What is yoga? Yoga means union of the mind, body, and spirit with the divine and while this refers to a certain state of consciousness for both the individual and the universe, it is also a method to help one reach that goal.

During this retreat, you will learn the traditional, exact, and easy system that aims at naturally achieving the goal through creating a healthy body and mind that leads to spiritual evolvement.

Based on the teachings of Swami Sivananda, Swami Vishnudevananda summarized the yoga philosophy in five principles or the five points of yoga which make the complex teachings of yoga easier to understand.

Five points of yoga

Positive thinking (vedanta) and meditation (dhyana)

These are the true keys to achieving peace of mind and eliminating negativity in your life.

Proper breathing (pranayama)

Deep and conscious breathing reduces stress and many diseases.

Proper diet

Eating simple, healthy, and vegetarian foods that are easy to digest notably have a positive effect on the mind and body, the environment, and other living beings.

Proper exercise (asanas)

Yoga poses help develop a strong and healthy body by enhancing flexibility and improving circulation.

Proper relaxation

Helps keep the body from going into overload mode, easing worries, and fatigue.

"I had an absolutely lovely stay at this Ashram. Bhakta, his wonderful wife Ramita, brother Sroj, and the rest of the family together with the inspiring yoga teacher Olga, made the nine days I spent here an unforgettable memory. I was pleased with the yoga, asanas, and pranayama classes, which for a beginner were on a good level. The food was great, healthy, and tasty, and the walks in the afternoons in the beautiful surroundings were a highlight of the day. "

"During my stay I was also doing the detox program, which left me a few kilos lighter and my tummy so much happier and balanced. Even after I have returned home and slightly returned to a less "pure", westernized diet. Even though still vegetarian, I still feel the benefits of the detox."

"I would highly recommend this place to everyone who would like to discover their inner peace through the art of yoga, enjoy the beautiful Nepalese nature, and adapt a healthier de-stressed life style. Thank you everyone!"

"It's the same place where I'd recovered my physical, mental and emotional health. I was mesmerized by the natural beauty of the creations made there. The staff of the Ashram were very friendly, helpful, attentive and action-oriented. I felt that I was grown there in A multi-therapeutic environment and I had been exposed to a wide variety of influences of living life very positively to the fullest. I was strengthened by their presence and my health suddenly began to recuperate. As the time went by, my mental health became very sound. In fact, they were very caring and loving towards me. Day by day, I went on feeling that I was under the care of my family. Thank you Vedic Ashram and family for giving me a very New Life!"

Above all, the people are what I will miss the most. Each staff and teacher was like a family member to me. They were caring, attentive, and insightful. They provided deep knowledge and instructions for all activities. My detox yoga was a complete therapeutic package of physical, mental and spiritual care and was truly an eye-opening experience for me. "I stayed at the Vedic Arogya Ashram for a week and loved my time there. The team was very friendly and made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The staff are very knowledgeable and yet humble at the same time. I did some yoga classes which helped me realized that my body was stronger and more flexible than I had thought after a back injury. I miss the wonderful people at the Ashram and will go back when I am next in Nepal. "

"I really had a special experience at the peaceful and beautiful Vedic Arogya Ashram. The people treat you like your own family, I always felt welcome and at home. I think the program is really unique and effective, I have seen peoples' lives change from staying there. The ashram is both spiritual and health focused, offering medicine, treatments, massage, Reiki and yoga and meditation. By staying for a while, they can help you make the changes in your life, which you really want, for the mind, body and spirit. I stayed in the very beginning, now these days there are more facilities and very interesting programs running. It is well away from the busy Thamel tourist scene, in the fresh mountain air and water. I recommend all people to come and stay or visit. Thank you everyone at the Ashram for your kindness and help, I love you all!"
