Whether you’re a beginner or have a regular yoga or Pilates practice, this retreat will meet you where you are with separate classes for keen beginners and the intermediate or advanced and workshops to help deepen your practice. Plus, when you’re not doing yoga or Pilates there are activities you can join if you fancy. There’s a guided walk in the countryside, an optional bike ride, hike in the mountains, aerial yoga class and lots of lovely healing therapies too. Or, perhaps you want to just relax by the pool and soak up the sun, head to the beach, to snooze, read, chat or explore the nearby beautiful town of Altea. Decide how you’d like to spend each day on waking. Bliss!
You’ll stay at a 300-year-old olive farm that’s been owned by a local Spanish family since the very beginning. The farm has been renovated into a traditional country house hotel with 20 spacious double rooms each with private en-suite bathroom, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer, and fresh towels, hot / cold air-conditioning, mini-bar, TV, safety deposit, telephone, Wi-Fi, and a daily maid service.
There’s a pool in the garden, a small gym and sauna, a restaurant and more recently, a light filled yoga studio with awesome views to the mountains. All solo guests are given their own double room for single use. Yoga Breaks Spain doesn’t ask you to share unless you want to bring a friend to share with.
The hotel has a very special location as it sits at the very point where the countryside meets the edge of town and so there are far reaching tranquil views and yet, it is an easy 10-minute stroll to the very pretty town of Altea and 25 minutes to the beach. And the lovely hotel owner, Vincenta, brings you fresh eggs from her hens and bakes breakfast cakes for you each day.
Yoga and Pilates, when practiced together, create a strong toned body, excellent alignment and increased flexibility. You’ll feel stretched without being pushed beyond your physical limits.
Each day includes a session of yoga and a session of Pilates. No-one will feel out of place or under pressure as there is a class for keen beginners and a class for intermediate / advanced. The teachers are dedicated to their chosen field of yoga or Pilates and so what you’ll receive is the pure form of both disciplines not a "yogalates" blend.
Pilates sessions are mat-based with a variety of efficient Pilates movements and equipment to build a strong toned body. Yoga sessions include the deep stretches of Hatha with the warming flow of Vinyasa flow yoga to stretch muscles and open joints whilst synchronizing breath with movement.
In addition to the daily yoga and Pilates, there are five workshops to help deepen your practice. There are two "Essentials" workshops where you’ll run through the elementary basics for yoga and Pilates, two "Intensive" immersions one each for yoga and Pilates, and a calming meditation workshop. Together, yoga and Pilates create a strong toned body, excellent alignment and increased flexibility.
Each day begins with a cup of herbal tea and fresh fruits while you slowly awaken. At 8.30 a.m. you’ll head to your 90-minute yoga or Pilates class. Get ready now for some nourishment from the buffet table with seasonal fruits, wholesome cereals, egg dishes, yogurts, locally grown tomatoes, Spanish cheeses and cold cuts, freshly squeezed orange juice, assorted breads and pastries, preserves and homemade breakfast cakes. Then, depending on the day, you could be :
Late afternoon, you’ll have another yoga or Pilates session before supper. There’ll be a meditation workshop on Sunday evening instead of yoga and Pilates class.
