Carolina Daza has been practicing and teaching yoga around the globe for a decade and for the first time will be hosting, together with Francesca Lo Cascio, a unique Colombian magical realism Yala journey. Enjoy a week of pure wellness for the deep regeneration of your body and mind!
During this retreat, you will be staying for five days at Casa Coraje, socially-responsible house in Palomino. It is a foundation started by renown singer Naty Botero who has been working on assisting, preserving, and improving the lives of indigenous children by providing education, healthcare, and food. This unique yoga program will reboot the spark of colorful magic in your life. After staying at Casa Coraje, you will continue your journey and stay at Cartagena for three days.
Included in the total cost of this retreat are journey from Palomino to Cartagena and then Barranquilla, visit to the famous "Batalla de Flores" carnival in Barranquilla, Castillo de Salgar tour, and city bike tour in Cartagena.
Francesca Lo Cascio
Francesca is an Italian architect and interior designer who expresses her creative flair in her job just as much as in everything she puts her mind to in her everyday life. Francesca has found the perfect recipe for inspiration and inner balance gleaned through her travel experiences, the practice of yoga, healthy living, and eating in terms of cultural and spiritual insight.
Carolina, also known as "the global yogini" is a multi-faceted artist and globe trotter. She completed her Yoga Alliance 500-hour Ashtanga yoga teacher training in Paris with Gérald Disse and Linda Munro at Ashtanga Yoga Paris and has been leading retreats for numerous years. Her teachers of pranayama, Ayurveda, and yoga philosophy are Sri OP Tiwari, Suddhir Tiwari of Kaivalyadhama Institute, and Smta Hansayi Jayadeva from The Yoga Institute in Mumbai.
Your journey will set off north in the sacred Sierra Nevada region, in the midst of the Parque Tayrona natural reserve, where Wayuu and Kogui indigenous groups live, followed by a delightful stay at the legendary walled treasure of Cartagena de Indias and shaken up by the culturally rich Carnaval de Barranquilla, surprisingly, the second-largest carnival in the world, celebrated since the 19th century (a UNESCO Heritage honoring its magnificent folkloric expression).
Cartagena de Indias is the undisputed treasure of the Caribbean coast, a fairy-tale queen of magical realism, legends, and superbly restored beauty in the midst of an impressive 13 kilometers of centuries-old colonial fortress walls. The historic old town seems like a fairy tale maze of cobbled alleys, balconies sprouted with colorful flowers, and massive churches that decorate the plazas.
Barranquilla, where Carolina was born and raised, is Colombia’s fourth-largest city, a busy commercial port that has served as a melting pot of cultures and religions. Famous colombians residents include Nobel Prize-winning writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez (with the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude near), Latina star actress Sofia Vergara, and Shakira, famous for her singing and dancing.
Be prepared to dance, dance, live and laugh. Don’t miss this opportunity of feeling and living for one week the purest Colombian magical realism.
Daily vegetarian brunch and diner are included in the total cost of this retreat, with the exclusion of lunches and dinners while in Cartagena and Barranquilla. You will be served purely fresh local vegetarian food while being surrounded by crystalline Caribbean waters that will surely re-energize your soul.
Please book your flight to arrive at El Dorado International Airport (BOG) and take a connecting flight to Simón Bolívar International Airport (SMR). Transfer from and to Simón Bolívar International Airport (SMR) are included. Yala Collective will pick you up from the airport.
