During this retreat, you will be staying at the resort with the option of a private room or a shared twin room. If you’re coming on your own you’ll be given your own spacious suite as Yoga Breaks Spain never ask guests to share. Of course, if you’d like to share with a friend that’s totally fine!

Each suite is equipped with everything you could possibly need. You’ll have a double or twin bedroom, bathroom with hairdryer and complimentary toiletries, a lounge with international television, and Wi-Fi, hot and cold air-conditioning, safety deposit, and a bijoux kitchen, not that you’ll be cooking as these retreats are full board.

Plus, a maid service to keep your suite fresh and sparkling during your stay. If you would like to bring and share with a friend there are some two bedrooms and two-bathroom suites too.

Program

Yoga Breaks Spain does not mind if you want to skip morning class for a lie in or stay by the pool and miss the afternoon session. It’s your holiday, please come and do exactly what your soul desires. Yoga Breaks Spain has thought of everything to make your retreat as enjoyable as possible and leave you feeling pretty darn amazing!

The yoga and Pilates session

The daily yoga sessions combine the deep stretches of Hatha yoga with the warming flow of simple Vinyasa sequences and deeply relaxing Yin yoga. The yoga practice will improve your mobility and flexibility and open your body beautifully leaving you feeling incredibly calm and balanced.

Pilates sessions are mat based and focus on strengthening and toning the major muscle groups using proficient Pilates movements. During your stay, there’ll also be a meditation workshop where you’ll sample various mind-calming meditative techniques.

The yoga and Pilates sessions are suitable for keen beginners right up to the super experienced. The teaching style is precise but relaxed so expect to hear plenty of alignment cues to keep you safe. There’s no pressure to create the perfect looking posture, what’s important is that you pay attention to how the posture “feels” in your body. Likewise, there’s no room for the ego as it’s not what Yoga Breaks Spain is about.

Fitness activities

Yoga Breaks Spain believes fitness should be effective but fun and so, together with yoga and Pilates, they have created a programme that offers the optimum balance of strength building, muscle toning, cardio health, and stress relief.

Included in your stay are three activities a day. A mix of yoga, Pilates, hiking in the mountains, biking on calm lanes with awesome views, cardio work, strength training, hydro fit, calming meditations plus time each day to relax and enjoy the sunshine. All activities are optional.

So, if you’d like to skip class, you’re welcome to chill by the pool, have a lie in or be pampered with therapies. This retreat is all about you. You don’t have to be super fit to join these retreats! The instructors are here to inspire you to find your boundaries, not push you beyond them. You’ll be encouraged to work at a level and pace that suits your strength and stamina.

For the group session, there will be a mix of high-intensity interval training, body toning, strengthening, and cardio using a mixture of free weights, bands, kettle bells, TRX, air boxing and your own body weight.

The complete program overview

Days begin peacefully as you wake slowly with a cup of herbal tea and fresh fruit before opening your body with yoga or Pilates. Feeling awake and vibrant, time now for a super healthy buffet breakfast after which there’s time to relax a little before we set off into the great outdoors for one of our fitness activities.

All activities are included in your holiday. There’s a guided hike to one of the favorite spots, a variety of group training sessions to build strength and stamina, a guided bike ride on calm tracks with awesome views and a hydro fit water-based toning class.

Yoga Breaks Spain knows that solo time is important too and so each afternoon is free for you to relax by the pool, to swim, enjoy therapies, use the gym (if you have extra energy!), to chat, read, or have a guilt-free snooze.

Late afternoon, you will gather again for yoga or Pilates before supper. All activities are optional, do as much or as little as you like. This is your holiday, there are no rules. Yoga Breaks Spain is here if you want them but they completely understand if you need time on your own too.

Nicole qualified as a yoga teacher with an "Excellent" grade Diploma after a two-year yoga training course with FRYOG (Friends of Yoga International) and has since gone on to train with some of the yoga famous - and not so famous but equally fabulous teachers - including Shiva Rea, Liz Lark, Godfri Devereus, and Claire Missingham.
Sara
Saras passion for yoga begun as a student of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga whilst living in London. Shortly after returning to Spain, she trained to be a yoga teacher with the Yoga Center of Madrid. Having successfully completed an in-depth yoga therapy training in 2008, Sara is now able to blend her yoga therapy knowledge into all her classes to help you enjoy a yoga practice that is right for you and your body.

Retreat location

Yoga Breaks Spain is delighted to be hosting this retreat at a purpose-built Health & Fitness Resort set in peaceful grounds on the outskirts of La Nucia town, 45 minutes north of Alicante. The resort was founded with one single aim, to create a destination where guests could relax, rejuvenate, learn, and enjoy an experience out of the ordinary.

The resort facilities are excellent and include spacious guest accommodation. You’ll be given your own suite, an indoor pool, infra-red sauna, outdoor pool, yoga and Pilates studios, two gyms, one with free weights and cardio machines and the other with weight-assisted isokinetic machines to sculpt and tone muscles, a peaceful guest lounge plus, a suite of spa therapy rooms offering an excellent choice of pampering treatments.

During this retreat, you will be served daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Full board nutritionally balanced and super healthy plant-based meals include fresh fruit and herbal teas each morning as you wake, superb selection of hot and cold healthy dishes on the breakfast buffet each day, highly nutritious lunches daily, and super tasty three-course dinners each evening.

Meals are predominantly plant-based though fresh local fish is offered one evening for those that would like it. Gluten and dairy free diets are welcome with advance notice.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC). Yoga Breaks Spain offers a private group airport transfer from/to Alicante airport which is 40 EUR each way. Journey time is an hour. You will leave the airport on arrival day between 11 a.m. to 13 p.m. and arrive back at the airport on the final day at approximately mid-day.

Please ensure your arrival flight lands no later than 12:45 p.m. on arrival day to allow sufficient time to collect your luggage and meet the driver. On the final day, you should book a flight that departs no earlier than 13:30 p.m. For flights outside of the transfer service, Yoga Breaks Spain is happy to either, book a private taxi, or book you on an airport shuttle bus service from and to Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC).

Arrival by bus

If you miss the transfer service or fancy traveling with the locals, there is a regular resort 'hopper' bus that offers a regular service from and to Alicante airport to the yoga town of Denia. This service can take up to two and a half hours depending on the number of stops en-route. Please ask Yoga Breaks Spain for more details.

Arrival by train

If you wish to catch the train to Denia, you first need to take a cab to the north end of Alicante harbor where you will find the local tram service called the FGV (Ferrocarril de la Generalitat Valenciana) which calls at various towns en-route to Denia which is the end of the tram line.

Taking the tram to Denia requires one change at Benidorm but apart from that it’s a pretty easy journey, just slow that’s all.
