This retreat will be led by Vivian. She practiced Yin yoga in 2008 and a 10-day course of Vipassana in Malaysia and Myanmar when living in China. She is an outdoor guide and translator in the Arctic since she moved to Norway. MSc. in Sports Management, Molde University, a specialty of marketing, media and sponsorship. She has 15-year of working experience as an international fitness instructor and trainer in Les Mills (Body Balance, Body Pump, Body Combat, Body Jam, Body Attack), and Zumba (children, adult, special groups), aquatic trainer for seniors. 2-year of working experience in Decathlon as a department manager. She would love to share outdoor experiences with you in this spectacular Norwegian landscape.

You will be accommodated in a guest house during the retreat, single room, shared bathroom room and toilet on different floors.


Day 1: Welcome

Guests are picked up from the AES airport to the accommodation, getting to know the area and following the welcome dinner, free evening and city walk.

Day 2: Kniven Viewpoint

Morning yoga starts at 8:15 a.m at guest house. Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

Climb to the most famous viewpoint of Aksla Hill, where the best view over Ålesund and its fishhook-shaped peninsula, as well as the mountains and islands beyond, head up the 418 steps to the summit of Aksla Hill and this panoramic viewing point. On a sunny day it's a cracking scene indeed, and it looks pretty special when the town lights start to twinkle at twilight, too.

Restorative yoga in the evening, as a warm-up for this week, with a goal to experience relaxation and restoration.

Day 3: Mountain Hiking

Morning yoga starts at 8:15 a.m at guest house. Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

Trollkyrkja (484 meters above sea level) is a superb hiking trip with less incline after crossing a forest, waterfall in a cave at the top is a big reward.

Lunch on the tour and dinner served with soup. Free evening and city walk.

Day 4: Sunnmøre Museum

Morning yoga starts at 8:15 a.m. at guest house. Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

Here, at the site of the old Borgundkaupangen trading centre, active from the 11th to 16th centuries, over 50 traditional buildings have been relocated. Ship-lovers will savour the collection of around 40 historic boats, including replicas of Viking-era ships and a commercial trading vessel from around AD 1000.

Yin yoga or Daoist yoga practices in the evening, to soften the muscle and help regulate the flow of energy in the body, as a good recovery in the middle of the itinerary.

Day 5: Mountain Hiking

Morning yoga starts at 8:15 a.m. at guest house. Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

A trip to the fjord and its surrounding isles, looking for the majestic sea eagle. Going from islet to islet, depending on the season, the chances of having a glimpse or two of the areas rich number of big eagles.

During the trip, there’s also a great chance of running into a few seals. Restorative yoga involves only five or six poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest after a long day travel.

Day 6: Trollstigen

Morning yoga starts at 8:15 a.m. at guest house. Breakfast at 9:30 a.m.

​Prepare yourself for an unforgettable adventure! Trollstigen (Troll Road) was built in 1936 with 11 hairpin bends. Every bend has a name, you can find it on the signs placed in every curve. On the side of the road, the mountains the King, the Queen and the Bishop will be watching over you.

Enjoy the stunning view over the valley and its surrounding mountains. Trollveggen (Troll Wall) is the highest vertical mountain wall in Europe, its ragged and often cloud-shrouded summit, 1800 meters from the valley floor, is considered the ultimate challenge among mountaineers.

Dinner served with soup after the troll day, a local famous bar in the sky is an option to relax.

Day 7: Ålesund Visit

Visit local market, church, or gallery before departure. At the end of this week with an unforgettable experience, it is not easy to say goodbyes, especially among an affectionate cohort. I am sure that we will reunite at other places in Norway soon.

Ålesund is a city on the west coast of Norway, at the entrance to the Geirangerfjord. It is known for the art nouveau architectural style in which most of the town was rebuilt after a fire in 1904, as documented at the Jugendstilsenteret museum. There are panoramic views of Ålesund’s architecture, the surrounding archipelago and fjords from the Mount Aksla lookout, the city is now the home base for Norway's largest cod-fishing fleet, and it's an attractive, lively place and unsurprisingly has some superb seafood to try.
