This retreat is for those who are curious about exploring the deeper transformative potentials of yoga and Alexander Technique in a safe an inspiring setting. It is called the process of 'becoming what you are', which takes place through working with ‘the four corners of transformation’. The four corners are body, food, emotions, and thinking. The Alexander Technique, as a method for integrating new experiences, is the perspective that bind it all together.

The retreat site is a ten-minute walk from the beautiful beach and the nature-rich area Ellinge Lyng. It is possible to enjoy a wood-fired wilderness hot-tub and to relax in the small private forest area. You can choose between a single or double (shared) room. If you are a group travelling together, VIRKELIG can offer rooms for up to four people.

Program

The retreat is based on Jeppe's approach to personal development which he formulates as a process of 'becoming what you are'. This process takes place through working with 'the four corners of transformation. It is not necessary to have yoga experience. This retreat is for those who are interested and willing to work in all four corners of transformation:

  • Exploring your bodily reality
  • Confronting our relationship to food
  • Working with and sharing both difficult and nice feelings
  • Exploring and challenging our normal way of thinking

Every day will start with a yoga session that warms up and creates increased bodily awareness. In the afternoon and evening sessions you will dive even deeper into inner experiences and contact work and practice sensing your own and other people's nervous system.

You will also investigate how food and fasting affect you, and it is possible to try a fast for up to three days in a safe, gentle and supportive atmosphere. You will talk about the theoretical basis for much of the work and challenge your normal way of thinking about your relationship to the world.

The retreat is led by Jeppe Juhl Christensen, who has gained experience with guiding people through transformative processes through 20 years as a yoga teacher and 12 years as an Alexander Technique teacher. For the past three years he has been training alexander technique teachers. He is a certified Imago-relationship therapist and is currently studying Jungian psychotherapy.

Alexander Technique

Every participant will receive three individual Alexander Technique lessons. Alexander technique is a unique form of body and consciousness work that usually takes place as one-on-one lessons. The teacher uses words and a gentle listening touch to guide the student to new ways of experiencing themself and their body.

It is a structured and systematic method of creating and integrating new experiences and possibilities. And in that way, Alexander Technique is the perspective that binds the entire retreat together. Each participant receives three individual lesson during the retreat, which provides an opportunity for individual guidance and support to go deeper into the process.

The Alexander Technique will play a central role throughout, and you will explore how the technique can support the work in all four corners. Each participant will receive three Alexander Technique lessons; one with Jeppe, one with Sarah and one with Anne, serving as an opportunity to experience and reflect on different ways in which the Alexander technique can be expressed.

The retreats take place at a retreat-center called Fyrregaarden, close to Sejerøbugten, which features some of the best beach-areas in Denmark. Here it will be possible to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and each other's company or turn more inwards into oneself.

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Copenhagen Airport, Kastrup (CPH). Transfer from and to the airport is not included. VIRKELIG will arrange car-pooling to the extent possible. It is also possible to take the train from Copenhagen Airport or Copenhagen Central Station.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 16.94% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
