  • 3 nights accommodation
  • All beverages
  • Daily organic ayurvedically food
  • Extensive knowledge sessions
  • Instruction in the technique of rounding

The rounding constitutes three main parts: asana (yoga postures, designed to trigger deep transcendence), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation. When cycled together in a tailor-made program, you experience deep relaxation from where your body can heal and re-boot from its very core. Once learned, this technique can then be taken home and integrated into your daily practice. The bounty of benefits is extremely profound and experienced by all participants. It is estimated that a weekend’s retreat delivers as much rest as nine to ten months of twice-daily meditation. A rounding retreat is considered one of the most effective ways to establish oneself in a higher state of consciousness.

There are four main areas in which the different meditation types differ. First one is the practice, and this can vary from walking to laughing, concentration to effortless relaxation. Secondly, it is the scientific evidence; this has shown that there are in fact considerable differences in the way that the brain and body responds to different meditation techniques. Thirdly, it is the anecdotal evidence; there tend to be quite a lot of consistencies that are worth pointing out. The last one refers to practical considerations, where different techniques require different levels of commitment, set-up and environment.

Arrival by train

The retreat takes place in country house in Sussex, near the country town of Arundel, 1.5 hours direct train from London Victoria.

Admission requirements

The only prerequisite is that you have learnt Vedic meditation. Anyone who has learned TM (Transcendental meditation) is also welcome.

William is an independent teacher of Vedic meditation, working with individuals to sustain balance and achieve success in all areas of their personal and professional lives. William found meditation several years ago after experiencing protracted stress-related insomnia. He felt compelled to give Vedic meditation a try and it has had such an undeniably positive impact on so many aspects of his life that he has now dedicated his life to sharing this transformative knowledge with others.

After a year of increasing fascination with the subtle beauty of this new life tool, William started diving into all the advanced practices he could, learning everything that was available to be learned in Europe. A feeling of becoming a teacher started dawning within, but he sensed that in order to deliver this knowledge in the most powerful and relevant ways, he needed to go to the source and to explore every facet of this wonderful practice and to experience every modality he could.

A two and a half year global and spiritual odyssey ensued with his sweetheart Jess, seeing them meet with many great masters from across the continents whilst receiving the highest standard of training from the pre-eminent master of Vedic meditation, Maharishi Vyasananda. What Will discovered throughout this odyssey was that no matter what the rituals and no matter how interesting, complex, or hard core the rites of passage; the greatest and most powerful techniques were the simplest and easiest, available to everyone no matter what their circumstance.

It just required the right teaching. The essence of all the amazing Vedic knowledge, when stripped of the garb of mysticism, was in fact immensely practical and relevant to everyone back home. There was an incredible level of convergence between ancient wisdom and modern scientific understanding. Having satisfied himself that this most powerful ancient knowledge could be taught in the most empowering and liberating way possible, Will met up with his teacher and inspiration, Maharishi Vyasananda in Bali, where he spent four months completing the legendarily intensive Vedic meditation teacher training course.

Upon graduation, Will met up with his beloved once more and began teaching first in Indonesia and then India. But the call of home was pulling them and so they returned to Europe to begin sharing the remarkable fruits of their journey. And yet the journey is only really now beginning. Will now works with individuals and organizations across Europe to help them access their full potential and is committed to passing on this ancient knowledge in a way that is practical, enjoyable, and relevant to people of all walks of life.

When not teaching, William is busy working as program director for One Giant Mind, a global charity dedicated to promoting all forms of meditation and researching their effects on individuals and society.

Jess helps coordinate the many courses, retreats, and meditation groups that Will Williams Meditation runs in the United Kingdom and Europe; she also assists Will in providing dedicated student support services. She loves cooking and integrating the principles of Ayurveda into Western cuisine, so when she is not providing logistical and teaching support, she is sourcing local ingredients and cooking at home, at a retreat, or running ayurvedic workshops.

Jess is an architectural historian. She always had a deep fascination in the relationship between the built environment, the heritage, and the society. She worked in London for several years, coordinating projects throughout Europe and Africa, but she found the regular commute and stress of the work exhausting. Having witnessed with great interest the change in Will as a result of the meditation, and struggling under the demands of her role, she decided to give it a whirl. It was a lifesaver. Jess became efficient, she felt calm and balanced, and her anxiety and procrastination disappeared for the first time in her life.

She has always had a nomadic tendency, so when Will suggested they embark on an open-ended global odyssey to discover the roots of this ancient practice; she jumped at the chance. Whilst in India, she was privileged enough to be taken under the wing of the eminent Raju family of ayurvedic doctors and it was here that she learned the knowledge and application of this profound and holistic healthcare system. This knowledge which has served her every day since.

Back on home soil, she joined Will in dedicating themselves to ensuring the best possible service is provided, and full care and support is available for all who need it. She is also immersing herself in an apprenticeship program in preparation for her forthcoming teacher training in Vedic meditation in India next year.

All ayurvedically meals are prepared with local, fresh, organic, and biodynamic ingredients. Each dish is specifically designed to support the rounding program at any given time, so after each meal youll be wonderfully satisfied and purring with goodness.

"You can drink every day your green goddess juice, eat kale as much you can and doing your yoga but one thing that really made the difference is my mediation practice. I am honored to know Will and Jess, they have changed my life without a doubt. This is definitely the best choice I ever made! Just do it! Good luck on your journey!"

"Will and Jess are absolutely beautiful people and I have had an amazing journey with them! I did the course about 8 months ago and have now been to two retreats. I have to say, I was a bit sceptical at first but I am so happy I gave it a go. I was (and up to some extent still am) on a very dark place when I started and the regular group meds and their willingness to help me through this difficult time have made a huge difference. I am incredibly grateful for everything theyve done and for the amazing quality of teaching and ongoing support! I would definitely recommend anyone who is ready to try something new to sign up for the course, you will not regret it!"

"I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and my specialist kept on at me to start meditating. Ive tried and failed. How am I supposed to empty my head of thoughts? I said. You must find a way. he said. I came across Vedic meditation and thought that repeating a mantra sounded more my bag. I liked Wills setup as it seemed professional. Both he and Jess are great, super supportive and professional. I have recommended them already to friends. I have completed the beginners course, a rounding retreat and recently an advanced mantra course. I employ many approaches to help with my CFS, but meditation is the one thing that has a measurable positive effect on my wellbeing."

"Having first learnt transcendental meditation many years ago, Will has brought to me a much wider and deeper understanding of the Vedic knowledge that underpins meditation practice. He is a superb teacher with a great knowledge and passion for his subject and empathy for his students. Together Will and Jess are a fantastic team (and also lovely people!). I heartily recommend them to anyone looking to learn the basics of meditation, develop their meditation technique or to delve more deeply into vedic learning."

"I participated in this training somewhat by chance. And I do not regret it at all! This has made it possible for me to demystify the practice of meditation and to keep my life in balance, what I was missing. Jess and Will, I want to thank you. I have been struck by your kindness and your good energy. I cant wait to see you again in November for the retreat!"

"I learned to meditate a few months ago and still think this is one of the most amazing life skills to have. Im far more relaxed than I used to be and stay calm in situations that normally would have triggered a not all that calm reaction. I am more energised, get out of bed much more easily in the morning and generally feel so much more content and happy in life. Thank you Will!"

"Having tried counselling, hypnotherapy and other forms of meditation, I can say that Vedic meditation is the one which has been life-changing for me. For the first time in my life, I can sleep and think calmly before reacting to circumstances.Unlike other forms of meditation, Vedic meditation does not require to free your mind of all thoughts but to simply let those thoughts flow over you while concentrating on a mantra and in time, those thoughts become all but a distant murmur in the background. Thanks to this wonderful technique, meditation has become an intrinsic part of my life, without which I could not survive the daily stresses and troubles of life and wonder how I ever managed before.Im extremely grateful to Jess and Will for introducing me to the wonderful world of Vedic meditation and for providing a safe outlet via their weekly group sessions for releasing all the negativity which has built up over the years and which otherwise would have released itself in other undesirable ways. I highly recommend that you take the course, it will change your life!"

"Vedic meditation is such a beautiful practice. I am already feeling so many wonderful benefits, even after only a few weeks. It completely revitalises and energises me, so no more obligatory morning espressos! My sleep is now more peaceful and I wake in the mornings utterly refreshed. I have more energy, more motivation and I concentrate better at work. I also inadvertently discovered its a great hangover cure. The practice has also integrated into my life so effortlessly, despite the fact I am juggling the final year of my degree, working and a whole load of other life commitments. Its just that easy. Also, you want to do it every day because it gives you something a lot of us in the ultra busy modern world are lacking- time for ourselves. This has been the best thing personally- the meditation has created a space for me to just be.Will is fantastic teacher. He has in abundance what all great teachers have- knowledge, passion for his work and the ability to inspire. I felt so assured and confident from day 1. The course itself was such a revelation and I learned so much more than I ever expected. It was also great to meet so many other students and experienced meditators. I felt encouraged and warmly supported throughout and I still do.Learning vedic meditation is one of the best things I have ever done. It has been the ultimate gift of kindness to myself because every day I know my life is becoming more enriched and joyful because of it. I will end by saying what we all unanimously agreed on the course- I only wish I had learned earlier. "

"As a mum that works full time I really look forward to those two little pockets of time in the day that I dedicate to meditation. The sleep Im getting since I started mediating is good quality sleep and although I only manage 7 hours (and sometimes less if any little people get up in the night) I feel like I've had the 9 hours I would like to get. At weekends my 4 year old has taken to sitting quietly next to me while I meditate. Sometimes he just sits (and watches me, I think) and sometimes he looks at a book.It is now part of the weekend routine and he seems to look forward to it as much as I do. Better sleep is just one of the benefits. Being calmer and more tolerant of dirty dishes not put in the dishwasher or clothes not quite getting in the laundry basket but falling by it as well as people grabbing me at work as Im trying to run out of the door and the long commute back to Essex every day. Life just seems a bit more vivid and full of energy which is great for me but also my son and husband too."

  • Review by Tush from London, UK

"I first met Will and Jess in February 2015 and how life has changed since then! Following a weekend course where Will shared with the group all there is to know about the Vedic mediation practice, I left on that Sunday afternoon with a 50:50 blend of apprehension and excitement. Thereafter, as I practiced each day and got deeper into my mediation, apprehension quickly dissolved and excitement built! The beauty of this technique is its simplicity. 20 minutes twice a day and you are good to go!My life seems clearer and calmer and less confused since that February weekend - a new perspective on life if you will. So compelled was I with my new teachings that I convinced my wife to attend a course in May. She is now practicing daily also and just as passionate about Vedic mediation as I am! So much so that we have since taken our two children along to see Will and they have now started meditating also (I kid you not!) Its pretty calm and chilled in the mornings at our place nowadays after all four of us have meditated! Thank you Will (and Jess) for this truly amazing gift and personally, for helping me get my life back on track after my health issues. Much love to you both, Tush"

"Id had IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) for about seven years, which was getting progressively worse as time went on, before I met Will. I went to one of his introductory talks and he said that the meditation he taught could not only cure IBS, but had a whole host of other awesome benefits. Just being in the same room made my stomach feel better (which was hurting at the time!) so I thought Id take a chance. Its been about four months since I started meditating using the technique Will taught me and Ive had one tummy upset because I ate something bad. Anyone who suffers from IBS will understand what a miracle that is! It's magic.I had always considered myself a pretty chilled person, but there is a lot of background stress in life that I had never really noticed consciously, but was having a massive effect on my everyday life. Meditation makes me feel like MC Hammer stress cant touch this! Will and his partner Jess are awesome. The follow up support they give after the course has been great. They genuinely seem to care how youre getting on and if there is anything else they can help with and you can ask them any questions you have anytime. The free group meditation sessions are also really great because you can meet up with other people in the same boat and share experiences. I highly recommend it!"
