Dining spaces

There are three main dining situations: the indoor hall with traditional style Ladakhi low to the ground carpeted seated around the walls, the outdoor patio space with tables and chairs and plenty of space to spread out, and the garden setting under the walnut tree next to the wood fired pizza oven. You can choose where to sit for each meal!

Retreat spaces

There is spacious meditation hall large enough for yoga classes, chant circles, and dance events and other various outdoor and semi-outdoor locations you can also utilize for your activities. Depending on the weather, temperature, time of day, and degree of privacy required, you will be able to find a space suitable for you.

This is a journey both inwards and outwards. There will be time and space for inward inquiry with daily practices of yoga, meditation, music, and dance, as well as your regular practice of deepening into the heart space with chanting, toning, and voice led skilfully by Kevin James.

Outwardly, you will explore some of the special locations right on your doorstep, including the local stream with a secret picnic spot, walks though the old village, silent meditative walks to the old monastery on the hilltop nearby, where you can also chant in the ancient Tantric temple. You will enjoy a day trip to a nearby village with sacred caves, lush gardens with flowing streams, abundant apricot trees and nurturing nature to relax in.

As a retreat based journey, you have the opportunity to enjoy yoga, meditation, dance, nature walks, daily heart-song, voice training and chanting practice. Group activities will be facilitated to assist the process of connecting and merging as a group, so that the time spent together is light-hearted, fun and joyful, as well as deep and meaningful.

Kevin will share his gift of music and voice, guiding you through chanting each day into ever deepen heart space. This both enhances your connection as a group, and also your connection to the incredible environment through which you will be travelling.

Daily chanting

You will begin your day with Kevin sharing what he simply calls his “morning practice” which involves a deep journey into the Aum and toning sacred sounds as he shares his profound insight into the nature of sound and the connections it has to every part of your lives.

You will be supported to open up to an effortless way of singing in your natural voice with emotion and feeling (the essence of Bhakti) and Kevin will explain how this has a direct connection to your true authentic self.

In the daily chanting sessions, you will explore some of the blissful trance states that come from certain mantras with the possibility to learn some of the more difficult mantras he doesn’t normally share in the circles. Also there will be the element of co-creation where Kevin will do his best to accommodate the desires of the group including some ‘one on one’ help if needed.

  • Kevin James Carroll

Weaving ancient mantra’s with his own prayers and hearts song, Kevin draws upon influences from traditional Indian Kirtan, Bhajans, Celtic and Sufi chants mixed with western folk sounds and world instruments. Since 2003, he has been leading chanting circles in and around Byron Bay, Australia as well as many other parts of the world as he travels the globe sharing his vision of heart centered connection and oneness.

" The Himalayan Yoga Trekking was superb. It was the perfect fit of Trekking with yoga combined. We trekked through the stunning Himalayan mountains to an an altitude of 3900 meters at a reasonable, and relatively relaxed pace; furthermore, the morning and afternoon yoga was the icing on the cake for this trekking journey. In essence, we stretched before trekking and at the end of the day so as to relax those tired muscles. The food provided was vegetarian, organic and simply tasty. Yak Trak and its staff went well an above to accommodate everyone's preferences and needs. Super friendly! I just loved the team! Overall, it was an amazing journey which I highly recommend to anyone that is into trekking and that enjoys beginners yoga."

" I joined Yak Trak on a life changing motorcycle journey in June 2013. As soon as I signed up for the trip 6 months before, I noticed little waves of fear coming up within me. I discovered that the fears were only in my thoughts and the reality was that all was in my control. There was nothing to be scared of and the beauty of the Shiva mountains showed itself to me. Thank you Russell for an amazing journey, inside and out! "

" Zen Bullet indeed! I never could imagine what the hell these guys were on about; worlds highest roads, worlds oldest bikes, worlds most amazing experience! This was the adventure of a lifetime, and Im so grateful to be alive to tell the tale. More importantly, Im grateful to have lived long enough to be able to attempt it in the first place. I think I am actually speechless, for once. "
