During your yoga teacher training program, your stay will be at the Vinyasa Yoga Academy which is located in the most peaceful area of Tapovan, Rishikesh. The Academy has magnificent views of the mountains and a peaceful serene environment with lush green gardens and lots of nature around you.

After a 5 minute walk, you will find the market where you can buy organic products, local wares, food, restaurants and so on. The world-famous Laxmanjhula hanging bridge is situated within a 10-minute walk. The yoga hall is situated on the top floor of the building with beautiful mountain and jungle views. It is a peaceful place that allows your mind to become completely focused on your study and practice.

Vinyasa Yoga Academy has three yoga halls, 21 rooms, and large outdoor terraces. The large dining hall is situated on the ground floor with lovely views. Every room has a bathroom with western toilet and hot and cold shower. Students can choose single or double accommodation according to their needs. Rooms are spacious, open and light. Bedsheets, pillows, bath towels, toilet paper, and blankets are provided. Free Wi-Fi is available on every floor. The washing machine is free to use during certain hours of the day.

Course Program

The course has a duration of 3 and a half weeks. Classes will be held from Monday till Saturday, with a half day on Thursdays and an off day on Sundays. The full program can be found under ''Happy Yoga TTC schedule''.

Eligibility and Accreditations

Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Vinyasa Yoga Academy’s 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC) can be undertaken by any individual or group regardless of what level your yoga practice is currently or your background. Vinyasa Yoga Academy has hosted students from all over the World including USA, UK, Russia, China, Australia and more, they are truly a global family!

Assessments will be based on written assignments as well as practical evaluations, conduct observation and assessment - they want to make sure all aspects of your being reflects a true Yogi!

To get the 200-Hour Yoga instructor diploma the student needs to attend the 24 days duration course. Assessments will be based on written assignments as well as practical evaluations and student conduct will be a part of the assessment criteria.

Students will receive a welcome drink upon arrival. Fruits will be at the reception desk and students can take freely. For students coming from other hotels Vinyasa Yoga Academy is able to offer their car or scooter to pick you up and can help with anything you need, just let them know.

What can you do after the Course?

Upon completion of your course, you will be feeling like Rishikesh is your second home. There are so many things on offer for you to do and we can help you find what you are looking for. For example:

  • 1. You can come and stay at Samadhi Yoga Ashram, home of our founder Yogi Vishnu Panigrahi. Here you will have the opportunity of attending Satsang with him, including meditation and discourse, for free.
  • 2. If you would like to volunteer at Samadhi Ashram after the course you can message them so that their team can make arrangements for you.
  • 3. Vinyasa Yoga Academy has an orphanage and children’s school in Odisha that sometimes accepts volunteers.
  • 4. If you are interested in the Himalayan Mountains for trekking or hiking, Vinyasa Yoga Academy can help arrange the trip.
  • 5. Interested students can also join our 300- Hour Superpower TTC, Kundalini yoga TTC, Yin Yoga, Prenatal and Children Yoga TTC, drop-in classes & many different types of healing courses, with discounted costs.
  • 6. If the students are interested in having teaching experience we offer a Yoga internship program, and a space to teach drop-in classes at the school. Students need to apply for this.

If you need to leave early:

  • 1. Students who have an emergency and need to leave before their course ends are able to if it’s one or two days as Vinyasa Yoga Academy can arrange to complete the full course requirements in time.
  • 2. If a student needs to leave earlier than one or two days they will have to complete the course online. Then the certificate will be sent after passing the examination.

Free Day

Thursdays after lunch we have study tour and Sundays we have excursion tours arranged which are part of the full program. All are included in your course fees. On Sundays you will receive only breakfast and you can enjoy your lunch and dinner outside in the many beautiful cafes & restaurants.

Everything and everyone is a teacher, you only need to be ready to learn. If you are not ready to learn then even a great teacher cannot help. Verbal teachings cannot teach everything, you need to also have experience through your self-practice. Vinyasa Yoga Academy like to take their students to some places where they can learn something from their experience.

Every Thursday afternoon you will have a study tour

1st Thursday: Herbal garden and Acupressure Garden (in that garden students will walk with bare feet), they will be introduced to how herbs are related to your life, nature, planets and diseases. Very rare herbs will be seen there.

2nd Thursday: you will visit Vinyasa Yoga Ashram Guru ashram where Yogi Vishnu was taught and spent his maximum year for sadhana. You will have a chance to meditate in the same ashram. Students will learn about the ashram life and Himalayan Tradition of Yoga Meditation.

3rd Thursday: Temple visit. Yoga Culture of India is based on Temples. Temples hold the culture and richness in spirituality. Here it is not only a place of religion, prayers and chanting but it is a place of healing, emotional cleansings, spiritual science, art, culture, and much more. Students will be introduced to each God and how they are related to our life science.

POLICY

All classes are mandatory. Only in case of an emergency or illness can one take leave with respected teachers permission. Uninformed leave won’t be accepted and this will affect on student monthly performance.

Prerequisites

A high degree of self-motivation is required for all aspects of the course. The practice and especially the teaching of yoga demands a high degree of self-discipline and purity. To ensure the success of the programme, participants are required to attend all spiritual activities, meditation sessions, lectures and asana classes. Meat, fish, eggs, black tea, coffee, alcohol, tobacco, drugs and nudity are prohibited during the course as they are counterproductive to the yoga practice. Participants who do not comply with the school rules may be dismissed from the course.

Principles and Guidelines:

  • Vinyasa Yoga Academy is a Traditional Vinyasa Yoga School.
  • The teaching starts from early in the morning. The time schedule of the practices change according to the seasons.
  • Respectful behavior is mandatory at all times on and off the premises.
  • To respect the rules and regulations Vinyasa Yoga Academy will not refund the fee of students after joining the course.
  • Vinyasa Yoga Academy must be informed in advance if the student is not going to come for a meal.
  • Before departure from Vinyasa Yoga Academy, students must return all the books from the library.
  • Non-veg. food, smoking, and drinking alcohol are not allowed on the Vinyasa Yoga Academy premises.

General Rules

  • On the premises, modest dressing is mandatory.
  • Silence should be maintained after 8 pm.
  • Regular homework should be completed.
  • All classes are mandatory to attend.
  • Bring one pair of white clothes for welcome Ceremony
  • As a part of the evaluation procedure there will be a final exam both theory and practical.
  • Vinyasa Yoga Academy reserves the right to disqualify any students at any time during TTC for misconduct or breaking the rules.
  • Pets are not allowed to be kept in rooms.

Included excursions

In this teacher training course, you will have the opportunity to enjoy Himalayas sightseeing trip and nature excursions. On Sunday, you will also visit most ancient meditation cave called Vashistha Cave, a sunrise trip with 360 snow cap mountain view, local sightseeing and world-famous Ganga arati.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL), where you can take a domestic flight into Jolly Grant Airport (DED). Vinyasa Yoga Academy can pick you up from the airport on request.

Arrival by bus

Depending on the time your plane arrives in Delhi, taking a bus can be a tricky option. The Volvo buses from Delhi to Rishikesh stop running around 9:00 p.m. If your plane arrives in Delhi in the evening, you will have to get a hotel for the night and then make your way to Delhi ISBT (inter-state bus terminus) in the morning.

From the airport, get a prepaid taxi to take you to Delhi ISBT. You are strongly advised to only go to the government-approved taxi stand located right outside the airport exit. The price from the Delhi airport to Delhi ISBT will be 500 INR.

Once you arrive at Delhi ISBT, navigate your way to the bus station’s ticket stands on the second level (go up the escalator). Go to the Uttarakhand State booth and ask when the next Volvo bus will be leaving for Rishikesh. The bus ticket approximately costs between 300 to 400 INR.

Make sure to ask the bus driver or the bus director where they drop off at Rishikesh. You should get off the bus at Rishikesh bus station, which is usually their last stop if their destination is Rishikesh.

Once you arrive at Rishikesh bus station, find an auto rickshaw (tuk tuk) to take you to Laxman Jhula Bridge. An auto rickshaw will cost around 300 INR from the bus station to Laxman Jhula Bridge. They will drop you near or around a path that has a sign leading you to Laxman Jhula. Once you get to Laxman Jhula Bridge, cross it and make a right at Mango Tree Guesthouse. You’ll pass many shops, cafes, and stores on your way to the school. Follow the path all the way down for about one kilometer until you see the path curve left up a slight hill. Continue up that curve and Vinyasa Yoga Academy will be on your left-hand side.
