Retreat spaces

There is spacious meditation hall large enough for yoga classes, chant circles, and dance events and other various outdoor and semi-outdoor locations you can also utilize for your activities. Depending on the weather, temperature, time of day, and degree of privacy required, you will be able to find a space suitable for you.

Outwardly, you will explore some of the special locations of Ladakh, that will include ancient temples, sacred caves, majestic mountains, and stunning lakes.

Suggested trips and excursions

  • A camping trip is being considered, where you will have the opportunity to spend a couple of nights camped out under the stars in a scenic location, sit around a campfire, and take in the beauty of moonlit nights in the mountains. This will be optional for those who are not keen on camping.
  • A visit to one of the high and spectacular lakes of the Tibetan border regions of Ladakh. Either Pangong Lake or Tso Moriri are two of the options here. At this stage it is more probable to make a day trip to Tso Moriri at the time of the full moon, when you will be able to chant as the moon rises over this incredible lake.
  • Apricot picking in a nearby Saspol village where you can sample some varieties of Himalayan apricots.
  • Day trips to Leh - where you can explore the ancient capital of Ladakh, with its grand palace, many bazaars, ancient lanes and gardens as well as being a great place for shopping and restaurants.
  • Various walks in nature, taking in the majestic beauty of the Himalayas.
  • Visit an ancient and powerful cave gompa dedicated to Padmasambhava, the incredible tantric yogi and mystic who brought Buddhism to Tibet and the Himalayas.
  • Visit various Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, some where you may be able to chant inside their temples.

All these options are variable and depend on the weather and other factors, which is why Yak Trak - Unique Journeys are suggesting them as options, not as a fixed itinerary. With that in mind, they may also add other options as events unfold, in keeping with your flow with existence and nature. You have had great opportunities to experience the magic of the Himalayas as a result of being spontaneous in the past, and you will be kept open to this!

As a retreat based journey, you have the opportunity to enjoy yoga, meditation, walks, daily heart song, and conscious conversation. Yak-Trak will facilitate group activities to assist your process of connecting and merging as a group, so that your time spent together is light hearted, fun and joyful as well as deep and meaningful.

Kevin will share his music, guiding you through chanting each day into heart space. This both enhances your connection as a group, and also your connection to the incredible environment through which you will be travelling.

Daily chanting

You will begin your day with Kevin sharing what he simply calls his “morning practice” which involves a deep journey into the Aum and toning sacred sounds as he shares his profound insight into the nature of sound and the connections it has to every part of your lives.

You will be supported to open up to an effortless way of singing in your natural voice with emotion and feeling (the essence of Bhakti) and Kevin will explain how this has a direct connection to your true authentic self.

In the daily chanting sessions, you will explore some of the blissful trance states that come from certain mantras with the possibility to learn some of the more difficult mantras he doesn’t normally share in the circles. Also there will be the element of co-creation where Kevin will do his best to accommodate the desires of the group including some ‘one on one’ help if needed.

" The Himalayan Yoga Trekking was superb. It was the perfect fit of Trekking with yoga combined. We trekked through the stunning Himalayan mountains to an an altitude of 3900 meters at a reasonable, and relatively relaxed pace; furthermore, the morning and afternoon yoga was the icing on the cake for this trekking journey. In essence, we stretched before trekking and at the end of the day so as to relax those tired muscles. The food provided was vegetarian, organic and simply tasty. Yak Trak and its staff went well an above to accommodate everyone's preferences and needs. Super friendly! I just loved the team! Overall, it was an amazing journey which I highly recommend to anyone that is into trekking and that enjoys beginners yoga."

" I joined Yak Trak on a life changing motorcycle journey in June 2013. As soon as I signed up for the trip 6 months before, I noticed little waves of fear coming up within me. I discovered that the fears were only in my thoughts and the reality was that all was in my control. There was nothing to be scared of and the beauty of the Shiva mountains showed itself to me. Thank you Russell for an amazing journey, inside and out! "

" Zen Bullet indeed! I never could imagine what the hell these guys were on about; worlds highest roads, worlds oldest bikes, worlds most amazing experience! This was the adventure of a lifetime, and Im so grateful to be alive to tell the tale. More importantly, Im grateful to have lived long enough to be able to attempt it in the first place. I think I am actually speechless, for once. "
