Accommodation

You will be able to choose your own accommodation. They are all equally nice, very clean, comfortable, have nice gardens and views, most have squeaky clean pools and include free breakfast. Also, they are all less than a minute walk to the training area.

Both Permana and Gora are surrounded by serene rice fields and have a clean modern swimming pool. Bali Moon is slightly nicer in some respects than Gora or Permana, however, it does not offer a swimming pool. Nevertheless, swimming is an option at Casa Luna, where the yoga shala is, and where the best pool is.

Program

Day 1

  • On this first day Vishwa Yoga Journeys will just be greeting arrivals as they come in throughout the day and escorting you over to a free Balinese massage Vishwa Yoga Journeys will have set up for you (optional) at one of the local spas.
  • 19:00 Group dinner

Day 2

  • 07:00 Yoga For Jet Lag
  • 12:00 Group Lunch and Orientation at Casa Luna
  • 13:30 See the famous Saraswati Water Temple
  • 14:00 Visit the giant Ubud Street Market (but just look; don't buy anything until your 2nd or 3rd visit)
  • 15:00 Option to go to the big Bintang Grocery / General Store for those who realize what they forgot to pack (toothbrush, power adapter, deodorant, comfort foods, sandals, etc.)
  • Free Time - but with another opportunity to get a Balinese Style massage (esp for those who arrived to late on the previous day to get a massage). These will actually be scheduled throughout the afternoon until evening. Timings are staggered throughout the afternoon because they cannot take everyone at once.
  • 19:00 Yin Yoga and Meridian Tracing for Sleep

Day 3

  • 07:00 Meridian / 5 Element Yoga Class (After class, try to nap or jet lag will zap you by afternoon)
  • 14:00 Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
  • 17:00 Group Dinner: Ganesha Ek Sanskriti Authentic Indian Restaurant (best garlic naan on the planet! :)
  • 19:30 Yin Yoga and Meditation

Day 4

  • 07:00 5 Element Yoga Class
  • 08:15 Walk to Dragonfly Village for breakfast
  • 14:00 Yoga Nidra - aka Yogic Sleep, this refreshing practice also helps one to manifest their greatest intentions by putting them in the twilight state of being half awake and half asleep. It will also help fight off any remaining jet lag.
  • Free Time
  • 19:00 An evening of classical Balinese dances performed within an amazing Hindu temple.

Day 5

  • 07:00 Meridian Yoga
  • 08:30 Depart for Gunung Kawi, an ancient temple and funerary believed to be over 1000 yrs old.
  • 10:30 Depart GK for Tirti Empul Water Temple
  • 12:00 Lunch overlooking Famous Rice Terraces
  • 13:30 Luwak Forest; try out a giant Bali Swing or the famous"monkey poop coffee!"
  • 19:00 Thai Yoga Massage

Day 6

  • 07:00 Visit the world famous Yoga Barn for class
  • 12:00 Lunch at Pyramids of Chi cafe
  • 13:00 Sound Healing session inside of a pyramid
  • Optional: Although most entrance fees are covered by your yoga retreat fee, this event is not; and cost about 20 USD, but well worth it

  • 19:00 Thai Yoga Massage

Day 7

  • 07:00 Morning Hike on Campuhan Trail
  • 08:30 Yoga Class at The Lokha at their yoga shala down by the river.
  • 09:30 Group Breakfast along the trail
  • 10:30 Continue Campuhan Trail hike to see amazing Lotus Gardens. You might want to stay along the trail for lunch as well.
  • Free afternoon (It's hot! How about a massage? siesta? both?:)
  • 19:00 Thai Yoga massage

Day 8

  • 07:00 Depart for Tukad Cepung Waterfall
  • Breakfast will be at TCW and on the way back to Ubud we will stop at
  • 11:00 Goa Gajah, an ancient sanctuary known as the "elephant cave"
  • 14:00 Arrive back in Ubud
  • Free Time
  • 19:00 Thai Yoga Massage

Day 9

  • 07:00 Meridian Yoga
  • 14:00 Depart for Uluwatu
  • 16:00 See Uluwatu Temple complex
  • 17:30 Gather in Amphitheater for...
  • 18:00 See the mesmerizing Kecak trance dance / Hanuman drama, performed with the ocean and setting sun as a backdrop.
  • 20:00 Dinner on the way back from Uluwatu

Day 10

  • 07:00 Meridian Yoga
  • 11:00 Lunch at floating restaurant along the way to...
  • 12:30 Bali Bird Sanctuary - a surprising favorite, we all were sad when closing time came.
  • 18:00 Arrive back in Ubud
  • Free Time

Day 11

  • 07:00 Meridian yoga
  • 08:00 Depart for Green School tour
  • 11:00 Lunch on the floating Pagoda's

Retreat location

This retreat will take pace in beautiful Ubud, Bali, the island of the gods.

Food

Breakfast is included in the accommodation.

It may sound exaggerated, but so many of the restaurants in Ubud seem like holy places, too good to just eat there; nor do we. Vishwa Yoga Journeys loves to hang out for as long as they can to soak in the atmosphere, just chillin' and enjoying the Balinese hospitality which is second to none!

Previously, meals were covered on the tours, but in Bali it just doesn't make sense. There are so many places you can go and the budget range is just as vast; though for most westerners the prices you find most anywhere will still seem pretty good.

Expect to pay as low as 3 USD for a good meal on the low end, but if you pay 10 USD for a meal its probably going to be divine! Nevertheless, about 6 USD will get you something very satisfying for both your taste buds and your eyes.
