For the residential training, Vikasa offers several types of accommodation, ranging from their popular private Yoga Caves to full-sized hotel-style rooms. They are not a one-size-fits-all kind of place. They believe this range of accommodations allows for a wider range of students to attend the course. Rooms celebrate simplicity and come with everything you need for a comfortable stay. All rooms are private, mini-fridges in each room offer kombucha and healthy snacks, and each room has unique Mandala artwork.

They are a relaxed establishment where you can unplug and reconnect to something deeper in a meaningful way. As you will notice, some of the room options have a "plus,” which means they are a little bit bigger or nicer or have better views than the standard category. A few tips for choosing your perfect room. If you like to stay close to the beach with lots of privacy, check out the Prana Cabanas. If you do not want to walk down too many stairs, the Yoga Caves could be a good option for you. If you need a bit of extra space and a central location by the pool and spa, the Lotus Pads are a great choice for you.

Pre-application requirements

Anyone is welcome to join this 100-hour yoga intensive training. It is ideally designed for people who want to experience a yoga immersion with guided support from a professional and expert in yoga asana. It is also designed for yoga teachers to come and gain insights and wisdom in a supportive and inspiring environment to add to their teaching repertoire.

Certifications

The course/hours count as Continuing Education hours for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®) only.

You will receive a certificate of completion of 100 hours of training from the Vikasa Yoga Academy. This course alone does not qualify you to teach yoga, so you need to have also completed a 200-hour foundation yoga teacher training course to qualify as a certified yoga teacher. This is a great addition for yoga teachers or a great intensive for personal development for all yoga practitioners.

How the training works

This course is a 100-hour immersion, suitable for teachers or anyone who practices regularly. 70 hours will be done onsite at Vikasa, with the remaining 30 hours being accessible online. The online portion can be done before or after the in-person starts. There are no live sessions, and you can complete 30 hours of online training for at least seven days.

In addition to world-class training on-site, you will receive a one-year membership and bonus lifetime access to Rama’s flagship flexibility and handstand bundles (Rama’s Handstand Bundle, Flexibility Bundle, Supportive Courses including myofascial release, knee health, and spinal waves) available inside his online platform, The Becoming Balance Studio, with new classes and content updated regularly. The additional hours can be done in your own time and are self-paced.

Daily schedule for in-person training

The daily schedule is a balanced mix of immersive practice, interesting theory, and hands-on workshops. The daily life at Vikasa starts with the sound of tropical birds as the sun rises over their east-facing hillside home. You do mornings right here with meditation and asana practice before a robust brunch in a community setting. Throughout the day, you will have a mix of structured activities as well as downtime and freedom to explore.

In-person training

This part of the training will take place in paradise at Vikasa Yoga Retreat, a paradise on the tropical island of Koh Samui, in the Gulf of Thailand. This location is easily accessible with direct flights from all major hubs in Southeast Asia, such as Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. Once you have arrived, the team will pick you up at Samui Airport (USM). Vikasa was specially selected as a place for transformation due to its ideal balance of secluded island paradise, healthy, freshly prepared food, and four world-class yoga salas constructed in a beautiful setting and designed to get results.

Each week, you will also be able to fully explore the stunning, green, natural surroundings of Koh Samui, with its abundance of waterfalls, white-sand beaches, and dense jungle, on your day off. Vikasa is located in the southeast of the island, close to Lamai, and approximately 20 minutes by taxi from Koh Samui International Airport (USM).

Koh Samui

Koh Samui is a beautiful tropical island located in the Gulf of Thailand. It is approximately 90 minutes from the mainland via ferry but is easily accessible via airplane. It has key infrastructure such as a small international airport, good medical facilities (including hospitals), banking facilities (including ATMs), good Wi-Fi coverage, and good roads. It is possible to drive around the entire island in around 90 minutes, and visitors generally either travel via scooter or taxi as walking is difficult.

Vikasa is located between Chaweng Noi and Lamai in a quiet area of the island. It is possible to walk from Vikasa to nearby beaches, but guests generally stay on the Vikasa premises or rent scooters or taxis for trips to nearby markets and shopping malls. The weather is generally hot year-round, with temperatures often around 30 degrees Celsius. This breathtaking island provides a perfect environment for practicing yoga due to its remote setting, natural surroundings, beautiful beaches, and untouched seas.

During the residential training, you will be served a daily healthy, delicious buffet brunch and dinner designed to fuel you at Life Café, included in the price. They have formulated a signature cuisine, combining healthy ingredients with pure indulgence for you to savor.

They serve a wide variety of food styles to suit different dietary needs. They offer vegan-friendly, international, fusion, western, raw, and non-vegetarian dishes. The Life Cafe is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for any additional snacks, smoothies, healthy treats, or ice-cold coconuts.
