Join to a a yoga and salsa dancing humanitarian visit to the long sought-after city of Havana and beyond. You will explore the city re-emerging as one of the hottest cultural centers in the world. Cuba is loaded with rich history, incredible music, art, amazing food, charming people, and lots of soul. This retreat will include yoga daily, private salsa dancing lessons with professional Cuban dancers plus nights on the town with live music to continue the practice, meals, excursions, and a humanitarian project to aid Cuban families in need. You will be supporting the people daily with our donations, cultural exploration, as well as sharing yoga with the locals.
Casas particulares are private homes that rent out a few rooms to travelers. Staying in a Cuban home is an incredible way to get a real taste of the culture and to experience the Caribbean lifestyle. There are three homes for the retreat, which are particularly charming and hosted by some amazing families.
The first home is a house, while the other two homes are located in an apartment building, which is just a quick walk down the block from the host home. The apartments have two bedrooms, a living area, kitchen, bathroom, and balcony.
This retreat will take you to the streets finding emerging artists at work in their studios. You will explore the latest privatized restaurants, bars, and art centers to support the local population beginning to have a hand in creating a new Havana. You will stay in a beautiful home in the hip neighborhood of Vedado, just a short taxi ride away from Old Havana. You may choose to pass the evenings sipping Havana Club with the locals on the porch watching the night go by, making it an early night and turning in to relax, or heading out to see what the Cuban nightlife has brewing. Either way you will find an amazing Cuba greeting you with open arms and warm smiles. You will enjoy delicious home-cooked meals and amazing Cuban hospitality in this steamy, tropical, pulsating city.
Yoga sequencing will be deeply inspired by the love and respect for the Cuban people. You will move consciously and breathe deeply in an effort to ground and immerse ourselves in the magic of this culture, focusing on unity. Unity of breath and body as well as the unity you share when you merge with other cultures realizing we are all one and the same at our cores. You will explore this amazing city together with open and grateful hearts embarking on this new experience together as you contribute responsibly to those in need. Please note that the Itinerary is subject to change as necessary according to circumstances and any unforeseen changes in the plans. The intention is to keep as close to this schedule as possible but this is Cuba and at times you could find yourselves at the mercy of the powers that be. Yoga Adventures Worldwide will adjust and accommodate as best as possible if this occurs. Havana operates on a later schedule which is why days are running later than the typical retreat schedules.

Native to Huntsville, Ontario, where she owns Sacred Breath Yoga studio, Wendy’s teaching style is intimate and inclusive, leaving you with an invitation to begin where you are in your body, and allow the journey to unravel from the inside out. She weaves a tapestry of practical guidance, subtle details, and deep insight so that you may access a pathway to self-discovery unique to yourself. Wendy has 12 years of teaching experience and she follows the roots of the Hatha yoga tradition.
New York Yoga Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Yoga)
Nina has been practicing yoga for more than ten years. She grew up watching her mother practice meditation and yoga, which was an experience that made a profound impression and deeply influenced her approach to wellness. Nina completed her 200-hour registered yoga teacher training at New York Yoga, studying under Michael Gilbert. She simply wants to give students what she continues to receive from her teachers, which are love, peace, and the simple things that slowly started to change her life.
This retreat will take place in Havana, Cuba.
To begin your days full of energy, there will be coffee, tea, and fruit available every morning before yoga practice. You will also enjoy delicious home-cooked meals and eat in some of the best restaurants in town.
