Meditation and Yoga Retreat Spain

This yoga and meditation retreat will be held in a 14th century palace in the Spanish Pyrenees. The retreat center is in Arrieta, which is a nice little mountain village where time seems to stop. The tranquility of the setting makes it ideal for meditation, relaxation, and reconnection with your essence often lost in the stress of the city. You will be staying in the Yoga Ananda. There are double rooms and single rooms provided with wooden boat beds, offer Wi-Fi, shared bathrooms, and a wardrobe to store belongings. All rooms are exterior and have a spectacular view to the Navarra Pyrenees.


This fascinating vacation takes place in a mansion of the fourteenth century fully renovated a decade ago. The reform has respected the plant and traditional furniture to preserve the historic legacy of the house, passed down for generations. You will enjoy Spanish sun and the healthy air of the mountains. Relax, hike, and meditate in the lakefront of Irati forest, the second largest forest in Europe, which is a magical place. Visit the historic Collegiate of Roncesvalles, medieval Basque landmark loaded with mysticism and energy, birthplace of the ancient Kingdom of Navarra, and the Saint Jaques Way.

You will practicing these five yoga styles: Ashtanga yoga, Sivananda, Hatha yoga, Scadinavian yoga school, and Raja yoga. From the moments of action (Karma yoga) to the maximum introspection (meditation), the day is filled with many moments that must be filled with full consciousness to touch the eternal blessing of being. Furthermore, they will provide tools to take this experience into your daily lives. As a result, the willingness to participate in all activities is very important.

Karma yoga is an action of harmonious co-existence service, like kitchen and maintenance. Hatha-Raja yoga are postures, breathing, relaxation, and meditation. Bhakti yoga are mantras, mudras, and ritual, while Jnana yoga are reflections on the fundamental concern of the human being and to get rid of suffering. On the other hand, Kundalini yoga Tantra is a relationship with your primordial energy and its expression in your relationships. The communion with nature is the awareness of Tattvas or elements through walks, working in orchard, etc.

Irati Forest

You will have a meditative walk in the Irati Forest, which is the second largest and best preserved beech and fir forest in Europe, an immense green mantle of some 17,000 hectares that is still in an almost unspoiled state. Sit down in the heart of the forest to meditate, relax, and enjoy communing with nature. Let yourself be enveloped in a silence broken only by the wild rushing of water between the beeches and firs. Admire the crystalline currents of the river Irati that turn turquoise in the Irabia reservoir and listen out for the elusive sounds of the fauna and stroll across the soft blanket of grass that covers the Irati Forest. The scent of the woods will impregnate itself in your skin.


You will visit Roncesvalles, this place has an important place history and legend for the defeat of Charlemagne and the death of Roland in 778, during the battle of Roncevaux Pass, when Charlemagne's rear guard was destroyed by Basque tribes. The collegiate church contains several curious relics associated with Roland. Since the middle ages, this collegiate church has been a favorite resting place for Catholic pilgrims along the Way of St. James, since it is the first place to have a rest after crossing the French Pyrenees. Every year, thousands of pilgrims begin their way to Santiago de Compostela at Roncesvalles.


Jon Kepa
Jon Kepa's love for yoga began in college. He is the Hatha yoga teacher for Alboran and GFU, and Ashtanga yoga by International Association of Yoga Teachers Sadhana. He is a transpersonal therapist by the Spanish School of Transpersonal Psychology, gestalt therapist by Ananda Psychotherapy, trained in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) by IPH, and Systemic Therapy Psicogestalt, and he graduated in psychology from Saint Louis University in Missouri, USA. Jon is also a Usui Reiki Master.
