Shane Christopher Perkins

Christopher has been facilitating Yoga Teacher Trainings since 2003 and has over 20 years of meditation and yoga practice. His teaching style is dynamic and intuitive, mixing creative movement with a powerful asana practice. Christopher has the gift to bring his students through fun and challenging flow sequences while cultivating the shared awareness that is Yoga. His passion for yoga philosophy and yoga psychology is a part of his daily life and weaves naturally into his teachings. Christophers presence inspires those around him to enter their hearts and connect to their truest potential.

Christopher was raised SKMC Meditation Center in Bowling Green, Virginia. He requested initiation to a meditation practice at age 4, and while he led a normal childhood, he studied with Sant Darshan Singh until age 16. In his early twenties, after attending VCU for fine arts, Christopher spent two years as an apprentice of John P. Milton, training in Sacred Passage (wilderness meditation) and QiGong. This time of deep transformation included several solo wilderness retreats, ranging from 2 to 28 days. In 2005 Christopher spent 6 months in India and Nepal, where he attended teachings and went on retreats, undertaking extensive practice in Vipassana Meditation and Tibetan Buddhist Meditation.

Christopher has studied with many inspired yogis across the world, including a 500 hr training with Dharma Mittra, as well as trainings with Daniel Odier Kashmirian Tantra, Shiva Rea Vinyasa Flow, Hanneli Francis Anusara, Baba Hari Das of the Mount Madonna Center, T.K.V. Desikachar Yoga Therapy, and senior Iyengar teachers Kevin Durkin, Victor Oppenheimer and Gloria Goldberg. Christopher is also an inspired musician and singer, with a lot of love for kirtan.

Amber Young

Amber Young has been a part of the Yandara teaching staff since 2009. She was introduced to the yogic concepts at a young age by her mother, Mercy, a bhakti yoga kirtan musician, as well as a certified yoga instructor. Amber started practicing asana at age of 20, to relieve her body of daily pain caused by several sports injuries. An athlete her whole life, Ambers style of teaching has an emphasis on alignment, energy, and strong dynamic movement. She also works with yin yoga, pranayama, meditation, mudra, and enjoys bringing laughter into her classes. Amber inspires her students to enjoy themselves while teaching and practicing yoga. She has been living in Baja, Mexico since 2007 and offers yoga classes in Spanish to the local public.

Sarasvati Young

Sarasvati came upon Yandara with her family in 2007, and has been teaching since 2010. Her style and energy in the classroom is a balance of inner strength and surrender. She has had the pleasure of studying mantra and kirtan with her mother, Mercy Ananda, a bhakti musician who is a member of Yandaras kirtan band, Jaya. In 2012 she studied with Daniel Odier, a Tantric Yoga master and author of the book "Desire". Her receptive and joyful nature invites exploration on the mat and a playful outlook on life.

Inspired by the transformations she sees in the students at Yandara, Sarasvati holds a loving space for all to express their unique gifts with the community. More than anything, she believes in the power of a group, where each individual puts the best parts of themselves forward to heal the Earth and all beings!

Nicolina Sandstedt

Nicolina's inspiring presence, and teaching style, is organic and intuitive. Through yoga and movement meditation, she offers a unique gift of guiding her students to explore their own flow. By allowing each movement to arise from within, we can experience a sense of freedom at a much deeper level. To me the ancient teachings of Yoga are an invitation to be deeply curious about the flow that we call Life, and to cultivate it on all levels of our being. It is a practice of moving through any stagnation or blockage so that awareness can permeate us.

At age 18, Nicolina left her home in Sweden with a thirst for deeper understanding of herself through yoga and the ancient cultures of the world. She spent the following 6 years traveling, with 3 long stays in India. The spirit of India will always be with me, as an inspiration and foundation for my practice and teaching. Nicolina completed her first Yoga Teacher Training with Yandara Yoga Institute in 2006. Between 2007 and 2008, she lived and worked at Yandara, and later returned to Sweden to complete her degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Gothenburg. The deep understanding of anatomy and physiology is an invaluable support in her profession as a yoga teacher.

Nicolina's training and teacher certifications are with Shiva Rea (Prana Flow), Angela Farmer & Victor Van Kooten (Underground Yoga), Sarah Powers (Yin & Vinyasa), Biff Mithoefer (Yin), Kevin Durkin (Senior Iyengar teacher), Corrin Adams (Vinyasa), and Sivananda (Classical Hatha Yoga).

Yandara Yoga Institute is a beautiful oceanfront retreat nestled beside the Pacific ocean of Mexico's Southern Baja Peninsula. Nature, seclusion, unspoiled white sandy beach and abundant fresh fruits and vegetables paired with the easy travel access from USA and Canada create the perfect setting for a world class yoga teacher training. Stroll the miles of peaceful beachfront or simply relax and meditate to the ever-present rhythm of the waves. Two miles up the beach is one of the premiere surfing beaches in North America. The local climate is ideal with the sun shining year round, refreshing sea breezes and a clear sky unique to this part of the world fabulous for stargazing. Yandara is in a rural, very safe and crime free location.

"I am excited to share my experience about my yoga training. It is a cleverly designed program. There is lot of love, warmth, understanding and support all the way through. They make you leave the training a newer, better you well equipped to start teaching yoga right away. The atmosphere within the group is like a family! I feel that I made friends for life. I would highly recommend the training to anyone pursuing the goal of becoming the yoga teacher. "

"I have learned how to incorporate my love for yoga and my beliefs into a lifestyle. I have met people that have expanded my hunger for knowledge. I have found a place where I am in my element. I have learned to relax more and I have learned more ways in which I want to be a better person. I laughed a lot. The meditation practice was wonderful because there were people like the Perkins's to inspire us. Also the environment we were in was so safe, everything was taken care of. So we could use our "internal eyes". The asana practice was wonderful. I deepened my practice and learned more about my body so I could teach my students. The Yandara experience was a beautiful, non-judgmental, comfortable environment to look deep into ourselves and get support from each other. It was amazing. the beauty and the changes will stay with me forever."

"My experience at Yandara has been an awakening for me. I have begun a lifelong journey and I want to spread to others the joy and love I have discovered. Satya (the practice of truthfulness) has allowed me to open myself up and although I have my work cut out for me, I am drawn to finding out who I truly am and what my purpose is in this universe. The chanting we do in Satsang invigorates my heart. The harmony we create is so unique to me. The staff at Yandara has been helpful and has open hearts and opened minds. The cooks make great food. The program is complete. My experience at Yandara has been incredible and I will take what I have learned with me into whatever my future holds."
