Seasonal information

Should a hurricane make it mandatory to evacuate the resort, individual guests will be reimbursed for the nights they are not able to stay.

Mobile / communication information

Check with your cellular service provider to see if your cell phone will function in Mexico and arrange service in advance. Wireless internet is available in the restaurant and at the front desk reception area. There is also a computer with internet access available for use at the front desk.

Two guest phones are available at the front desk for outgoing calls. Do not pre-purchase telephone cards as they will not function at the hotel. One phone works for 8 USD, which you can purchase at the front desk. This buys you eight minutes to call the USA and Canada. The resort also has a mobile phone that charges 2 USD per minute. The hotel has one phone for incoming calls for the entire facility, so please use it only for emergencies.

Electricity information

The resort’s generator produces standard 110 volts of electricity. It is recommended that guests bring travel size hair dryers, irons, and other personal items; or to bring surge protectors for use with higher powered items. The outlets will support battery chargers for phones and laptops or tablets.

What to bring

  • Beach towel
  • Body lotion
  • Clock or use the alarm function on a handheld device
  • Flashlight to walk around after sunset

Local expenses / money information

It is recommended that you bring approximately 300 USD to 500 USD cash per person for such goodies as spa services, excursions, taxis, entry fees, shopping, diving, equipment rentals, food, and bar drinks. It is smart to bring small currency such as 1 USD, 5 USD, and 10 USD because the front desk is limited on giving out change, which is always in pesos.

The resort accepts US dollars, Mexican pesos, and Euros. Your change is always given in pesos. To get the best rate, change currency at a bank, not the airport. There are five ATM machines and two banks in the town of Tulum, which is three and a half miles away. Maya Tulum accepts Visa, MC, and AMEX.

The resort suggests staff tips of 10 USD per day per guest; but spa therapists, shuttle drivers, and tour guides are not included and should be tipped separately. Additional tips are welcome. If you would like to leave a tip for a specific staff member, please make sure to include their name on the tipping envelopes located at the front desk.

  • Review by Treon K.

"Ashlie has a great inclusive teaching style. I came to the retreat basically because I am a yes to anything Ashlie does but I got so much more and I was turned upside down. I learned a lot about being still for a minute and listening to your inner voice, which opened up my heart and the possibility to experience exquisite joy. I highly recommend any retreat that Ashlie is a part of, because she will hold a space for you. Maybe, even one you won’t hold for yourself."

  • Review by Anne V.

"I have worked with Ashlie in a number of different ways. She has photographed my dogs, I have worked one-on-one with her as a student and as a participant at a retreat in Marble falls. The retreat, in particular, was an extraordinary experience. She has a talent of making everyone feel included no matter their level of experience. Our group ranged from total novices with only an iPhone camera to a professional photographer and all levels of experience in between. All of us felt very included and never felt like we didn’t belong. The skills I learned and the access to my creativity I gained will have me participate in anything she has to offer. Her teaching style is very gentle and loving. I never felt overwhelmed and always felt I was exactly where I needed to be."
