Practice yoga and feel the thrill of climbing hundreds or thousands of vertical feet with unbelievable views in this unique yoga retreat at Joshua Tree National Park in California, USA. This retreat is great for beginner, intermediate, or advanced athletes looking to push their skill level, and the morning yoga sessions will help you enhance your mental focus and awareness, as well as stretching out all those climbing-specific muscles. We also will have optional acro-yoga sessions to attend, if desired.
You will be provided three nights of camping accommodation during the retreat. There are also several homes and hotels you can rent in the Joshua Tree area if you prefer not to camp.
Whitney Base Camp & Climbing School will have a group campsite with campfires each night in beautiful Joshua Tree National Park.
The morning yoga sessions at the base of the rocks are nothing short of amazing, with practices specifically designed to enhance your mental focus, awareness, and stretching out all those climbing-specific muscles. It is the best way to prepare yourself for a day of climbing and learning new skills.
You will be divided into groups based on experience level and you will be taken to the crags until late afternoon. Some of the skills covered will include beginner climbing tips and techniques, lead climbing, trad skills, rappelling, building and cleaning anchors, and many more.

Tying a correct, retraced figure 8-knot, belaying with precision, getting comfortable with the gear, and basic climbing movement will be covered in highly efficient beginner courses of Whitney Base Camp & Climbing School. Amy Jo Ness, the founder of Whitney Base Camp & Climbing School, is known locally and internationally as an expert for the Southern Sierra Nevada in California. Having lived in Lone Pine for nearly a decade, Amy has spent thousands of hours exploring all that the area has to offer. World-class climbers and guides, Amy, and her team are offering individual and group outdoor experiences at the foothills of Mount Whitney in the majestic Alabama Hills. Amy has completed the American mountain guide association's rock guide course, is a wilderness first responder, and leave no trace certified.
Casey has earned her ERYT 200 and RYT 500 Yoga Alliance certifications under the tutelage of Sigrid Matthews, Noah Maze, and Matt Schwartz. Along the way to becoming a yoga teacher, she discovered AcroYoga and Thai massage in 2012, which blew the lid off of her already delighted mind, body, and spirit. She dove deeper, garnering both Level 1 and 2 certifications from AcroYoga.org, and taking multiple Thai Massage trainings. Her ability to maintain a beginner’s mind, even as her physical practice may look nowhere near beginner, keeps her offerings accessible, encouraging, and full of love.
