Accommodation

You will be staying at Bali Eco Stay, a small boutique resort with eight uniquely designed Balinese bungalows and pondoks. This is the ultimate hideaway and you will have all five acres of the sprawling grounds to yourselves. The resort is fed by crystal clear mountain streams and surrounded by food forest and organic rice paddies gently worked by the local community.

There are plenty of beautiful spaces where you can sneak away and be with yourself, go for a contemplative walk through the rice paddies and the fruit forest, sit by the waterfall, or take a swim in the creek that winds its way through the property.

You will enjoy your sleep in superior shared eco-bungalows. All beds featured in this resort are fitted with mosquito nets. Single use of bungalow is available at an additional cost.

How extravagant would it be to unplug for a week, bathe your soul in the verdant lushness of the southern slopes of Mount Batukaru, begin your days with sun salutations and contemplative stillness and nourish your body with scrumptious organic food, harvested within walking distance of your plate?

Imagine tuning into the sound of cascading waterfalls and the rhythm of nature punctuated by the gentle Balinese practices of spiritual worship. There will be plenty of free writing time, guided writing exercises, workshops, and feedback, including one-on-one feedback. The retreat is designed to nourish mind, body, and soul. Feedback will be constructive and gentle and you have the option to share as much or as little of your writing as you wish.

Every day begins with gentle yoga and sound bowl balancing meditations and ends with opportunities for after dinner chats and readings. Please note that this retreat is for the curious and the open minded. You will be sleeping in beautiful open Bali-style bungalows. For some of you, living in such close proximity with nature will be a new experience. Nature’s powerful embrace is deeply nourishing and soothing if you allow yourself to surrender to it.

Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy you a week of healthy habits that will leave you feeling deeply nourished, rebalanced, inspired, and re-energized. You will also experience sound bowl balancing meditation that takes you to a place where creative energy flows and the inner voice speaks freely.

The rich sounds you hear and feel when the bowls are placed on or around the body are a succession of frequencies that resonate in concentrically swelling sound waves, penetrating every cell of the body. Sound bowl balancing is like a massage at the cellular level.

Like an orchestra, your bodies vibrate at many different frequencies. If an instrument is out of tune, you feel off key and unbalanced. Too many discordant frequencies can affect your well-being, creating stress, anxiety, and disease. Sound bowls vibrate your frequencies back into balance and make mind, body, and soul feel in tune. Sound bowls balance the brainwaves of both hemispheres allowing you to journey deeper into your creative potential.

You’ll begin every day with a 30 minute sound bowl balancing meditation. When your frequencies are aligned, you have access to insight and focus.

  • Therapy; you’ll use writing as a form of self-care, to get to the deep stories, but Writeyourjourney’s instructors are not therapists, they just facilitate the journey to access your true voice
  • Network to get published or pitch industry experts
  • Lecture you on plot or structure
  • Athletic yoga; this retreat is not about Ashtanga or Power yoga, but will make you feel fabulous with gentle Hatha flow and Restorative Yin yoga
  • Critique your writing; of course you will share your writing in daily reading circles and you will have a one-on-one feedback, but this retreat is about letting your writing flow without judgment or anxiety
  • Preach Eastern philosophy; this retreat is about using mindfulness and sound bowl balancing sans all the esoteric fluff

On your first morning, enjoy a guided walk, exploring the vegetable gardens, the surrounding food forest, and the local village so that you can get your bearings.

Please book your flight to arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS). Transfer from and to the airport is included. Writeyourjourney will pick you up from the airport.
