A seasoned clinical director and respected pioneer in the eating disorder and addiction treatment industries, Michelle brings her clinical expertise and her personal experience with the transformative power of yoga to her role as Vivasanas consulting curriculum adviser. In this role, she shares insight and expertise she has accumulated throughout her extensive career as a clinical care leader. For the past 30 years, Michelle has devoted her life to helping individuals overcome addictions, eating disorders, and self-destructive behaviors to live healthier and happier lives. A true visionary in the treatment industry, she was among the first to speak on national television about males with eating disorders. She was also a pioneering proponent of adopting a multidisciplinary treatment approach in which therapists, nutritionists, and complementary modalities like yoga and mindfulness, work together to serve the individual needs of each client.
Lisa Anns long and extensive background in mind-body modalities began in the mid 70s at the Los Angeles School of Massage. In the forty years since that time she has worked as a physical therapist assistant specializing in physical rehabilitation, built a thriving acupuncture practice, and gained nearly 10,000 hours of yoga teaching experience, Lisa s teaching is informed not only by her forty-year tenure as a mind-body practitioner, but also by her fierce dedication to spiritual awakening and self-development. A natural nurturer, she has mentored many yoga teachers and students. A consummate student, she is often known to say that teaching is the greatest education of all. It is through her yoga teaching that she continues to learn more about her own practice, and her relationship to the greater world.
Damade calls upon a professional dance background and her sixteen years of experience as a yoga instructor to co-create a dynamic and often profound experience for her students. Her teaching philosophy straddles the old-world yoga philosophies of the Himalayan tradition and todays Nouveau yoga. Through intuitive, mindful sequencing, and masterful pranayama techniques, she works with students who seek heightened awareness, and wish to learn ways to apply this increased awareness into their everyday lives. A true artist, her teaching is poetic in nature. Though her work is inspired by others, her classes are truly a work of art that are uniquely her own.
