Are you looking for a healthier way of living and to calm your mind? Do you want to challenge yourself by trying something new? Then, starting your own meditation and yoga practice can be the right thing to do. Vikasa Beginner Yoga program has been developed for complete beginners and those who want to get back to yoga after having a long break. Our teachers will guide you through basic sequences of poses, giving variations so you can challenge yourself if you want to. The goal is to introduce you to yoga and to teach you how to get into a pose, sustain a pose, and get out of the pose in a safe way while having fun and feeling awesome. Beginner yoga programs are available for a variety of yoga styles.

The beginner yoga program starts with initial introductory consultation, where we talk about any limitations you might have, your expectations, and set personal goals for the program. Based on personal needs and unique circumstances, a program will be developed. Our programs use a unique mix of activities that make you experience the yogic lifestyle.

Schedule

The beginner yoga program starts with an initial introductory consultation on your first evening. Please check in before 17.00. Day one is check-in. Last day is check-out. Below is an example of a typical day during your beginner yoga program including 2 private sessions.

  • 07:00 - 07:45: Group meditation (optional)
  • 09:00 - 10:15: Private yoga class
  • 10:30 - 11:30: Healthy brunch
  • 11:30 - 13:00: Free time: enjoy and relax by the pool or explore Koh Samui
  • 14:00 - 16:00: Free time or additional coaching or acupuncture session
  • 16:00 - 17:15: Private yoga class
  • 18:00 - 19:15: Group yoga class (optional)
  • 19:30 - 20:30: Healthy dinner

Kosta’s journey into yoga has taken him to the far reaches of the world, from remote Himalayan ashrams, to his initiation by a master monk in a sacred Sak-Yant ceremony in Thailand. His passion has lead him to search out for his own personal development throughout the world. Kosta's years of worldly experience have led to deeper understanding of yoga as a personal journey and spiritual evolution.
Sergio
Sergio was born in former Soviet Union, grown up in Spain, has practiced and learned different yoga styles since 2003 with many different teachers including from India. After extensive corporate experience and own business spent two years learning yoga and Ayurveda in India where he met his Guru and lived with him seven months practicing all yogic branches and learned to manage his mind, lifestyle, and routine to bring well being in life.
Betti
Betti has studied and practiced yoga for more than 10 years in diverse styles and different settings in Europe and Asia. Believing that one of the essential parts of yoga is meditation, she is very well practiced in several meditation techniques that can be applied in all walks of life with lasting health benefits for body, mind, and soul.Yoga has been an essential tool in her personal journey, and one that she is passionate about sharing with others.
Alicia Casillas
Yoga Alliance RYT 500 (Yoga)
Through yoga Alicia discovered how to truly connect with, and balance her mind, body, and soul. Yoga is now allowing her to share the message of a healthy and happy way of life with everyone who wants to share her interest! Alicia has a strong meditation practice combining Vipassana Buddhist meditation and chakra balancing techniques. She guides her students to manage stress, develop self-awareness and takes them along the pathway to discovering who they truly are.

Food

Vikasa serves wholesome health-conscious meals in buffet style from 09:30 -11:30 and 18:30 - 20:30. Both meals are complimentary for every yoga vacation guest. Kickstart your day to an amazing brunch. A freshly squeezed juice, tea and coffee, a sunny side up or vegetable omelette, wholegrain toasts, oatmeal or muesli with yogurt, or chia seeds pudding, superfoods, veggies with speciality in-house organic dips, vegetarian sandwiches or pancakes, and of course a variety of fresh-cut tropical fruits. Dinner includes a hot soup, typical local dishes with tofu, brown rice, two or three vegetarian dishes, fresh salad, dahl, and always one seafood dish. For dessert, Vikasa serves fruits, occasional delectable mango sticky rice or other uniquely Thai savouring. Their homemade signature tea is a perfect finish to your meal.

Things to do (optional)

Bophut fisherman village

The traditional heart of Bophut is a charming fisherman village on the east side of the beach. Enjoy walking the street bazaar every Friday for local shopping. If you want to try the local seafood, your fresh catch is prepared before your eyes.

Chaweng

Chaweng is the largest and most popular of Samuis beaches. This is the longest beach on Samui and also the busiest tourist area with lots of shopping, dining, and nightlife.

Lamai

Lamai is another nearby area situated along the second biggest beach after Chaweng. It also has a shopping street with many shops and restaurants.

Massage and detox

Thai massage is wonderfully therapeutic and relaxing. Massage services can range from gentle and relaxing to highly effective deep tissue massage. Your therapist can help with specific problem areas and help to relieve stress related blockages.

Muay Thai lessons

Just across the road from Vikasa, there is a traditional Muay Thai boxing school. Private or group Muay Thai lessons can be easily arranged. For those willing to try a new experience in the martial arts, Muay Thai provides an exciting contrast to yoga practice.

Optional tours

Tour the local waterfalls, see a secret Buddha garden, visit the National Marine Park, explore the temples of Koh Samui, or meet local Buddhist monks. Many other exciting touring options are available by special request.

Sunrise or sunset

You can take your group to a nice beach at sunrise or sunset for an unforgettable meditation and pranayama session.

Spa treatments

The Vikasa Spa offers a range of luxurious services that will leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. We specialize in authentic Thai massage as well as Swedish and Indian massage styles. We use excellent quality organic and locally manufactured products for our scrubs, facials, and skin treatments. Our spa is open air and constructed on a natural ocean cliff side.

For a unique experience, enjoy one of our special treatments such as Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage or a detoxifying Herbal Thai Compress treatment. Our signature Thai yoga massage emphasizes the assisted stretching that is a smaller part of most Thai massages and enhances your yoga training by increasing flexibility. Yoga and massage go together like breathing and air. Feel the soft sea spray and hear the waves crashing on the rocks as you enjoy being pampered by one of our expert therapists.
