    Kundalini Tantra yoga

It is a healing yoga technique with combination of Kundalini, Ashtanga, Hatha, and Sivananda yoga created by Mr. Ketut Arsana. The technique focuses more in breathing (pranayama) while moving which he believes is important to let the oxygen flow within the body in order to trigger the body glands work more effectively.

    • Ketut Arsana

Born in the village of Padang Tegal, Ubud, and grew up in a family of traditional Balinese shaman healers (Balian), Ketut Arsana inherited the traditional healing practices. He began his healing practice with his own family, and gradually extended it to neighbors and eventually anyone who heard about him. In addition, he continually improved his knowledge by way of learning from other healers, praying in temples and other sacred places, and through spiritual discipline. Most importantly, Ketut Arsana found his spiritual teacher, Maha Guru, and surrendered to God (Lord Siva).

Ubud is a district in Bali. Located amongst rice paddies and steep ravines in the central foothills of Gianyar regency, the town of Ubud is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bali. It is a walking distance to shops and restaurants.

      Not recommend

CONS Cons: I'm sorry that I have to be honest. I think this place , overcharged. In ubud there are so many good hotels and cheaper. I booked a Garden room but it was super tiny, no privacy and ant was on the bed. I was there for get to "retreat " not to "training " So I upgraded my room. That room was big but room has smell, bath tub has black stain, tolilet was old , no bottle of water in the room , not even tissues. I used tolilet paper instead. Tv signal was really bad. Also cleaning was not good as well They just changed towels not wipe bath tub or toilet or floor. Also air conditioner was not working well at first day. And I told them pls fix it and they tryed to put me a garden room again even though I paid extra. So I told them I will not gonna back to a garden room and then I they put me to suite room... food was ok but smoothie was always same flavor. Yoga class was terrible. I left early. I don't get this. This was supposed to be retreat plan but feel like this course is nothing like retreat course. Why people said so amazing? I really disappointed it and won't come back again

PROS Pros: Massage, free trainsafer to the airport

Organizer response: Dear Naomi Thank you for taking the time to write your review of our property, your comments are very much valued. We really appreciate your comments regarding our customer service also our facilities and ongoing upgrades to the property I would like to personally apologize for the series of unfortunate incidences that you experienced during your stay with us. We continually try to do our very best for all of our guests, but unfortunately, sometimes we do fail. As describe on our listing at BookyogaRetreats, our garden room are only 14sqm and it’s truly a small room size. And we apologize that our hotel didn’t provide our guest with a free bottle of water in the room as we only offer complimentary free flow gallon of water for our guest which you may fill your bottle anytime And I will look into each issue that you have noted, in an attempt to correct and improve our hotel policies and services. Our hope that you will give us the opportunity to serve you better in near future. Sincerely your Koming

      Bad start good finish

CONS Cons: The staff were so divine tho and once I was there they couldn't do enough for me. They shuttle me on the scooter if I need to go out. I cancelled the yoga after day two. I wanted to replace it with Vinyasa as it seemed to just be Priyana but there no 'other types of yoga' at body works? So they replaced it with massages. Super beautiful place - I would recommend staying in the suite for sure but not as a package - go to yoga barn next door as the girls I met doing this loved it. (Just be careful when you book - that the price your confirming is the one you are made to pay)

PROS Pros: I was upgraded to the suite which is a STUNNING room! However it was because I had booked the garden room, receipt emailed to me and then they emailed saying it was booked out and I had to pay an extra 240,000 for the suite. I didn't want a suite, I just wanted a basic room for the retreat. We went back and forth for hours as they wouldn't refund my deposit nor would they honour my booking (and I was supposed to be arriving that day!) I had nowhere to sleep that night if it wasn't rectified. Luckily I had a local friend to phone up and speak to them and I was upgraded. However I imagine normally under pressure the guest would just agree to paying the extra $250! This didn't sit well with me.

" Over all, My husband and I had pleasant 7 nights stay in Ubud Aura center.1. The staff are very happy and friendly. We have been very well taken care of in terms of the breakfast, massage, room cleaning, laundry and so on.2. Location is great. A lots of restaurants near by and shops as well.3. This center is nice, quiet and, trees all surrounded. Our room is in the second floor with a spacious balcony where we can read and rest in the coach.4. The yoga Barn is in the next door, and if you likes practice yoga everyday, this is highly recommended place to stay.5. I had 4 times of massage in Aura Center, the massages are great.6. One thing I need to address is the door frame of the room. The door is bigger than the decorated frame and the frame has a sharp and pointed edge, and my husband is tall so there were 2 times that his head got hit by that edge and he was bleeding twice in one day, really made him upset. I had to post a very obvious note on the door so that he paid attention when came in and out. If you are a moderate height person, it is fine, but if you are tall, really need to be careful with this door frame. We appreciate this nice elegant decoration, but with that sharp and pointed edge, it is not a safe detail. " website, edited

"I loved this place, beautifully located next to the yoga barn. I have been there twice and hope to go again. "

"The people who help run this gorgeous getaway and warm and kind. I saw how fast and professional the team was at helping a fellow customer bandaged up their hurt hand. "

"I was lucky to be there for their surprise New Year breakfast too. That breakfast was full of smiles, laughter and warmth and had traditional Balinese surprises for vegan eaters such as me. "

"The setting is beautiful with lots of trees flowers and nurture. On my arrival I saw huge snail, in a giant plant pot and felt a welcome relief from the big city life of smog. "

"The spa is really natural and being at Ubud Aura you can always meet friendly locals and learn a bit more about what it is like to be from Indonesia. "

"I can't wait to return and maybe take a moment to dip in the pool next time! Thank you Ubud Aura you make a great memory of Bali and I love your eco-friendly water idea :) I thought I posted a review after the New Year party, but it seems there was an error, however, I must say a big thank you for the kind hospitality x", edited

"My retreat at Ubud Aura was simply amazing! The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were always ready to help with any questions or concerns I had. The yoga classes I took were great, challenging, but in a good way. The massages and facials that came with my package were divine, it was a challenge not to fall asleep during each session. Finally, the actual resort itself was so pretty and calm. In addition to the pool, there are fountains everywhere, so the sound of running water is constantly around you and it's so calming." "I stayed with Ubud Aura Retreat Centre for 9 amazing nights! My trip started with a 3-hour delayed flight that got in at 3:30 a.m. and the airline lost my luggage. I dreaded leaving the airport because I thought for sure the person from the hotel that was suppose to pick me up would have left by now. I walk out and Made was waiting there with a sign with my name on it. The next morning I wake up to an amazing breakfast while Tina called to check on my luggage and make arrangements to get it back. She called everyday to check on it and gave me updates. The hotel arranges anything you want to do. They make sure you have a driver from the hotel so you get the best price and service. The massages and spa treatments that were included with my package were amazing. Every single staff member you encounter is helpful, friendly and genuinely nice. The location of the hotel is in the heart of Ubud but tucked away enough, so it is still peaceful and serene. With all of these services you would think it was an overpriced place to stay but the rates are very affordable. I plan to stay here again next year and I highly recommend it to anyone else visiting Ubud.", edited

"We stayed in a Twin Room at Ubud Aura Retreat Centre and had an amazing 3 night stay as part of our yoga package. The room was very clean and comfortable and the surroundings were quiet even though very well placed within walking distance to everything you need (supermarket, chemist, cafes/restaurants, spas). The staff here were amazing - very friendly with warm smiles. Tina on the front desk assisted us in organising a half day trip with an informative and fun driver. There were a number of delicious breakfast options which we had by the pool every morning. As part of our package we participated in two great yoga sessions and also received a facial and a salt scrub - both of which were divine and I would recommend."

"Overall Ubud Aura Retreat is a superb place to relax and take in all that Ubud has to offer. We couldn't find anything to fault except that the rooms should have had complimentary water each day."

"I had a wonderful week of yoga, meditation, reading, writing and drawing and of course sleeping, a lot of it. My room in the hotel Ubud Aura Retreat Centre was beautiful, the locals, working in the hotel were very helpful and lovely, always smiling people. It was a very special, relaxing time for me. The Yoga Barn, which was right next door, very convenient for having a beautiful, healthy and fresh meal, or drink, I only visited when on my way for a bite to eat, a massage or when having yoga. I only took 1 privat lesson. The „scene“ was a bit much for me. I did my yoga on the balcony of my room, my meditation time or deep relaxation, it was a perfect place to rest, without having all the busy, trendy and beautiful people, working hard on their laptop, I-pad or I-phone, around you. It’s a very peaceful and happy place. My rating yoga lesson 7, massage 8, food 9, my room (lotus) 10. Thank you for giving some time to chill out. With love and many thanks", edited

"I thought that Ubud Aura Retreat Centre was wonderful. I had booked 4 days in a deluxe room on their yoga package. The deluxe room was fantastic and really suited my needs. I loved the fact that Ubud Aura was right next to the Yoga Barn and this meant such convenient access to their classes. The staff were friendly and charming and really accommodated me by picking me up from a location other than the airport, which I thought was fantastic service. In terms of the retreat package, I chose not to attend the yoga classes included in the package I paid for as they were not at The Yoga Barn but at another studio about a 15-20 minute walk away and not as convenient. Although Ubud Aura does offer a moped shuttle, I preferred to just take classes at Yoga Barn, as I do not like mopeds. "

"If I was returning to Ubud for yoga, I would stay at the Ubud Aura again but perhaps not take up the yoga package as The Yoga Barn is right next door. Thanks to all the staff at the Ubud Aura for their welcome and wonderful service. " website, edited

"Ubud Aura is like a little paradise set right in the heart of Ubud. Has a 'Marigold Hotel' feel to it. The pool area is so peaceful with lots of shaded areas. I started and ended my day with a dip in it and having breakfast by it was lovely. The staff are lovely. So helpful, polite and appear to function like their own little family unit.I purchased the 8 day package, which included 3 luxurious massages, 2 with scented, flowered baths and a facial. The massage with the hot stones and heated oil was a standout for me and got rid of the knots in my neck that my regular massages in Australia were unable to do.I am in love with the space where the yoga was held. A beautiful loft room 2 flights up set in the middle of a compound that had fish ponds and and an array of peaceful sitting spaces. My friends and I would dit and chat, relax after class whilst drinking our tonic. Though the variation in classes isn't there I prefer it to the Yoga Barn.I have just returned to Ubud and though the Ubud Aura was fully booked. I went straight back there to book into a lymphatic massage. I'd just returned from a 3 day hike and I knew I could trust them with my swollen, blistered feet. I'm just deciding now what my next treatment will be." website, edited

"Ubud Aura Retreat Centre was a beautiful place to spend our time in Bali. The three day retreat was well worth it. The scrub and facial were very relaxing and my skin looked amazing. The kundalini yoga was ok, but I felt the teacher wasn't very warm and friendly. In terms of the accommodation, rooms were beautiful and food was great. Staff were very helpful and we even got motorbike rides to go to nearby restaurants to eat such as Atman cafe. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and I would reccomend it to anyone." website, edited

The breakfast was slow in the mornings but really delicious. I'm also a fan of yogi Bhajan kundalini but I was open to the class I did and the setting was stunning and far more beautiful than the yoga barn... The body works did not have many classes and there were no clears available with the master which I was disappointed. The treatments were lovely.I would definitely recommend the aura to everyone I know and I plan on returning next year " website, edited

The Yoga Barn was just a couple of minutes walk further down the lane-way, and the hotel provided scooter transport to the yoga we had included in our booking which was a 5 min ride away. Whilst there, we also enjoyed a salt bath massage (Awesome) as well as a facial and massage. A lovely breakfast was also included."

"Stayed 4 nights in 'the suite' - which is on the 3rd floor (need to be happy with stairs). This is a large room with ensuite bathroom (bath and shower). I wanted to attend classes at yoga barn - so Ubud Aura was a perfect location and very comfortable. The pool is lovely and adequate for the small number of guests. The massages were really good (better than yoga barn in my opinion). Breakfast is simple - but adequate. I loved the lime pancakes. Plenty of cafes close by for other meals - including the yoga barn cafe. It is not a 5-star resort and is priced accordingly. It is more suited to adults than children. Lots of solo travelers - happy to chat at breakfast."

"We booked a 6 night yoga package and decided to stay 5 extra nights as we were enjoying ourselves so much. The hotel itself is basic but perfectly formed as is the spa. The staff really care about the hotel and its guests and it shows in the details. Fresh towels, clean pool area, off duty staff saying hello when they see you out and about in Ubud, smiles and helpful advice when needed. The location is great. We were doing yoga at body works (organised by the hotel as a package) but the yoga barn is next door. There are cafes and restaurants all around and we haven't found a bad place to eat yet. Our current favourite is atman cafe, but it has changed each day this week as we tried new places. The top floor suite is worth paying for as there is a lot of space and privacy. My wife loves the spa treatments included in our package and the massage i had was very good.We are already planning our next visit, although we might try to make it 3 weeks next time!"

"So I just left Ubud Aura for the fourth time. I already miss it. I don't think anyone there is ever unhappy. Smiles all the time and there is nothing they can't arrange for you.If you are a yoga junkie like I am and want to practice at the Yoga Barn this is the place to stay. It is right next door. They have a variety of rooms from single with no air conditioning to deluxe which is humongous and has ac and a fridge. The pool is a wonderful relief on a warm balinese afternoon. Even though I would call it a guest house it has the amazing hostel vibe. Everyone meets out at the pool and there is never a shortage of amazing people to meet.I am vegan and all rooms come with breakfast included. They work around me and load me up with fresh fruit or occasionally I get the tofu scramble. Do yourself a favor if you can book it, do it now. I'll probably see you by the pool.Stayed July 2015, traveled solo"

"We stayed for 3 nights as recommended by a family member and weren't disappointed. We stayed in the Jepun room near the pool and breakfast area. Everything we needed was provided, breakfast was fresh and delicious and the ambience was very relaxing and serene. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had wonderful spa services provided by professional friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended and a great price!"

"I spent 20 nights at Ubud Aura and it has become my "home" and base in Bali. I am in Uluwatu now (and have been traveling to other places in Bali/Lombok) always going back to aubud Aira. Thestagg is so friendly, they all know me now :) the breakfast is super healthy and a hoghlight for me. The rooms have all what I need - its very clean, organized, queen bed, AC, safe and a good bathroom. Definitely a great value. They have filtered drinking water for guests, which is very green and therefore a delight (and save you some money ;) as well as separated garbages (green again). Finally, its next door to Yoga Barn so for me who went there everyday it couldn't be more convenient (the staff was so helpful during my detox program at Yoga Barn helping with everything I needed!). Looking forward to going back before leaving this amazing island (where I stayed 2 months)."

"Location wise for yoga people, just next door to Yoga barn. Very Balinese ambience welcomes guests. In-house spa is much more than what you pay. Everything above at affordable price."

"First of all, booking with Ubud Aura was in such kindness, then my experience with the driver greeting with a million dollar smile at the airport at 2:30am, making me feel totally safe at this hour. At arrival in this small size retreat center, the staff greeted me with such gentle politeness. Walking to my room was in such a beautiful and calm setting, beautiful pool in the center of the courtyard surrounded by luscious palms and flowers, the smell of incense floating in the air. My room was gloriously decorated in Balinese style with a beautiful white mosquito net coming down, gorgeous silk pillows, all spacious and impeccable! A much appreciated pure white bathrobe was folded on my bed with a new pair of hotel slippers. A large and super clean bathroom with bath and separate shower was spotless. I had my own private terrace for relaxing quietly before bedtime.I was politely greeted by the staff in the morning with a simple breakfast menu and was asked where I wanted it served - how lovely - at the outdoors dining table, or by the poolside or on my terrace, and it was totally delicious! Tea and coffee were self serve. The staff were more than gracious and polite at all times! Very helpful as well! The hotel driver named Madie was an amazing guide, very polite and patient and so happy, like all the staff. Everyone is happy in Bali! They have motorcycles to take you places close by, very practical! Walking distance from delicious restaurants, beautiful Balinese shops and temples. Spas and yoga studios everywhere! Rice patties all around. Temples and temple doors with offerings of chrysanthemums and incense burning quietly on the front steps perfuming the whole village. This is definitely not a family hotel! It is a retreat center for quietness and meditation, for finding inner peace and harmony! This has been an unforgettable experience I will cherish forever!!! Thank you Ubud Aura for everything!"

"This place was so good. The rooms were huge and clean. The breakfasts were awesome every day without fail. It was so quiet all the time, even by the pool. We split our time between a deluxe room which was fantastic and a superior which was similar but without a tv. For the minimal extra I'd go for a deluxe again, as we preferred that end of the hotel. The staff couldn't do enough for us at any time. They organized all of our trips for us and we're so happy to do so. Will be back again next year."

"Had a lovely stay in Ubud Aura. Was a very nice quiet location, with a lovely room, and nice breakfast. Well located in the centre of Ubud. We stayed in the deluxe room, which was a great size for two people."
