will be taking some of this program into the great outdoors to boost the feel good factor of exercising outside in gorgeous, sunny weather.
This resort you will be staying at opened in 2009 with one aim in mind - to create a special place that provides the services and facilities necessary to achieve an optimal lifestyle through complementary and conventional medicine, good nutrition, exercise, stress management, and personal development services.
Onsite fitness facilities are superb and include a 12.5-meter indoor pool, infrared sauna, an outdoor lagoon pool with sunbathing terraces, a multi-purpose ball court, and two gyms, one with free weights, cardio machines, boxing, and Pilates equipment and the other with a range of weight-assisted isokinetic machines to sculpt and tone all main muscle groups in a 30 minute circuit.
There are also yoga and Pilates studio, peaceful meditation room, a spa that offers pampertastic facials, massages, and body treatments plus an onsite thermal spa with Jacuzzi, steam room, ice plunge pool, and infrared sauna.
Unless you are bringing a friend to share with you, you’ll have your own spacious guest suite equipped with double or twin bedroom, en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, a comfortable lounge with international TV, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, safety deposit, a maid service, and a bijoux kitchen (not that you’ll be cooking as this retreat includes all your healthy and nutritious meals).

The daily yoga sessions combine the deep stretches of Hatha with the warming flow of Vinyasa together with deeply restorative Yin yoga postures. The sessions focus on synchronizing breath with simple Vinyasa sequences to warm the body, stretch muscles, and open joints allowing your practice to feel like a moving flow linked to the breath.
The Pilates sessions are mat based and focus on strengthening and toning the major muscle groups using proficient Pilates movements and a variety of Pilates equipment. During your stay, there will also be a meditation workshop where there’ll be a chance to sample various mind calming meditation techniques.
Yoga and Pilates sessions are suitable for keen beginners, those with a lapsed practice, and intermediates. The teaching style is precise but relaxed. There’s no pressure to create perfect postures, what’s more important to is that you pay attention to how the postures feel in your body.
Likewise there’s no room for ego as it’s not what this retreat is about. It doesn’t matter what other people are doing around you, just work with what you have. Be patient, keep practicing, and your body will open up and let you back in.
Yoga Breaks Spain believes fitness should be fun and so they have created a program that includes a variety of activities to boost your cardio and respiratory function, tone and sculpt your muscles, improve your flexibility, and soothe your nervous system.
As the resort has such excellent facilities, the majority of activities take place on site, but Yoga Breaks Spain will also get you out into the beautiful natural countryside nearby for an (easy to moderate) guided bike ride and a mountain hike.
Please remember, you don’t have to be super fit to join these retreats. The trainers and instructors are here to inspire you to find your boundaries not push you beyond them. You’ll always be encouraged to work at a level and pace that suits your strength and stamina. And, if there’s a morning where you fancy a lie in or an afternoon where you prefer to stay by the pool and skip class - that’s fine. Yoga Breaks Spain wants you to do as much or as little as you like!
The days begins slowly and quietly as you wake up sipping a cup of herbal tea and some fresh fruits before your day begins with opening your body and senses in a yoga or Pilates session.
Then, feeling awake and vibrant, time now for a healthy, nutritionally balanced breakfast before you head off for the day’s fitness activity - guided mountain hike, personal trainer led circuit training or guided bike ride - making the most of the gorgeous weather before returning to the spa resort for a super delicious healthy lunch leaving the afternoon free to relax by the pool, enjoy some pampertastic therapies, have a 1-2-1 personal training session, or make use of the gyms.
Most afternoons, you will regroup for an evening wind down yoga or Pilates session before supper and bed.
Remember that all activities are optional. It’s your holiday so do what you wish - the aim is that you leave this retreat feeling fitter, healthier, relaxed, and de-stressed.
Nicole qualified as a yoga teacher with an Excellent Diploma after a two-year yoga training course with FRYOG (Friends of Yoga International) and has since gone on to train with some of the yoga famous, and not so famous but equally fabulous, teachers including Shiva Rea, Liz Lark, Godfri Devereus, and Claire Missingham.
Saras passion for yoga begun as a student of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga whilst living in London. Shortly after returning to Spain she trained to be a yoga teacher with the Yoga Center of Madrid. Having successfully completed an in-depth Yoga Therapy training in 2008, Sara is now able to blend her Yoga Therapy knowledge into all her classes to help you enjoy a yoga practice that is right for you and your body.
This retreat is located on the edge of La Nucia, a Spanish town some 45 minutes north of Alicante and 20-minute drive to the beach. This fabulous yoga fit holiday will be held at a purpose built health and fitness spa resort, an hour north of Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) where every guest has their own spacious, superbly equipped guest suite.

Naturally, food is a very important part of feeling healthy and so all meals are included in your stay. Each day begins with some fresh fruits and herbal teas to help you slowly awaken. A delicious buffet breakfast or brunch is served each morning after class together with lunch and suppers each day.
The menus focus on using locally sourced fruits and vegetables and the majority of the meals will be vegetarian or vegan though fish will be offered on some nights too for those that would like it.
You will have free time every afternoon to relax by the pool, use the gym, thermal spa, read, or book therapies.
There is an on-site spa available including indoor pool, sauna, and thermal spa circuit. The spa also offers a wide variety of holistic and beauty treatments and massages during your stay (subject to additional costs).
Please book your flight to arrive at Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC). Yoga Breaks Spain offers airport transfers at selected times for an extra cost. The pickup is between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on arrival day and arrival back on final day is for midday.
Transfers are 40 EUR per person. Flights outside of these times can be accommodated with a private taxi or public transport. Please contact Yoga Breaks Spain for details before booking flights.
If you miss the transfer service or fancy travelling with the locals, there is a regular resort 'hopper' bus that offers a regular service from and to Alicante airport to the yoga town of Denia. This service can take up to two and a half hours depending on number of stops en-route. Please ask Yoga Breaks Spain for more details.
If you wish to catch the train to Denia, you first need to take a cab to the north end of Alicante harbor where you will find the local tram service called the FGV (Ferrocarril de la Generalitat Valenciana) which calls at various towns en-route to Denia which is the end of the tram line.
Taking the tram to Denia requires one change at Benidorm but apart from that it’s a pretty easy journey, just slow that’s all.
