Yandara's Sound Bath and Yoga Nidra Training is open to all levels and is an elective part of the Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Program. Lead by Mercy Ananda, a highly skilled yoga teacher, musician, and sound healer, with more than 50 years of experience, you will explore the sacred art of Sound Bath and the relaxation-based meditation technique, Yoga Nidra! You will learn what you need to create deeply meditative and rejuvenating sound baths and guided relaxations for yourself and your students. This program is well suited to dedicated yogis and teachers that are looking to add depth to their practice and enrich their classes. This retreat-style training will be nurturing for the body, mind, and heart. Yandara Yoga Institute will prioritize the cultivation of a calmer, more heart-centered state of being through daily regenerative practices and activities.

At the Baja, Mexico location Yandara Yoga Institute offers a few different choices for accommodation.

Deluxe tents

The majority of yogis that attend the teacher training choose to stay in the deluxe tents. These are big tents that most people are able to stand up in. Each tent has a normal twin-size bed and mattress, a small set of drawers, and a lamp. Bed linens are provided, but they do not provide a bath towel. Comfortable and yet still close to nature. Yandara Yoga Institute likes to call it luxury camping. For couples, they can offer a larger tent with a larger bed. There are six bathrooms and eight showers on the campus.

Luxury canvas cabin

For more luxury during your stay, our canvas cabins are very popular! With polished concrete floor, comfy full size bed, down comforter, towels and plenty of space to store your clothes, these cabins are your perfect home away from home – nestled into the desert, yet still close to the beach.


A sound bath is a dreamy experience where tuning forks, Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, chimes, shakers, and other instruments are played intuitively. A sound bath promotes deep relaxation and peace. It brings a contemplative inner awareness of the now and helps to open the body’s energetic system. Enjoy and learn to create a transformative sound bath experience. Yoga Nidra is the practice of conscious deep sleep.

In Yoga Nidra, you will learn how to shed muscular, emotional, and mental tensions. Muscular tensions arise from the body, the nervous system and through endocrine imbalance. Emotional tensions arise from the duality of emotions such as love/hate, joy/sadness, success/failure, which we are not able to express freely. Mental tension arises from excessive mental activity. Some of the techniques used to cleanse these tensions include body scanning, concentration on different sounds, opposite sensations, rapid imagery, and visualization.

Through the practice of Yoga Nidra, you will cleanse physical, emotional, and mental tensions. This retreat is part of Yandara’s 300-hour advanced program. It is ideal for those want to advance their yoga teaching career and certification and also for those who simply want to deepen their own personal practice. The lead teacher for this retreat-style training module is Mercy Ananda (Sound Healer & Mantra Musician) together with the rest of the inspiring Yandara crew.


  • Prerequisite: If you intend to complete your 300-hour certification, a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate from Yandara yoga Institute, or other 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training is required. We also welcome all serious yoga students/teachers who are interested in the further study even if you don’t intend to complete a 300-hour certification
  • Contact hours: 90 hours
  • Non-contact hours: 10 hours (fulfilled by home study projects)

During this training, you will be served daily meals. Yandara Yoga Institute mainly serves vegetarian cuisine. Mostly beans, grains, and fresh vegetables. They serve fresh local caught fish twice a week. They also serve organic food as much as possible, some from their own garden. They are able to accommodate allergies to gluten, lactose, and nuts. As they are a small facility, they are not able to accommodate Paleo, raw, or other extreme diets.

Please consider your dietary needs and contact Yandara Yoga Institute if you have a concern. Some popular dishes are Pad Thai, vegetable Enchiladas, sweet and sour tofu with broccoli, grilled Mahi Mahi (fish) with herbs, coconut curry, samosas with cilantro chutney, house designed gourmet pizza, quinoa basil pasta, and lentil soup.
