Located on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, Talalla is a serene and breathtaking bay that is the ideal setting for a yoga teacher training and retreat. Each morning, a stunning sunrise welcomes you to this pristine paradise and gives way to the tropical sun. The quiet bay comes alive with the warm breeze, the sound of the ocean waves, and the incredible variety of wildlife.

The facilities at Talalla Retreat are second to none. Well appointed rooms, excellent food, fresh juices, a large swimming pool, and the sprawling common areas are all yours to enjoy. There is also a very skilled team of massage therapists and a wide variety of indulgent spa treatments. The yoga hall is equipped with everything you need including mats, blocks, straps, and bolsters. Talalla will inspire, care, and create an atmosphere of discovery and possibility for all participants. All you will need is your deep breath!

Way Yoga International Sri Lanka Yoga Teacher Training Program

Way Yoga International stands for a creative yoga style, which also has a strong focus on intelligent alignment and with great emphasis on anatomical safety and joint care for healthy and responsible yoga. Class sizes will range from 10 to 16 students to ensure a quiet learning atmosphere.

Every day will be filled with theoretical and practical knowledge of yoga, yoga practices, and meditative walks on the beach and in the surrounding nature. You will be learning new asanas everyday, not only from your teacher, you will also be practicing to teach classes yourself to ensure you get a maximum of consciousness on how to correctly hold a class. At the end of your yoga teacher training, you will have the experience in leading at least one full class under a trainer's evaluation.

The whole program was built to suit the guidelines set by the American Yoga Alliance (AYA). Not only will you will learn about asanas, you will also learn about the spiritual and theoretical aspects of yoga. Way Yoga International will teach you about meditation, pranayama, the eight-limb path, chakras, Ayurveda, and more.


All 200-hours yoga teacher training offered by Way Yoga International are accredited by the American Yoga Alliance (AYA), the internationally recognized credentialing body for yoga teacher certification. Upon completion of training, you will receive a certificate from Way Yoga International that entitles you to register as an AYA Registered Yoga Teacher 200-Hour (RYT200) and you will be able to teach Hatha yoga as well as Vinyasa yoga classes for all levels.


  • At least 18 years of age
  • Have acquired some basic experience in yoga prior to the training (minimum half a year of practice)

You will receive a digital version of a script and workbook via e-mail. Please bring the script, workbook, and obligatory books with you to the training. On day 14, 15, and 16, students will be holding their classes for examination after breakfast. Day 15 is the day of the final written exam. Graduation certificate will be placed in your folder for you to download after you complete your yoga teacher training.

Please note, during the 16 days of training you will not have time to explore the country and should focus your energy on the training. Two lead trainers will be accessible for students during training hours.

Retreat location

This training will take place in Sri Lanka. Its 2000-plus years of culture can be discovered at ancient sites where legendary temples boast with beautiful details. The beaches are dazzlingly white and often untrod. They surround the island in a way that no matter where you go, you’ll be near a sandy gem. If you want to beat the inevitable languor, you can surf and dive world-class sites without world-class crowds.

Discover your favorite beach, meditate in a 2000-year-old temple, give and receive smiles while strolling a mellow village, gaze at birds and wildflowers, enjoy the little dishes that come with your rice and curry. Stroll past colonial gems in Colombo, then do yoga or go surfing. Sri Lanka is spectacular, it’s very affordable and it’s still often uncrowded.

Some might say Sri Lanka has been hiding in plain sight. Countless numbers of travelers have passed overhead on their way to someplace else, but years of war and challenges such as tsunamis have kept Sri Lanka off the world's sight. However, please note that you will not have time during the training to travel and discover the country. Please plan a trip before or after the training.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). After you arrive at the airport, you can either travel to the venue by train, shuttle bus, taxi, or car.

  • The deposit is fully refundable if the booking is cancelled up to 2 days before the arrival date.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
