" Complete relaxation through Yoga, food and nature"

This trip was more than what I ever expected. Beginning from Yoga to the food to the Villa.

Miriam and Saffron are amazing yoga and meditation instructors, my daughter and I will include much of what we have learned into our daily practice. The yoga space allowed the most beautiful view and sounds.

The food was prepared with the best ingredients, every meal was delicious and prepared with so much love, a feast for the eyes and for the mouth.

We instantly connected with the other visitors, I think Villa Laguna attracts similar people and it was such a joy to spend time with everyone.

The yoga instructors, the cacao ceremony, the massage, the views, the sound and the beautiful laguna, the hammocks,

all amazing and I will live on these memories and treats for a long time.

We had such an amazing time.

Miriam made everything so easy, the pick up from Managua, changing plans upon request with pick up, she is always available and always so helpful. The animals at the Villa are an extra treat, the social ones visit at times and bring a fun and loving energy, and it is so nice to see them around the property.

The staff is so friendly and kind, I love that they are from the community in the area, some are related and it makes the atmosphere very warm.

This was a wonderful experience, we could not be happier with our memories.

    "An oasis of peace "

I stayed at villa laguna for 5 days, taking part in the ‘DesignYourBliss’ Yoga Retreat. From the moment I walked in, Miriam and the team made me feel so at ease and at home. Travelling solo can sometimes feel daunting, but the retreat has an intimate feel to it that allows you to get to know other guests, sharing stories around the breakfast and dinner table. The yoga was lovely, and really encouraged me to reflect and meditate more within my practice. I also took part in a coca ceremony and somatic massage which really encouraged me to leave worry behind and focus on the present moment. The plant-based food was SO GOOD. I’ve never eaten better veggie food, it was delicious and made my body feel so nourished. Last but not least the laguna is so so beautiful. You are truly surrounded by the jungle and wake up to bird calls and the sounds of gentle waves.

Thank you to Miriam and your team for going above and beyond. I loved every second.

    "I couldn’t have asked for a better experience "

From the moment I reached out, Miriam was a great communicator and so helpful. I had never imagined booking a trip to Nicaragua but the retreat center kept calling me. Miriam put my mind at ease regarding safety and she was absolutely right. I felt safe the whole time. She was also flexible when I wanted to arrive the day before. I loved that the driver greeted me at the airport with a clear sign and when I arrived, Miriam was immediately at the car and I felt so welcomed. As soon as I stepped on property, I felt so relaxed. The retreat center is absolutely magical. The views are incredible and oh my goodness, during yoga, you can feel the breeze off the Laguna while listening to the waves gently lap against the shore. Saffron led many of our yoga practices and is so knowledgeable and relaxing. What an incredible spirit and I felt so lucky to learn from her and get to know her better.

On top of that, the food is simply incredible. Every meal was such a treat. And the staff … Miriam has put together such a special team. I felt truly spoiled the entire time. Everyone went above and beyond to make my stay incredible.

I loved waking up before the sun and listening to the animals awakening all around … the sounds are truly incredible.

The rescue pets on property also make this such a unique and special experience. By the end, I felt like I was home and I can’t wait to return.

    "A magical retreat"

Everything about my stay was amazing! Miriam was the most welcoming host along with the rest of the team. She puts so much love into creating the best experience for all the guests and the location is stunning. I felt safe the whole time - we even did a sunrise hike before morning yoga. It was the perfect set up to build bonds that will last beyond the retreat - so special! Miriam was so adaptable to requests and made sure the week was exactly what the group needed from their stay. Would highly recommend.

    "A Dream in Nicaragua"

What can I say, my experience at Villa Laguna far exceeded my expectations in food, accommodations, and yoga. At arrival, Miriam, whom I messaged back and forth beforehand answering questions so promptly, greeted us at arrival. Her warm and inviting energy was immediate and me and my friends felt so welcomed. Her staff matched this amazing energy during our stay. She had a snack and beverages for us at arrival and reviewed options for our stay. I have a nut allergy which I told her beforehand so our meals were catered to this. The food was unbelievable! If you are not a vegan you will not be disappointed. My friends and I weren’t and we kept saying if someone cooked like this for us everyday we could convert. The flavors, presentation, and creativity was better than most James Beard Award winners I’ve been to in the US. And I’ve been to a lot!

Accommodations were perfect for the setting. It reminded me of Bali. We went during dry season and there were not much bugs. She gave us fans for the rooms and we slept with our doors open so the breeze could come in.

Yoga was twice a day for us and we all were different levels. Each yoga session felt purposeful and genuine for us and we really enjoyed it. I mean, the view can’t be beat looking out into the laguna while doing yoga.

I’m so grateful we were able to experience this and I’m so thankful Miriam was born so we can benefit from her bright light and perfect destination she has created for the world in Nicaragua.

"An exceptional place of tranquility and enjoy."

An amazing team of people. The food was exceptional and I mean exceptional especially for a meat eater trying a full vegan diet for the first time. The yoga twice a day was perfect. A full workout of mind body and soul. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Just perfect to have time to yourself and meet likeminded people. Very safe for women as solo travellers.

Miriam goes far and beyond to ensure your needs are met. Nothing is too big or inconvenient for her to help you The staff are amazing, part of the family

    "Fantastic and Zen"

The grounds are breathtaking and tranquil. Direct access to the Laguna. Yoga platform overlooking the Laguna. Best Vegan food I’ve ever had - no joke. Our room was incredibly spacious with a huge balcony. Attention to detail everywhere on the property. Staff friendly and accommodating. Miriam facilitated great camaraderie among all participants. Talented yoga instructor (Emi). Any offsite excursions requested easily facilitated for us. Can’t say enough good things, and I can’t wait to return!

    "AMAZING (!!!) "

Super difficult to put this experience into words that can capture what I feel and want to convey - but I will try! For context: this was my 1st yoga retreat, 1st time in Nicaragua, and 1st time eating plant based!

The space was beautiful and refreshing. The sheer beauty of the accommodation is worth experiencing in itself.

Emilie was our yoga instructor. She is somehow able to keep things fun/light, while still creating space for you to be grounded & introspective. Her minor corrections to your movements really advance your practice.

Nicaragua in itself is just beautiful and Miriam had many recommendations for things to do outside of the retreat space (if you wished!). She made it easy to get around safely on days you wanted to explore.

THE FOOD! You have to see/eat the food to truly appreciate it. I will just say I felt like I was at a gourmet restaurant, every meal. So deliciously AMAZING.

As a woman traveling alone, I could not have felt more safe/cared for. Aside from physical safety, the love and energy you are surrounded by is infectious. You really can’t put a price on the feeling you have when you’re laughing/crying about life after dinner with friends!

Miriam has this magical way of making you feel like you are visiting/catching up with an old friend. She is the heart and soul of the retreat, and that is something I can’t capture well in a review. If you are even thinking about it, let go of that hesitation and book! You will not regret it :,)

    "Amazing experience - highly recommend!"

I had a wonderful time at Villa Laguna. The location is absolutely beautiful and serene, and I was so impressed by the care and attention that Miriam and her team put into every aspect of the experience. The food was fine dining quality - every dish was both delicious and beautifully presented. All aspects of my itinerary were taken care of - from the rides to/from the airport to trips during my stay, so I didn’t have to worry about booking them myself and had absolutely no concerns about safety the entire time. When I caught a cold, Miriam even lent me a eucalyptus diffuser for the night. I can’t think of another place I’ve stayed with such attentive and personalized hospitality. Highly, highly recommend!

    "Magical Experience"

My time at Villa Laguna was truly extraordinary, thanks to Miriam, an exceptional host who exceeded all expectations. From the initial inquiry to well beyond my departure, her swift responses and unmatched hospitality made my stay unforgettable. Miriam’s genuine passion for her work and commitment to making a positive impact on the world were evident throughout. She is someone I am forever grateful to have met and will be a part of my life journey forever!

The delightful and helpful staff added to the overall experience, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The yoga sessions and the wonderful individuals drawn to this experience all contributed to the beauty of the stay.

The property itself is a captivating haven, radiating a magical and healing ambiance that left a lasting impression. The culinary journey was a symphony of extraordinary flavors and nutrient-dense delights, each dish presented with creative flair, showcasing the freshness and deliciousness that define this culinary masterpiece.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Villa Laguna experience and encourage others to seize the opportunity to explore this enchanting retreat in Nicaragua. It’s a truly transformative experience worth embracing!

"Above & Beyond at Villa Laguna"

Hi fellow wellness seekers considering a retreat at Villa Laguna at Laguna de Apoyo in Nicaragua - get ready for a yoga experience welcoming to all levels, delicious vegan food (myself never having eaten vegan), furry friends, and a serene setting with the option for arranged off-site adventures, if you choose!

From the moment I stepped foot at the retreat center, I was greeted with open arms and big smiles. Miriam, the owner and host ensured a warm welcome even before arriving by arranging transportation from the airport to the property. For me, this was especially appreciated as a solo woman traveling for the first time to Nicaragua. The retreat center itself is a little slice of paradise. Directly on the lagoon formed by an imploded volcano, it was a wonderful place to both swim and enjoy views over the water with the moon rising while practicing yoga. I didn't even leave to go to the beach - you will want for nothing right here! The accommodations were cozy and comfortable, providing the perfect atmosphere after a day of yoga or day trips. It was a safe haven where I could let my guard down, share my journey, and connect with fellow yogis. This was my first yoga retreat and it went above and beyond anything I could have imagined. I am grateful for the attention to detail, the genuine kindness from Miriam and her team, and the commitment to creating a holistic experience. I left feeling light and happy, with a renewed sense of self and with new friends.

I absolutely loved my experience here. It was idyllic in every way!

Apoyo Lodge is a stunning oasis in Nicaragua. The water is perfect, the grounds encourage relaxation and the yoga location is so beautiful! The food is delicious and nourishing, and so creative for vegan fare! The staff are super helpful and will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Highly recommended, I would love to come back again soon!

Perfect way to detox for 2020. My body feels great from the 100% tea, water and non-usa/fresh/plant based, no-alcohol [that one was sneaky since I didn't know they didn't serve it, but I'm happy they don't] diet and just the chance to feel like I didn't have to be somewhere for once. Me anger and ADHD just softened and I'm focused again on, "how do we dance as the world keeps turning." Treat yourself to a nicaragu yoga retreat, I'm sure sold on them now.

This yoga studio rests next to jungle mountains and the beautiful lake apoyo and I very highly recommend it! My sessions both in class and solo were a dream - under a moon lit sky, wind coming directly from the lake, te morning classes felt bathed in the surroundings of flowers, plants and the sun coming off the mountains. Keep in mind, there are occasional insects and morning sounds of howler monkeys in the distance, but if your wanting to connect to the raw elements of nature, esta bien.

This retreat offers excursions for a charge, but my entire stay I didn't even leave the lodge besides into apoyo lake. The toughest part of my stay was deciding which hammock to cuddle up in to read my book or take a kitty nap. I really felt the zen and solitude I needed here, but come meal time friendly people from all around the world would come together for delicious, vegan meals and cheerful talk. My welcome and stay was so safe! The staff is super sweet, the yoga instructor/lmt is awesome and the hosts are very relaxed and wonderful.

"Perfect retreat place to unwind and reconnect"

Apoyo Lodge is one of a kind with its location by the lagoon and inside a volcano crater, there aren’t many places like that that we know of and to top that with their wonderful staff that takes care of us at all times, making us feel like family, and feeding us delicious vegan food, makes this quite a special place indeed. Definitely recommend, if you are looking for a wholesome and relaxed experience, away from crowds and party people, this is your haven :)

    "Exceeded my expectations!"

The personal touch from booking through the ride back to the airport was incredible! The facility is beautiful and clean, classes were good, food was to die for and although remote the folks made arrangements to get us out to see other nearby areas everyday if we wanted. Can’t say enough!

    "Paradise!"

The location is absolutely stunning. The yoga shala and our room overlooked the lake, which is so beautiful, peaceful and calm. We felt truly cut off from the outside world. The lake is clean and warm, so is heavenly to swim in. Andrea was our yoga teacher. She was very nice and her teaching style is gentle. She has the most soothing voice! An early morning class watching the sunrise over the lake is the perfect start to the day. The shala is lit up with fairy lights and candles at night, so is a really nice place for a sunset / evening session. Miriam and Manuel are lovely hosts - so friendly and kind. I had a deep tissue massage with Manuel, which was excellent. The food is healthy, fresh, varied, beautifully presented and delicious. Our room was really spacious and comfortable with a huge balcony overlooking the lake. There are comfortable hammocks hanging everywhere and nice music, so it really is the perfect place to unwind! The staff are really lovely and everything is kept clean. The WiFi is very good here too so you don’t feel completely isolated from the outside world! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I didn’t want to leave!

Apoyo Lodge is SO dreamy! From the lovely location on the water, to the delicious (photo-worthy) food, the AM and PM yoga, Shanti the pup, the people that visit from all over and of course the wonderful team that lovingly run it! I celebrated a birthday here and they worked with my mom in a different country to help her surprise me with sweet treats and song. They seriously go above and beyond. I will most certainly be back ❤️❤️❤️✨

Beautiful space, helpful staff and excellent food. I’m not a vegan myself but it was great to detox for the week and the food was surprisingly tasty, especially all the teas and juices they put out. I also loved the view of the lagoon. Swimming out or taking one of the paddle boards they have out and enjoying the peace and quiet on the water was great. Miriam and Maribel are both total angels.

    "Amazing retreat"

Our stay at Apoyo Lodge was beautiful and relaxing. The lodge is on the shore of Laguna de Apoyo, a volcanic crater about an hour south of Managua. The lodge provided a car and driver coming and going, and even picked us up at our AirBnB in Managua instead of the airport. The last few miles of the road leading to the resort were unpaved and a bit uneven, but the drivers were pros. The lagoon itself was amazing - clear blue, warm, and great for swimming every day. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The breeze and fans kept us cool even without A/C. The yoga studio overlooks the lagoon and is an amazing setting for classes. Miriam has a unique and thoughtful teaching style that blends a small amount of mantras with yoga philosophy, theory, deep stretching, and helpful adjustments. The food was delicious and healthy, and each meal included a dessert! The lodge also coordinated daily excursions to local tourist sites like Masaya and Mombacho volcanos, a boat tour of Las Isletas in Lake Nicaragua, and hikes around Laguna de Apoyo. The on-site rescue cats and canine mascot were lots of fun too. The trip was a great value on top of everything else. Highly recommend a stay at Apoyo Lodge!

Miriam is an absolute angel and Apoyo Lodge is a slice of heaven. I looked forward to the yoga classes every morning at the beautiful yoga shala in front of the lagoon. She led a beautiful class everyday with the surrounding sound of nature. And the food is incredible!! Fresh and thoughtfully prepared plant based meals that I’m already missing. Everyone there also made me feel at home. Plus I met some great new friends that I got to explore Nicaragua with when we’re not relaxing at the lodge. Thank you Miriam and everyone at Apoyo! This was the best Yogaretreat ever. The food is super delicious and for me the portions where more than big enough. The place is quiet and peaceful. I liked the garden and all the places to chill out there. The lake is refreshing and its chill to use the provided tubes to hang out. The morning Yogaclass is just perfect with the beautiful view. I loved the quietness in this place and to have time for myself. The rooms are lovely decorated and I enjoyed the hot shower. There is a strong wifi, free bananas, water and tea the whole time. The teachers where very nice and professional. They take care of you all day. I recommend to enjoy a massage there, its super relaxing.

Apoyo Lodge was absolutely amazing! I was supposed to stay for 3 nights, but I loved it so much I ended up staying for 8 nights. Shayah and Dan were amazing hosts, and Shayah has such a calm and comfortable yoga-voice. That, together with the view, the sound of the waves, monkeys and birds, made the yoga a highlight of the day. The food was out-of-this-world-good and I made the best of friends and had such a great time. We went on hikes, excursions and had bonfires looking at the stars. Can not recommend this place enough! And also, Nicaragua was perfectly safe to travel to! Its just a beautiful country missing its tourists.

"Unforgettable - Left rejuvenated, refreshed and inspired!"

Everything at Apoyo Lodge from the welcome and hospitality to the food and yoga are absolutely perfect and are truly unforgettable.

The place - On the shore of a 20,000 year old volcanic crater now lagoon and natural reserve - it's beautiful, serene, peaceful. We watched the sunrise every morning and it was impossible not to feel a connection to this earth. You can spend the day reading, swimming, eating or exploring the surroundings and towns.

The food - I am not a vegan but the plant-based meals were ridiculously delicious, made with fresh ingredients right in front of you in the open kitchen. I did not stop eating, every breakfast, snack, lunch, dessert, dinner was so amazing! You eat breakfast and dinner in a family setting so you get to meet the other guests - one of my favorite times of the day!

Yoga - Starting the day with sunrise yoga led by Shayah on the deck overlooking the lagoon was so unbelievably peaceful and grounding. She radiates such a positive energy, she will be missed!

The staff - everyone that you interacted with is so welcoming! Miriam and Manuel, the owners are always around if you need anything; arrangements or special requests - they will make it happen. The massages by Manuel are very relaxing with the sound of the waves, birds and breeze in the background, a must!!

In the short five days I was there, I only felt positive energy, gratefulness and so thankful to have had the opportunity to experience this community. I will be back!

The location is very scenic and perfectly situated along the lagoon. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. It's the perfect place to come and be at peace with yourself and one with nature. There's something almost magical about how relaxing it was.

The staff were excellent and very accommodating. Miriam was so lovely and tries so hard to make sure everyone has an excellent stay at Apoyo and during any excursions around Nicaragua.

The food was also amazing and healthy. I'm not vegan but enjoyed everything that was served.

Daily/morning yoga was a great way to start the day and Shayah was a wonderful instructor.

    "Beyond expectations"

I can not recommend enough! It’s a true tropical paradise - everything is so well run and the grounds are beautiful. I was looking for a relaxing getaway for a few days and this completely exceeded expectations. Every morning we woke up and did yoga in the most incredible setting overlooking the lagoon, spent the day getting a massage, swimming in the lagoon, or choosing from one of the many excursions. And the best part, the food! Every single meal was completely different and full of delicious, healthy plant based food. Perfect for solo travelers, friends or couples. Definitely do not need to be an experienced yogi; Miriam is great at leading the practice for all levels. I can’t wait to return in the future! Thank you to Miriam and the whole staff for being so welcoming and your warm hospitality.

Amazing first solo trip! Everything from the food to the buildings to the yoga classes and massage are done with such care you can feel the love coming out in so many aspects. I was a little nervous to come here with the travel advisories but I didn't feel at any time in danger, Miriam and her staff made me feel confident in my travels. The lagoon is absolute paradise, and the people on the retreat were all very positive and kind. Had a great time!

The detox was challenging but just what I needed to turn my physical health challenges around. Thats to the amazing support I received, my new healthy habits have stayed with me and I am SO grateful for the genuine love and care that was given to each retreat participant. Besides, the price was incredibly affordable for the TLC we received.
