"My son and I enjoyed the best resort experience of our lives at UTMT. This is the perfect place to be pampered, with a great massage, excellent infinity swimming pool, outstanding food, and a wonderful setting. We especially appreciated the thoughtful attention to the needs of guests, from tea and tropical food tastings, yoga and meditation sessions, and great cocktail happy hours. The managers are warm and attentive, and they made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended!"

"Beautiful boutique resort with a nice private beach and well-trained staff. Among my all-time favorite hotels!"

"With all respect however, I would like to add some suggestions for the newly arrived General Managers (a young & friendly Austrian couple), to build upon the reputation:"

"The couple can be seen swimming, lounging by the pool or sitting at dinner and have the staff serve them. Same for the lady who runs the spa. Even though such "guest-like" behavior sounds quite unusual for anyone with a hospitality background I didn't mind it per se."

"However, if tables are not cleared for more than an hour, if guests have to walk up all the way from the beach for every drink order because no one is around, or if all of the five sea view tables at the restaurant are taken & the GMs occupy one of them during dinner, then such behavior seems inappropriate in a premium resort."

"With a more professional management style, this hotel could be even more outstanding than it already is."

"We came for our honeymoon, beautiful place such an amazing staff, everything is just perfect We did a small wedding ceremony couldn't ask for a better place. Took a cooking class as you will love the Sri Lankan food so healthy and yummy. We didn't leave much the resort as its a peaceful place that you don't want to leave. The beach is so nice but not for swimming. Kim the Yoga teacher is one of the best teachers I ever trained with. Every detail of this resort is simply cute!"

"We have just spent 10 days at UTMT and had an amazing stay. The Sri Lankan staff are helpful, courteous and nothing is too much trouble. From the free afternoon tea, to free postcards home to free telephone calls from their telephone box, there are some unique and really great touches within this hotel. The food is out of this world - healthy and not overly large portions but totally adequate and really first class. Being so small ensures that you feel special. There are many guests who take advantage of the Ayurvedic Spa treatments, but you can have normal facials and beauty treatments as well. I must also make mention of the great drivers this hotel uses. We went on several trips including the three hour drive two and from the airport and the cars and drivers were excellent. Plus the hotel provides snacks, blankets and pillows for the journeys. The only real negative is in spite of the fact the hotel is on the coast and has its own private beach, the sea is really too rough to swim safely here, and so is not suitable for children and most adults. There is a blue beach within a 10 minute tuk tuk ride which we used a couple of times. This was much better but the undercurrent was still very strong. The rooms are unusual and we loved the outside shower. We had a room overlooking the sea which was wonderful but the sea being so rough was incredibly noisy. All in all a very quiet, relaxing hotel and talking to others guests one of the best if not THE best for a long way along that part of the coast."

"Great hotel, wounderful and very professional staff especially the new hotel manager. We were staying in the well equipped garden house with a nice suite with pool. Location, spa as well as offered activities are great. Very child friendly and a great pick for a relaxing holiday. Be aware that the hotel beach is not for the average swimmer due to the high waves but there is a great pool and a wounderful beach not far away (by tuk-tuk). Overall very recommendable!"

"What a brilliant place. We stayed at three luxury hotels on the south coast and Mango Tree Hotel was both the cheapest and the best. It really has a great design, attentive staff, beautiful private beach, good food, lovely gardens and pool, cocktails, yoga, tea tasting, free fruit, and free phone calls. The buildings are really well designed. We had room number one, which was very lovely with a view of palm trees and the beach from bed, nothing could have been better."
