Guest cabins are configured in unique ways but all have the following amenities: private baths with showers, a small living or sitting room, dresser, desk with chairs, rocking chairs, luggage rack, couch, robes, drinking water dispenser, and a private deck with a view. Small ceramic French-style heaters offer steady heat to most of the guest cabins and the main lodge is still heated by wood in the large, beautiful cast iron woodstoves. Daily housekeeping service available. The beds are fitted with high-quality linens, down duvet covers, and oversized pillows.
Gather at Makos water taxi on the Homer Spit for your scenic 20-minute boat ride to Tutka Bay Lodge. Meet the lodge managers for a brief orientation of the activities and lodge facilities. Check in to your private cabin overlooking Grace Ridge and Tutka Fjord. Plan your days with your private guide. Options include: kayaking in the bay, tide pooling, hiking in Kachemak Bay State Park, massage, cooking class, take a hot tub, join in the stretch and yoga classes, and interpretive hike through an old growth forest. Luncheon is served at 13:00 in the main room. In the late afternoon, cooking classes are offered in the kitchen with Kirsten, wine tasting in the main lodge bar area, and dinner at 19:00. After dinner, there is an evening education program on Alaska in the main lodge or fly-casting lessons on the dock.
Early morning gentle yoga class at 07:00 on the deck with views of Tutka Bay. Breakfast is served at 08:00. Choose between two adventure activities: join your guide for a day of bear-viewing on the Katmai Coast; or, meet your boat captain for a day of deep sea fishing for salmon or halibut. Finish your day of adventure with a nice soak in the hot tub and a dip in the bay.
After yoga and breakfast, you and your guide choose from a variety of activities: take a small walk through the private trail system. Join your guide for a kayak tour of the area and explore the abundant ocean life found in the Tutka Bay region. Take the day to explore nearby Grewink glacier. Appetizers are served at 18:00, and dinner at 19:00. Do not forget to book your complimentary massage.
Morning yoga on the deck before breakfast is optional. After breakfast, catch the water taxi back to Homer. Maybe explore the artist community of Homer and enjoy lunch at Within the Wild's La Baleine Caf.

Tutka Bay Lodge is located nine ocean miles from the charming seaside community of Homer, Alaska, along the Kachemak Bay. Access to the lodge is by a 25-minute water taxi south across the bay from Homer. Along the way, you might observe various shore and water birds, sea otters, sometimes orcas, humpbacks, and other marine mammals.

Consider adding a helicopter package to your lodge stay. Robinson R-44 helicopters are utilized at Tutka Bay Lodge. These three-passenger crafts allow the access to difficult to reach areas. Tours provided are fly-in hiking and fishing. At Tutka Bay Lodge, you will explore fossil beaches, travel to dramatic active glaciers, and land on remote beaches to explore.
Tutka Bay Lodge is surrounded by a rich history of native settlements, early Alaskan fishing communities and turn-of-the-century pioneers that scraped a living together fishing for herring and halibut. On this tour, you can visit the quaint village of Seldovia, visit Yukon Island, and explore the Herring Islands in search of clues from the past.

Rent a car and drive down the scenic Seward Highway from Anchorage to Homer. This takes about four to five hours.
Take a commercial flight from Era Aviation to Homer. Era offers frequent jet flights throughout the day and cuts the travel time to about 50 minutes. Another option is to charter a flight from Anchorage and fly directly to the lodge dock, about an hour and a half flight.
Flight options bring you to the village of Homer, where you catch a boat ride to the lodge, a 25-minute ride across Kachemak Bay.
