Celebrate spring by joining yoga-ahimsa for an unforgettable days practicing Hatha yoga surrounded by the beauty of the Italian countryside. You will learn to acquire an awareness of the body and breath and to work towards strengthening the body, calming the mind, opening the heart, and cultivating balance in the face of life’s challenges, and find deeper access to one’s joy and potential.
During the retreat, you will stay in shared rooms with en suite bathroom that can sleep up to three persons. You can also choose to be accommodated in a large restored barn that sleeps up to four persons. For all accommodation, bed linen and towels are provided.
The retreat will include ten yoga classes. Meditation and relaxation form a large part of classes as well. Between classes you will be able to swim in the pool equipped with deck chairs or simply rest in the garden among olive and fruit trees.
The word Hatha means willful or forceful. Hatha yoga refers to a set of physical exercises (known as asanas or postures), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation. Hatha also translates as "ha" meaning “sun” and tha meaning “moon.” This refers to the balance of feminine and masculine: moon being feminine - receptive and cool - and sun being masculine - active and hot. Everyone has these aspects within on the inside. Hatha yoga is a path toward creating balance and uniting these opposites.
Theresa's Hatha class is a mindful and nurturing practice working on the physical postures (asanas) to develop strength and correct alignment, with a strong focus on breathing exercises (pranayama) to help to induce clarity of thought, tranquility, and concentration and to be more present in the unfolding of each moment. Her classes also include meditation and relaxation to turn attention inward and help to calm the mind and reduce stress with a strong emphasis on awareness rather than just technique, and helps guide students to discover their inner teacher.
The classes are accessible to everyone.
There will be a day trip to Sabaudia, one of the most beautiful beaches of the Southern Lazio coastline.

Theresa has been a student of yoga since 1999. Theresa’s main teaching is Hatha yoga, practicing the physical postures (asana) to develop strength and correct alignment, with a strong focus on breathing exercises (pranayama), emphasizing awareness of the breath, as well as technique. Meditation and relaxation also form a large part of her classes. She also teaches Restorative yoga and yoga for pregnancy. Theresa also completed the Yogacampus Pregnancy yoga teacher training with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and the “Relax and Renew” teacher training in Restorative yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater.
Situated on top of a hill surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and vegetable plots and located just three kilometers from the center of Velletri and 40 kilometers from Rome, Chez Raz is an idyllic location for a yoga break.
The surrounding area offers many possibilities for those who enjoy the outdoors and nature. Characteristic villages and towns can be found perched on the nearby Lepini mountain range. Natural parkland and lakes are within ten to thirty minutes’ drive offering even sports lovers’ ample opportunities for nature treks on foot or by mountain bike.
For lovers of the sun, sand, and salt water, Chez Raz are situated a convenient distance from the best beaches of the central Lazio coastline. At not more than twenty minutes by car, you can find the lakes of Castel Gandolfo and Nemi. Otherwise, lose yourselves on an enogastronomic adventure from town to town in the Castelli Romani.

You will be served daily brunch and dinner. Brunch menu consists of fresh fruit juice, coffee, tea, milk (soya, rice, and cow’s milk also available), whole wheat pancakes with fresh fruit compote, bananas, homemade yoghurt, almonds, walnuts, homemade bread, honey, butter, and eggs. Dinner will be a different vegetarian meal. Snacks such as fresh and dried fruits, nuts, and breads are also available throughout the day.
The food provided to you is varied and wholesome, with the menu suiting the majority of dietary preferences. Although yoga-ahimsa do not specifically cater for vegans or people with food intolerances, the ingredients can be tailored to suit, and if yoga-ahimsa have sufficient advance notice, they will source alternative products.
Between classes, you will be able to swim in the pool equipped with deck chairs or simply rest in the garden amongst olive and fruit trees. Or you can join Italian cookery lessons, trips to local picturesque villages, and a guided walk. The costs of these additional activities are 25 EUR for each activity.
Please book your flight to arrive at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (FCO) or at Ciampino-G. B. Pastine International Airport (CIA). Transfer from and to these airports is available upon request. The transfer cost from Fiumicino is 70 EUR and 50 EUR from Ciampino for a maximum of four people per car.
