Spend your whole week by relaxing on this yoga retreat in Apulia, Italy! In collaboration with Montepaolo, Vedaguru Centre offers you the possibility to take yoga lessons, take part at the cultural and natural tour, enjoy the pampering treatments, and learn the benefit of Ayurveda in a marvelous place surrounded by nature. This yoga retreat is perfect for you who want to boost your wellness through the detox program while relaxing your body, mind, and soul through daily yoga practices.
You will be staying at Masseria Montepaolo Dimora di Charme during the retreat. There are ten rooms in Masseria Montepaolo Dimora di Charme’s main building, located on either the second or third floor, reached by stairs. The rooms are comprised of a variety of layouts, sleeping either two, three, or four guests. Each room is named after a sign of the zodiac.
All rooms are very comfortable, providing tranquility and repose in a refined and welcoming environment. Montepaolo also has two Junior Suites which are one-bedroom lofts with a kitchen as well as two two-bedroom apartments in the 14th-century tower called La Torre del Brigante.
The second floor has three spacious light-filled rooms, each with a balcony. These were the family bedrooms when the house was a private residence of the current owner and they still have the floors and antiques dating back to the 19th century. The amenities for these rooms are Wi-Fi, heating, TV, telephone, mini-fridge, ceiling fan, security box, and hairdryer.
The other seven rooms are located in the charming renovated attic on the third floor, each with windows overlooking the surrounding countryside or landscaped grounds and decorated in the Provencal style. The amenities for these rooms are Wi-Fi, heating or air conditioner, TV, telephone, mini-fridge, ceiling fan, security box, and hair dryer.
On this retreat, you will enjoy daily yoga lessons which include asana and pranayama based on Ayurveda and the three doshas. For five days of the retreat, you will also enjoy three daily treatments. The treatments could be bolus bag or abhiangam / sauna / nutritional clister. During the five days of treatments, you are not doing the nutritive enema and evacuating enema at the end as you do during the panchakarma. In the free time, you can spend your time resting, walking in nature, reading light material, and practicing gentle yoga and meditation.
After a trip to India in 2008, attracted by Ayurvedic medicine, by the powers of nature, and her passion for anthropology, Carola has known indigenous and ancient cultures present in Kerala. She has worked for years in Greece, learning the culture and the mysteries of the Cyclades. She has lived in Italy, in the Alps, where she rediscovered the ancient traditions and cults. She has studied Ayurveda, pranic healing, yoga, and meditation in India.
A masseuse and therapist since 2000, Mariangela is always open and looking for an improvement in the studies. She uses multiple techniques in her work, like hot stone therapy massage, watsu, Ayurvedic massage, deep tissue, slimming, anti-stress, and energetic. She is the president of Vedaguru Association.
Fabio is a specialist in neurology, with refinement in Ayurvedic medicine and psychosomatic, having been trained in India, as a student of Doctor Raju. After years of general practice, he decides to resign and devote himself to Ayurvedic medicine. He followed a three-year course to become an Ayurvedic therapist and received his diploma in Ayurvedic medicine from Maharishi Vedic University. For more than 20 years, he has been dealing with Ayurveda, combining the study of the basic principles with an interest for massage, nutrition, yoga, meditation, philosophy, and psychology.
This retreat will take place in Conversano, Italy. The accommodation you'll be staying at, Masseria Montepaolo Dimora di Charme, is located in a protected natural area where lakes used to be which leaves interesting flora and fauna in the south of Bari.
You will be served daily local and healthy breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The meals will be served based on the concept of kilometer 0. The meals are prepared using primarily Montepaolo produce, olive oil, fruit, vegetables, and spices as per the Mediterranean diet and seasonal availability. Only local traditional Puglia recipes are used, customized by the owners own creativity.
For breakfast, you can enjoy homemade jam, cookies, pies, fresh fruit from the grounds and harvested the same morning, traditional Italian coffee, cappuccino, tea, organic barley, yogurt, fresh fruit and veg juice, toast, organic cereal, and croissants. A sample of lunch and dinner menu dishes are the traditional black wheat focaccia, fried bites, broccoli rape pasta, black wheat pasta with dry ricotta cheese, bean and chicory cream (fave e cicorie), legumes soups, parmigiana, vegetable quiche, and baked pasta. There are also fresh dairy specialties such as mozzarella, ricotta, and caciocavallo cheese made locally each day by a Conversano creamery.
In the Ayurveda and yoga retreat, fried food will not be available (except if you want to try something typical like panzerotti). Vedaguru Centre can also offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free meals.
During the week, it is possible for you to visit the nearby Conversano and Polignano a Mare.
Please book your flight to arrive at Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport (BRI) or Brindisi Airport (BDS). Transfer from and to this airport is available upon request. Vedaguru Centre can arrange it for you at the cost of 40 EUR.
From the airport, you can also take a professional taxi to the venue for 65 EUR.
