Join Yogablu Australia on the lush south west coast of Sri Lanka for a very special retreat experience that will connect you with nature, soothe your soul, and ignite your spirit of adventure! A lovingly crafted program of yoga and rejuvenation practices blended with nature and ocean play will allow you to step away from your daily life to completely rest and restore.
Both single and twin share accommodations are available. All rooms have air conditioning, ensuite bathrooms, expansive balconies or terraces overlooking the tropical gardens, and pool. Service of drinks and snack are also available on site. Retreat guests will stay in one of two accommodation venues situated just 500 meters apart, either a short walk or cycle (bikes are provided).
The first of the venues is the former home of a famous village Ayurveda doctor, now been styled as charming and exclusive boutique accommodation and set amidst four and a half acres of garden. Dappled with fruit and medicinal trees, palms and orchids, the property is a sanctuary for native and migratory tropical bird life with expansive views of of the gardens from all accommodation and overlooking the raised colonnaded pavilion and sparkling freshwater infinity pool.
The secondary venue is a newly built colonial style villa also set in similarly lush and tropical gardens brimming with bird life and with a sparkling inground 30 meter pool. Both venues will be used for various retreat activities.
Dutch colonial bungalow restored to it's former charm, private open column verandah, with sweeping views of the old estates extensive garden. It features a king, private, and twin bed room with air-conditioning and shared bathroom.
Named after the coconut palm that rises from the verandah, overlooking the exquisite garden. It features a queen or twin bed room, air-conditioning, and ensuite bathrooms.
Elevated suites with open veranda providing views across the garden and pool. It features a queen or twin bed room, air-conditioning, and en-suite bathrooms.
Located 500 meters down the road, this modern colonial villa is set among private gardens. Sweeping verandas overlook the grounds and its own private pool. Guests choosing to stay here have full access to the main retreat residence amenities and able to enjoy relaxing between the two locations. Some of the retreat program shared activities will also take place here. The villa features a queen size or twin beds, air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms, and verandas.
On the eighth day, there will be a group farewell dinner with private cultural dance and fire eating performance.

The yoga practices shared on retreats is a blend of Yin (soft and still) and Yang (flowing and energizing) styles of yoga. Morning practices welcome the rising of the sun and awakening of nature with a more dynamic Hatha flow practice, and the afternoons are purely Yin practice to wind down in preparation to take extra, deep rest. The classes are suitable for all levels including beginners.

Group day trip to explore the historic city and old fort of Galle located a couple of hours south of the retreat location. The actual day this will take place is yet to be announced.
A trip to visit the nearby center will be scheduled. All Yoga Blu Australia's international retreats support grassroots conservation projects and this center is the receiver of that support and donations on this particular retreat.
This shorter exploratory tour will take you to a nearby temple resting in a lake. The tour lasts approximately three hours.
Fiona is a yoga teacher, retreat co-facilitator, and the founder of Yoga Blu Australia. She began her yoga journey in 1999 with the Sivananda Vedanta Yoga Organization in the Bahamas and Canada. She has completed her Hatha teacher training. Her travels have seen her sharing yoga in Queensland, Broome (home for seven years), regional Western Australia, and now Perth
The retreat location is situated along the Bentota Lagoon and nearby the coast, approximately one and a half hours south of Colombo.
From the retreat venue, you will have easy access to surf breaks, the lagoon, and inland waterways, natural sanctuaries, spice lands, temples, and many other coastal treasures. Enjoy ocean play with some snorkeling, diving, surfing, and paddling adventures and the lush tropical surrounds perfect for cycling and walking adventures. The local villages provide colorful insight into the magic of Sri Lankan culture.

Breakfast will be provided daily as part of the retreat experience with local fresh fruits and dishes prepared at the main retreat residence. Two group dinners are shared both on the first evening and then on the final night accompanied by a local fire eating performance. Special dietary requirements can be catered for with advanced notice.
Explore the local surrounding environment of beaches, river and, mangrove area. Take a trip into the hills to experience untouched rainforest, spice fields, or tea lands. The area is also known for both wild and very special architectural gardens open to the public.
Nature lovers can enjoy a scenic cycle trip across picturesque paddy fields, a 125-year old Katukoliha temple with its Dagaba located at the highest point of elevation, Dutch architectural houses, the mullegoda temple with beautiful murals, and the Dedduwa lake.
The Kande Viharaya temple is a short distance away and has a long history dating back to 1734. It has an important link back to the Buddhist cultural and religious activities of Sri Lanka. Here you can see devotees dressed in white flocking the temple grounds daily.
A Sri Lankan cooking class can be arranged once arrived for those interested in cooking up a cultural feast.
A one-hour massage by local therapists is included in the retreat package for all guests. Additional massages and other spa services will be available nearby with more details available upon arrival. Sri Lanka is renowned for its amazing Ayurvedic healing system and treatments. Prepare to indulge!
Please book your flight to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). Transfer from the airport upon arrival is not included and guests should arrange their own transfer to their accommodation of choice. A group transfer will depart Colombo at 11am (Galle Face Hotel) and 11:30am (Mount Lodge) on Sunday the 6th of November, 2016. This will be the only transfer available.
Please ensure that you arrive at least the night before so as to allow for ant unforeseen delays, and to arrive relaxed ready to start your retreating adventure. A return transfer to Colombo will depart Bentota at 11am (from our retreat location) on the final day (Monday 14th November) for those wishing to travel that way.
