Transformational Yoga Teacher Training Costa Rica

Pura Vida - in English “the Pure Life”, is a local greeting used in Costa Rica to express eternal optimism with all the incredible beauty in this life no matter what your current circumstance. Come join Yoga Bohemia in Costa Rica and begin to connect with the Pura Vida essence that resides in you! During this training, the setting will be on the culturally and environmentally rich Nicoya Peninsula, which is also one of Mother earth’s 5 “blue zones” (one of the five locations in the world designated as the happiest, healthiest, and longest-living communities in the world!) to study and practice yoga right on the incredible beach of Santa Teresa (a world-class surf spot), looking over the world. This training takes place at the INCREDIBLE beachfront Villa Palm Grove complete with our own PRIVATE beachfront yoga shala! During this training we will spend the majority of our time in the incredibly posh, Balinesian inspired, beachfront Villa Palm Grove - situated in the #1 voted beach in Central America, and amongst a Palm covered landscaped filled with incredible wildlife including Howler and White Faced Monkeys! We will also journey to higher elevations of the area, colliding with the Cabo Blanco natural reserve, connecting with the Earth and Air, and embracing the unique opportunity that the mountains and jungle have to offer. Another part gives us the space to encounter Fire and Water, submerging yourselves and your senses, in the cooling waters of the Pacific and soaking in the heat of the Sun.

Palm Grove villa is Idyllic and luxurious, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. There are palm groves sitting on four beach-front acres facing the Playa Carmen surf-break. The Palm Grove, with its 75 or more coconut palms, mango trees, papayas, water apples, limes, bananas, and almond trees, is a monkey magnet. Sit in the wicker sofa overlooking the pool and watch the howler monkeys busying themselves and their babies on their way from Manzanillo to Malpais. The Palm Grove also offers a full gourmet kitchen, pool table, swimming pool, hammocks, caretaker, safes, and air-conditioned bedrooms.

Students who complete their training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Immersing yourself in the culture (an integral part of this training), you will experience a Cacao ceremony, the local surf, and beach communities, take Japa walks through the jungle leading to crystal clear waterfalls, and witnessing diverse wildlife including howler and white-faced monkeys right in the forest canopy above!

Taking into account the environment and how you affect it, a Seva Yoga volunteer activity will revolve around environmental and wildlife conservation, a very important element to life in Costa Rica. And finally, enjoying daily in healthy, local cuisine, the Pura Vida mindset will just come naturally. It’s not just Costa Rica that will influence the Pura Vida perspective. Through your journey with Yoga Bohemia, you will be encouraged to look within, to shed layers, relearn all that you know, and truly find the Pura Vida in you. This program will not only provide you with your Yoga Alliance approved 200/300-hour certification but will also provide an experience like no other.

This is a journey, into the self, diving into the waters of Pura Vida, with you emerging pure and new on the other side. By learning how to tap into your own inner harmony and wisdom, experience the raw and genuine beauty of the life-changing practice of yoga. Dive deep into the ancient teachings including practicing and teaching asana, pranayama, and meditation, as well as the unique and modern method to develop creative, effective, and safe asana classes designed to enliven and inspire the body, mind, and spirit.

The new curriculum, designed with a balance of personal enrichment combined with teaching methodology, covers such diverse topics as the history of yoga, ethics in modern times, physical and subtle anatomy, biomechanics and physiology, asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques. Through this program, delve into the vast teachings of yoga from ancient to modern times, experience the life-changing results, and then learn how to effectively share your wisdom and experiences with others.

Included in this training is the profound yet simple enjoyment of Costa Rica’s natural beauty including how to teach both Vinyasa and Yin styles of yoga in both the studio and in the local environments, modifying classes for beach yoga, yoga hikes, and yoga for surfers. Live more mindfully, bring your inner rhythm into focus, and then step into your power as a yoga teacher. 200-hour trainees will receive fundamental training and practice in topic areas while 300-hour trainees grow upon fundamental teaching methodology and receive both one-to-one and small group breakout sessions designed to achieve mastery over content areas. 300-hour trainees must take 4 additional 25 modules for our 300-hour ONLINE program to earn their certification (at a discounted cost).
